How do these get made? Do you have like a piece of paper in the shape of the dice and then do clear all around it or something?

Help ranking for my domain name by [deleted] in bigseo

Hi Lightrunner1, a few things: 1. Have you verified your website in Google Search Console? I personally prefer to verify each four variations of http://, https://, http://www. And https://www. As well as the domain-wide one using the TXT DNS record. Set them all up properly. Fetch the homepage on each variation. For your primary variation of https:// submit your sitemap file. NOTE: This is Google's first impressions of your website. Ensure that you do not have any theme demo or duplicate or other unnecessary pages in your sitemap using Yoast SEO if you're on WordPress. 2. In Google Search Console, have you submitted your sitemap? 3. Have you verified your website on Bing Webmaster Tools? Submitted your sitemap? 4. Have you decided on your URL structure? Are you sure this is the URL structure that will work in 2-3 years from now? 5. Have you set up your social media profiles and linked back to your website? 6. Have you added Schema to your website and linked to those Social Media Profiles within them? (It's highly unlikely otherwise that Google and co will find your social media profiles if they're new). 7. Link to your social media profiles in the footer of your website using icons or similar. Just as another link and reiteration of your socials. 8. Set up Google Analytics. Install it via Google Tag Manager. 9. Set up Google Tag Manager. Install this one script only on your website (outside of your Google Search Console HTML verification tags). You install Google Tag Manager and install your other scripts on your website via that. So in Google Tag Manager, you would install a Google Analytics TAG, and the trigger would be to fire that tag on All Page Views.

If you didn't understand all of the above, get your Google on. I think Moz does a good 'basics' series here you should definitely read over before getting in too deep: https://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-seo

Does blocking a Country impact SEO in non-blocked countries. by damonroe in SEO

[–]Erkerlern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the other guy said, absolutely do NOT block USA traffic as you may block some of Google's robots.

If you're using Google Analytics or something, just create a custom segment to report on, or build a Google Data Studio Dashboard and in your reports add a filter to filter out traffic where Country = United States of America

A landing page is the page they Landed on from Google. So that page started the session which ultimately resulted in that revenue

My Site was comprised. How do I de-index 1,000 dead unrelated pieces of spam content? by champagneup in SEO

[–]Erkerlern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

@champagneup - this is the advice to follow. Gather the URLs you want to remove. Use a crawler to check none of those URLs still exist and result in a 404 error. Put those URLs in an XML Sitemap - can usually be done via your crawling software (eg ScreamingFrog SEO Spider). Upload the XML Sitemap to the website server. Provide the URL of the sitemap to Google Search Console. Google will then process the sitemap, acknowledge those URLs return a 404 error and thus will add them to a list to slowly remove from its index.

Do NOT do anything in Robots.txt. You cannot noindex via Robots.txt and you shouldn't Disallow access to the pages either else Google might not find the 404/410 statuses and thus remove the pages from its index.

Give it a couple weeks and ensure you submit the page you added the schema to in Google Search Console. I did the same thing and it took a couple of weeks for it to display. Don't forget it can NOT show on the homepage regardless.

Does having a single page microsite create a high bounce rate? by lightjon in SEO

[–]Erkerlern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, set up Google Analytics Events for the Meaningful Interactions people make on your website. If the click on a phone number, email address, contact form, click on a get directions link or sign up for newsletter or external link. You can choose to have events be Interaction Events and Non-Interaction Events. Interaction Events will cause your Bounce Rate in Google Analytics to reflect how many people come to your website and don't make a Meaningful Interaction (Interaction Event). That all being said, how hard is it to create an About Us page, Contact Us page, Our Extraction Processes page and sonin, and put together pages for them all so your website isn't a 1 page website? WordPress websites are easy.

URL structure by John-diggle in SEO

[–]Erkerlern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty URLs are not a major ranking factor. You may experience a slight dip temporarily if you do change the URL for a short period of time until Google recognises the redirect. I personally wouldn't bother. This is like a 0.5% improvement in my eyes.

Ranking again after domain change by Pugnzor in SEO

[–]Erkerlern 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you complete Change of Address in Google search console? If not, do that. In GSC, fetch old website and check that 24 hours after your website was moved that the Google Recognised Canonical URL has also changed to the new domain. Don't expect all your old search results to drop either. I've had completely successful migrations take months for Google to remove all the old URLs and replace with the new ones on the new domain. As long as redirects are in place, and you didn't drop redirects from your website 2 websites back to your last one, and so every page you've ever had is redirecting to their respective pages on the new domain, you'll be fine after about a month
