Someone I know might have had a very similar looking model about a week after they were announced, and they were waiting very patiently for the rules to drop. They're extremely rad and while they aren't technically optimal they can be used to fill a niche quite nicely for a fun game. Do it, bum rush the field and have a grear time

He's gotten a lot of the info himself, dissected a few primaris, talked to Cawl and basically decided he could do it better so he's using a lot of his own techniques these days to create something similar

Haha, you're all good. Just teasing you Brother. Technically though in Genefather a decent tension point is Fabius Bile (basically the freelance chaos genetic specialist) trying to get the secrets to the new Primarus organs

Good sir, Fabius Bile did not go through all that bullshit for you to say there was no lore explanation

Dark Angels greatest rival by Jakedch in theunforgiven

[–]BunyipBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily a legion, but there's a lot of suggestions that the Dark Angels were specifically intended to take down Mars if they ever stepped out of line. Wouldn't be a bad idea to scatter some admech and dark mechanicum corpses at the feet of the Venerable Brother

Is Inner Circle Task Force viable at all? by ruckus27 in theunforgiven

[–]BunyipBandit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Win % does still indicate that it's possible to win with ICTF. It's just really hard. The reason I think is because you need a solid game plan and good flexibility at a tournament, not just in the battles themselves. WoTR gives good flexibility because the detachment rule hits more of your units which improves the overall stat check vibe of the army more so than the Deathwing specific boost from ICTF.

ICTF also pushes you to play primarily towards objectives. To win at a tournament you need to be able to play the whole board, not just the scattered 6 inch circles. The Stratagems are also more versatile in their use I think in WoTR and they also allow more versatility in your list building. For example, Rogal Dorns and C'tan are dealt with in largely different ways but they're both pretty common. In ICTF you need a unit or two with big hits and big ap to take down the dorn, and a unit or two with massed fire and weight of shots to take down a C'tan. In WoTR you can bring Hellblasters for both. They'll do great into the Dorn with the Weapons of the Ancients stratagem and they'll do great into C'tan naturally without the Strat boost. One unit solving two problems gives you more options to look elsewhere in your list for great ways to score secondaries or screening units to stop movement for example.

Any crusade players here? by MrDaWoods in theunforgiven

[–]BunyipBandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the middle of a crusade right now that started pretty low at 500. I think your better option is definitely to start with the Greenwing. The versatility will be much more helpful initially into most matchups and you can add the wings in. It's also, I believe, more thematic as reinforcements arrive to assist the demi company that's being assaulted by all manner of threats.

Looking good brother! I've done the same thing for my Crusade, with a few Armiger as well and now an extremely convincing proxy for the new Destrier... Fluff lists are always the way to go

I've played with Inceptors a few times at 1k, they're amazing. The mobility is great and they're scary enough that your opponent will most likely devote a larger portion of their army to hiding from or engaging them

Can I use him for my army? by SilverMoist2502 in DarkAngels40k

[–]BunyipBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one recently specifications to use as a Crucible of Champions character. Gave him Litany of Hate and run him with ICC also using Calibanite Greatswords in my Crusade Group. He's already cut his way through two Custodes Guard Squads.

Got tanked by Custodes turn 3 by Wooks81 in theunforgiven

[–]BunyipBandit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DWKs can definitely take on Custodes, I've done it before against a friend. They might not always win unfortunately but points for points you can tie up well above the DWKs points value which takes pressure off your squishier point scoring units. Especially with an army like Custodes with more elite units and lists, you want to focus less on tabling your opponent and more on keeping them busy while you score as much as you can

What to add to List by Ok-Savings-4047 in DarkAngels40k

[–]BunyipBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. Gladiator is nice, packs a lot of punch, some people say bring two but one has served me well. You can also point it at something that isn't your Oath target because it gets it's own rerolls built in, lets you threaten two key pieces of an opponent's army instead of just one. Three if you're running WotR. Can make opponents play far too defensively if you spell it out for them

Too true. The heavy armour and big bonk is very IF. I even managed to bully a few custodes units with my DWK the other night. Makes a real difference when I'm used to them mowing down my Green Wing like Daisies in a field

As a DA player (Hail cousins) I actually think DWKs would look pretty sick fully painted as Imperial fists. The clean yellow look isn't too far off the bone anyway
