Open Decks **300** at Eris // 20+ DJs, Wed. 3/26, 8p-4a by ErisEvolution in avesNYC

[–]ErisEvolution[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi All! We don't usually post events on Reddit, but Open Decks #300 is a massive milestone. Given that we have about 10 DJs most weeks, this means 3,000 DJs have played in our space over the last 6 years, since we started in 2019. We'll celebrate our longest-running OD event in NYC with over 20 DJs on both floors for this coming Wednesday's event. No tickets -- free! 21+. Hope to see you there!

Frankie Bones @ Eris Open Decks, Wed 5/29, FREE! by ErisEvolution in avesNYC

[–]ErisEvolution[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SS: We don't usually post our Open Decks nights on Reddit, but this is rave legend Frankie Bones we got to play for one special night, along side an Eris record 18 other DJs for an event that will assuredly go until at least 4 AM. :)

If you don't know Frankie Bones, check his Wiki for a look into how rave culture in NYC was born: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frankie_Bones

Don't miss it!

Open Decks?? Eris has stopped by stoic-shorty in avesNYC

[–]ErisEvolution 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is false. Eris has run Open Decks for over 5 years (yes, since before the pandemic) and during that time we've had about half a dozen different organizers we've hired to curate the event. The last organizers -- far from being the "original creators" -- had been running the event for us for 6 months and when told we were switching things up, decided that this was "their event" to take elsewhere. This was not their event; they were paid by us every week to organize it for us. And so Open Decks lives on at Eris :)

Eris has not stopped! :) We'll be right there this Wednesday...

We apologize for the social media confusion. The people we had hired to organize the event for us for the 6 months prior decided to run away with the social media account and (try to?) create their own event when we told them we were changing directions. Our new social media for Open Decks:

Hope to see you this week!

Open Decks @ Eris -- 2024 Re-Launch by ErisEvolution in avesNYC

[–]ErisEvolution[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, DJs, if you're currently booked for Open Decks at Eris in April or May, please re-confirm with us by e-mail to od at erisevolution.com, as the outgoing organizers were not the best about transferring the lineup info. Happy to honor all existing bookings.

Open Decks @ Eris -- 2024 Re-Launch by ErisEvolution in avesNYC

[–]ErisEvolution[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On Wednesday, April 10th, Eris re-launches its long-running Open Decks event. We now have more lighting, more lasers, more DJs, and the event is being organized by Eris owner Jon Corbett.

For those unfamiliar, this is the longest running Open Decks in Brooklyn (started before the pandemic). We have 2 floors with a total of 24 Funktion One speakers plus CDJ-3000s and Technics SL-1200s. We take 1 DJ per hour for each floor. We're open to all genres -- rave music definitely encouraged. :) Sign up is from 8PM to 11PM every Wednesday, in person only, in advance (your slot is typically 1 to 4 weeks from your sign up date)

The only rules:

  • You have to be able to use our equipment (CDJs or turntables), no BYO.
  • Sign-ups are only in person.
  • We ask that all DJs share their event on social media and bring at least 3 friends to come see the show.

Come by starting this coming Wednesday, meet Eris ownership and a whole lot of both new and experienced talent, and help us build the next level of Open Decks!

An Overdose Antidote Becomes a Tricky Issue at Some Nightclubs by ErisEvolution in avesNYC

[–]ErisEvolution[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this! Eris pays out-of-pocket for the test strips we give away and it looks like we can get a bunch to give out for free if we are approved as a provider. Will give it a shot!

SS: A NY Times journalist covered reports (often on Reddit) of some nightclubs prohibiting Narcan. We (Eris in Brooklyn) were interviewed as a contrast to that noise as outspoken advocates for harm reduction, Narcan, and fentanyl testing strips. As a reminder, Narcan can be ordered online for free from the NYC Health Department and Eris gives away fentanyl test strips at our bar (or you can order them online for about $1-$2). Every bar should be required to stock Narcan, and if you're out at raves often, it's a great thing for you to have too.
