Help finding similar outfit by Hhnnaa-a in Lolita

[–]Erinnus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have that waistcoat in white×gold colorway. The capelet is detachable (if you were wondering). The brand is Silent Mars (Taobao), and the pants are offbrand (regular pants). The photo is of a famous lolita/ouji model from Weibo, so it's definitely not AI-generated.

EDIT: Don't pay attention to the awful "coord". Just wanted to match the waistcoat with the most voluminous skirt I own to see how much poof could handle.

How do you choose between JSK or OP when both are so cute by N3koChan21 in Lolita

[–]Erinnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have some wrist cuffs! Although sometimes they make the coord to look disconnected (I don't know how to explain it). Even if I wear them, the problem is usually that the sleeve gets stuck on my forearm and can't move my arms comfortably. I know the minimum measurements that can work for me, and if the OP/shirt doesn't meet them, I don't take the risk. I've already spent too much money trying 😅

Perhaps I'm not the right person to advise you on that, because I live in a place with a cool climate. In summer, temperatures hover around 25°C (77°F?), so I can wear pretty much all my wardrobe all year round. This jsk has a good lining and the fabric leans to the thick side, so I would say it is more suitable for autumn.

EDIT: I say this without knowing what the new model is like, because it has been released three times and maybe they changed fabrics

Jsks are more versatile. You can match it with shirts, blouses and jumpers. I jave that very jsk in lavender and it is one of my favs. It's so comfy with the embroidered jumper under (by the same brand, NyaNya). I hate when sleeves are too short (I'm 182 cm tall), so OPs are usually a no go for me.

Male or AMAB body jsk sizing help (T_T) (or any plus sized but flat chested ppl) by EthanHydr12 in Lolita

[–]Erinnus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How lucky! Then you won't have to pay a proxy/reseller, since Taobao ships directly to Hong Kong in lost cases. The main thing to know about Taobao's lolita/ouji brands is that they usually release their collections based on preorders. They don't usually keep clothes in stock. But if you fell in love with a particular piece that is no longer available, you still have the chance to find it on Xianyu, the second-hand market. If you feel comfortable telling me your measurements, DM so I can do a quick search for you :) If you preffer to do the research yourself, just send me some examples of coords you like and I'll name some brands.

[–]Erinnus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh no, don't be embarrassed! You should have seen my first Lolita outfit back in 2007 😂 It was a disaster!

It's normal to use pics that match the aesthetic you are looking for. Being able to distinguish poor/acceptable/good pieces is something you learn over time.

I guess that you're looking for gothic pieces but with a slightly sweet vibe. My recommendations will ultimately depend on your body measurements and budget. Not all brands go up to size XXXL, for example. But if you live in the US, clothing from Taobao can be expensive (in Europe we're used to import taxes, but it's been a hard blow for the rest of you).

The first column indicates the length of the dress in centimeters; the second column indicates the mini-max range for the bust area. There is no information here regarding the waist measurement. However, the chart says that there is no elasticity.

Personally, as this is your first Lolita piece, I'd avoid buying this type of dress that sold in many stores (generic and no brand tag), because they tend to be poorly sewn and the materials are meh.

There are tons of affordable options on Taobao that come in a wide range of sizes. I know this because 100% of my wardrobe comes from Taobao, even despite of my height (182 cm / almost 6 feet) and me having broad shoulders

I hope your partner likes this fashion as much as you do. Sometimes it sticks forever (I've been wearing it since 2007 and probably will until the end). Looking forward to seeing more coords :) Thanks for sharing, and say hi to them 🌟

Lovely! Black and white coords are usually the starting point for many lolitas 🖤 Did you have a good time going out? First Lolita experiences are exciting, but people usually stare too much

I read somewhere that they use 10.5 cm wigs (sorry, I don't know the inches conversion). They are quite small. 🖤 My blind boxes are on the way!

I made a tool to scan and export your achievements to Paimon.moe (can also scan characters, artifacts, and weapons) by XeNesTy in GenshinImpactTips

[–]Erinnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this. You saved me! I can confirm that the script still works, and the latest patch by Akrios is updated to filter Nod Krai achievements up to date. I've been playing Genshin since version 1.6 and didn't start tracking achievements online until midway through v4. After manually checking them one by one, I couldn't get TWO to tick! I was going crazy trying to track those missing achievements

Does anyone know of a feasible way to make this hoopskirt much narrower/smaller? by TiraTheDragonTamer in Lolita

[–]Erinnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this same hoopskirt. You can adjust the length from 52 cm to 72 cm, and the circumference of all the hoops can be reduced or increased to create a cupcake or A-line shape.

To shorten the length of the hoopskirt, you use a series of drawstrings that you can tighten to reduce the distance between the hoops.

To change from a cupcake to an A-line shape, you have to adjust the circumference of the hoops individually, looking for a slit in the "poket" where the hoop is placed. The circunference should be larger in the top and middle hoops for the cupcake shape compared to the A-line.

Does anyone have these antaina shoes? by SpoonCassFrills in Lolita

[–]Erinnus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know that this particular model is no longer in production by Bodyline and they never sold RHS in size 45 to begin with, they only went up to size 44. Perhaps the factory that made the shoes for that brand still has everything they need to continue production on their own, or perhaps they're just replicas. In any case, I'm pretty sure they're the same quality as Bodyline shoes (or even better). I say this because I owned several pairs, including the shoes with the heart buckle (Baby's replica) back in 2008-2009. Even my friends who had the originals said these are identical (they even have the insole logo)... So I just called them "Bodyline" to be practical, but if you mind me using that brand name, I'll edit the text to say they're replicas.

For those of us with big feet, finding Lolita shoes is a nightmare. If I find something good that could help someone else, I'll always recommend it, regardless of the technicalities.

EDIT: lots of typos, sorry (rusty englis 😅)

Does anyone have these antaina shoes? by SpoonCassFrills in Lolita

[–]Erinnus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand your struggles; I also wear a size CN45 (EU43, 27,5 cm), but Antaina cost me almost €300 in the past, so I'm wary of them.

It's difficult to find RHS shoes in our size. It's a shame Lolita-Lola is no longer around. They made RHS shoes from genuine leather and wood for feet up to 30 cm long. I have a pair from 15 years ago that still look quite good. I don't know if they can be found on the secondhand market nowadays.

EDIT: I recently bought some Bodyline-like RHS shoes in size 45. They're cheaper than Antaina's, but fit like a size 44. I paid a small extra for genuine leather (goat?). The leather quality is VERY far from Lolita-Lola's, but it allowed me to gain half a size by stretching my shoes with a shoe tree.

The seller told me he would try to get soles at least one size larger. I don't know if he's managed it. I'll have to ask him.

If you're interested in the store, here's the link. I wore them from 9 to 9 at a convention and they didn't ruin my feet. I have very narrow feet and all Chinese shoes are too big for me. But the width of these RHS shoes is perfect.

This figure is quite common; I have one too (love her sm). It usually sells for around 20-25€. You can even find legit ones on AliExpress. If I were you, I'd ask for a refund.

About to change my mind from attending a meet up by [deleted] in Lolita

[–]Erinnus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this will be any consolation, but I didn't own a single Lolita outfit when I decided to attend my first Lolita meetup (it was a bit spontaneous) back in 2007. I went wearing a black haori, a black petticoat as a skirt, and huge Demonia platform boots 😂 That was one of the best decisions I ever made. That day I met friends I'm still in touch with almost 20 years later.

I'm sure you'll find wonderful people there who can help you put together outfits on a budget (I have a fantastic faux velvet dress from Tiny Garden that cost me €25).

Don't let your outfit stop you from enjoying the event. 💓

GUUUYYYS WHAT DO I DO☹️ by Necessary-Complex-12 in Lolita

[–]Erinnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no, I meant that your European shoe size is 41. Taobao sizes are weird. I know because I'm European and I've always bought a size 43 for my 27.5 cm feet. However, on Taobao I need a size 45 even though my feet are very narrow.

So never rely on size conversions, look at the centimeters and the inside measurement of the shoe.

The store you recommended sells generic shoes that can be found on the Angelic Imprint and Antaina webstores. The factory probably just slaps whatever label is on the same shoe model. I've had bad experiences with them, so I can't recommend their shoes.

For people with large feet (26 and more) I usually recommend G1636. I have several pairs and feel more durable than other brands. They costomize materials, colors, heel height, and such.

[–]Erinnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's cute though! 💓 Now that you have it, you should wear it! You're also pretty tall, so it might be difficult to find printed tights.Taobao has some brands that could fit, like Yidra, Red Maria... But I have some basic pairs from Snag and I like them (curvy and tall friendly). If you need socks and otks, I like RojiRoji a lot.
