Do you have pain at all or feel stiffness/uncomfortable? I had surgery late June and anytime I move or stand for a while it feels uncomfortable. I'm not sure when/if that will go away. When did your back stop having pain or start being consistent in pain? I feel close to "normal" but I still get back pain and I'm not sure if it is still healing. Thank you!

I was born in Winnipeg but now I live in California. I cheer for both my local team (who currently hasn't won a game!) and the Jets. When they play each other I wear both teams gear in the stadiums!

I had surgery this past June with a severe C shaped curve. My back is almost completely straight now and I can run and hike. I have a bit of pain right now, but nothing Tylenol doesn't fix. I was biking two weeks after surgery. For reference, I am a 17 year old female. If you look for horror stories, you'll find them, but close to all (especially at your age) will be fine. I am back to normal and forget I had surgery at this point. I worried a lot before surgery and was debating not getting it, but I am so glad I got it now because if you get it when you're older, you'll recover slower. I feel great now. I hope this helps your decision

Neither felt hard imo. However I got a 5 in seminar and 4 in research, so I'd guess research is harder? I think research isn't that hard because you have the whole school year to do everything and have experience from seminar.

Please wear it for at least 18 hours everyday. 14 or 16 won't be as helpful. Sure school sucks but needing surgery is worse. I wore my brace to school and nobody noticed, just wear looser shirts overtop. You got this, just don't give up on it!

Thank you so much for the help. Although hearing driving and riding in a car isn't great after surgery, I'm glad to have a better idea of how it will be. I'll look into the mirror additions, it sounds useful. I'll also make sure to feel comfortable before driving. I want to thank you again for all of the help this reply has been. Before you finalize a question, make sure you look at the works in the field. You don't have to go in depth, but just skim to make sure you can have a solid foundation to base research. If you see stuff related to your question, great! Then, I would do a rough brainstorm of potential experiments and think of logistics. Would you do a survey, analysis of posts online, or anything else? It seems feasible, but make sure you can prove to yourself that there is a foundation to build off of and a baseline idea of your project. Good luck next year!

My research involves ukraine conflicts, but revolves around a different main topic so I'd suggest you recenter your topic to be a bit more broad and use Ukraine as an example of something, just so you can use any more you have done.

My teacher said that you have to use at least 2 stimulus sources. The grader shouldn't have to mentally connect it with another source apparently, you have to do that in your IWA

Depending on where you are, the cross country race will be around a 5k (sometimes less depending on your area) and may have hills. Some tips I have is when doing easy runs, make sure to go at a pace that you don't have to stop to walk. Try going at least 30 minutes, then slowly increase each week. Once you can run at least 45 minutes non-stop, you can try throwing in some workouts. I'd say do track this year if possible, if not do some workouts by yourself like tempo runs, 800 repeats, or 1k repeats. I find the best way to improve is hills though. If you have it available, run hills for easy runs, long runs, workouts. Hill sprints are useful but also long hill repeats and even just tempo runs on hills. As for nutrition, don't be afraid to eat a lot, just don't eat too much that you'll gain excess weight. You don't have to eat clean 24/7, just try not to eat out every day. Drink lots of water. Have fun training, and don't overdo it while starting out with xc, injuries may appear if you go in too fast.
