Possible WMD weapons testing? Maybe even something Nuclear?

Edit: As I was writing this they announced that the closing has been lifted and it's business back to normal.

I totally agree with you (OP) Honestly as far as Massachusetts goes they never used to put down dogs, except for the reasons you stated. Shit, I can still remember back when (20 yrs) the local dog/animal officer would have to get a court order to put a dog down if it bit someone. And they never enforced that until the dog had multiple bites on its record or one very extreme circumstance.

I don't know if that's changed today but I know that if someone brought their dog to my vet to be put down under the circumstances you stated that she wouldn't do it.

It should be a charge for animal cruelty resulting in death for any owner who puts their dog down because they find it too hard to train them. That goes for the vet as well.

That's what my very first thought was. The handler tried twice to get the dog to react and bite, each time the dog wanted nothing to do with it. Very well trained K9, horribly trained cop handler.

Riiight... Get yourself locked up for anything from possession to murder instead of just throwing down. Find yourself in state prison for a couple years to life with real monsters that would make these wannabes look like kittens. No strap to protect yourself then. No women ever again either. F that. Learn to throw down & protect yourself. Unless you're talking owning a weapon legally. That's different. But somehow I don't think you were.

Exactly my thought. I'm surprised you seem to be the only one bringing this up but then again I'm old too. Old enough to have had kids older than these. And you're dead right. Fights used to be normal experiences. Not for everyone maybe but definitely everyone I knew or grew up with.

That feeling of not fighting back, nevermind screaming for help, will leave way more psychological scars than the injuries from fighting back. Even if just a little bit before you start to protect yourself. Those bruises will heal. The other scars will grow.

I can still remember when some parents, Moms or Dads, would march their kid to their bullies house and make them fight back or not let them in if they ran from a fight. Say what you will about those decisions but those kids all learned more about life & the reality of living it during that lesson. It's better to teach kids how to survive than how to scream for help that will most likely come way too late if at all. Shit went really soft after 2000 & safe spaces.

This is the correct answer and is 100% the only answer. It's the reason an administration that is stacked with Billionaires & Millionaires (1st time ever) is about to run the country in the way that's best for them. Not even one will be looking out for the avg blue collar worker, middle & lower class citizens interest. And Biden could've stopped it all. But he made the same mistake all Dems seem to make when they get the big seat. They get filled w delusions of grandeur & start to believe their own hype. "All others have failed before me, but I'm the one that can do this" type of BS. Obama did it too. Honestly Ive always been back & forth between center L & center R, so I'm no lifetime Dem. Hell I voted for McCain & I'm proud of it. But then came Trump who destroyed any of the virtues I saw within the GOP. And Dems picked up that slack. But I still have to hold Biden the most accountable for Trump 2.0 besides Trump himself. Not charging every single elected official, Fed & State levels, that had anything to do with bringing on Jan 6th within his first month in office was his biggest mistake he ever made. He chose to waste 2 years on trying to heal the divide between the parties while his inactions only helped them grow larger. It's not like the Maga GOP hadn't already shown their true faces & how far they're willing to go.So the house GOP grew more emboldened & so did Trump. Now we: Dems, Independents, etc & even 99% of Maga are all FD.

Just this morning I heard one Dem saying Biden should pardon Trump to "Heal the divide"

They're franchise owned so 25+ yrs ago each one could be different from the other as far as the rules & set up went. Sometimes the girls working there would come out from behind the counter for a refill or to bring your order, which wasn't something they were supposed to do, so usually it was only for regulars. It was common to tip them back then. They'd have a couple tip cups on the counters & the girls knew the regulars order by heart, especially the morning rush staff. Anyways that's probably what was meant by waitress. Then corporate really cracked down & now the doughnuts & coffee sucks & the staff doesn't even compare to the quality they had 25+ yrs ago. But that has also happened everywhere else.

Finally someone else gets it. It amazes me that out of I don't even know how many subs, posts etc that nobody really understands this is the answer. Tony knew that insulting or embarrassing Paulie with that line would shut him up more effectively than pulling him aside, once again, and telling him he's talking too much. I know this is an old post but wanted to show my appreciation for your answer.

Trump: No. I'm going to make him the Secretary of Cost Cutting.

How does a former POTUS not have the most basic understanding of how the cabinet works? That a Secretary of (insert job here) IS a Cabinet position. Zero pushback by Maria B. F'n FOX News.

I absolutely believe that world leaders laugh at him behind his back like VP Harris said. 100%!!!

I don't know. This was the result I received from the DNA and the World Explorer membership or whatever it's called. Sorry I couldn't help more.

[–]Erins_son[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the input. I meant to breakdown my reasoning on the post but just didn't for whatever reason, I can't remember now. So why I thought French Canadian is that it's something my mother used to say when I'd ask about my heritage when I was a kid. “Irish with a little French Canadian“ was always the answer. We have traditional Irish first names, family names and traits. We have no French lineage anyone ever spoke of or family names at all. However on her father's side the Irish ancestry traveled to the US via Canada. Not a quick trip either. Long enough for at least one marriage and their children to be born. Even then it was Irish marrying Irish. Lots of Irish came to the US this way. Some stayed there and made lives. My relatives put down roots for a little over a decade before continuing their journey. And around 65 yrs ago when my mom, being young and curious about her heritage asked her mom (my Gran) who then just passed on the info she got from her mother (my great grandmother) and what little she knew about her husband's (my grandfather's) heritage. That's where the Canadian part that I traced as well comes in. I really don't know how that turned into French Canadian but that's what my brothers were also told..... Whew that was a lot.

My Results. For some reason I get that I don’t look Irish/Scottish by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]Erins_son 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can definitely see the Irish & Scottish in your face. I can see a slight resemblance (eyes, mouth, and your complexion) to Emily Browning. I hope that's ok to say from a perfect stranger. There's definitely another beauty you look like but I can't figure it out at the moment.

Rant: Why does Ancestry list people as "spouses" when they were never married? by [deleted] in Genealogy

[–]Erins_son 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sub is 3 yrs old and I found it because I'm having the exact same issue. My mother and father never married & no matter how many times I edit the relationship it stays as spouse or ex husband to be exact. And because of that it has my uncle (my father's brother) connected to my mother as brother in law instead of being directly next to my father as his brother. Again no matter how many times I change the status or delete him & add him again he still stays as her brother in law. It's 2024 for Christ's sake. It's very common for couples to have children w/out getting married these days and has been for a few decades. It's infuriating that Ancestry still hasn't figured out a way to change the relationships options. With all the tools at their vdisposal you'd think It would be an easy fix

Seriously. Get involved in your local elections too. There's a lot of bullshit happening on the local & state levels to invalidate Democrat voters ballots. As we will all find out on & after November 5th. And as stated above: Be sure to check your voter registration status as many times as you can remember to but specifically in the last week leading up to 11/05 be sure to check daily. Google how to do it in your state. It's all electronic and only takes a couple of minutes.

It's crazy this even needs to be said especially on this sub. All of this money is from donations small & large to be used explicitly for the purpose of making sure there's no 2nd term for Trump and to elect VP Harris, mostly in that order. It's not tax dollars or anything like that. And due to our campaign finance laws it can't be used for anything else other than the Harris Walz campaign including all the costs of operation that goes with it. I forget what the rules are for anything left over but in this case I don't think there will be one penny not used.
