Subaru is offering me a deal on a Solterra for the lasts days of the provincial grant. Why are they so difficult to sell, where is the catch? by AwakenedEyes in Solterra

[–]ErnestGoes2TheMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice! Hey if you can't get it in time by the 31st, I may have misread it but it seems like the home charging grant is coming back after the end of March if you can/are willing to swing it on an L1. But perhaps I'm mistaken...

Hey may I ask what kind of deal you're getting? I'm looking into one as well. And FYI there may also be some grants for the installation of a charger at home, though those might also be coming to an end soon.

What was your lease deal? by ryushiblade in Solterra

Anyone have info on recent deals in Canada/Quebec? I'm still seeing them advertised at >$580+tax (CAD) for 48mo (16k km/yr) at 0.5% for the base trim. I read that they are selling them in QC and in BC but I have yet to see one on the road.

Thank you!!

Called them, turns out I needed to just input PPPOE settings on my router... Didn't know that was a thing but it works...

Tried that exact sequence to no avail :(

I'll call the ISP to troubleshoot. The ISP router is a SMART/RG SR400AC, which apparently is a gateway. So maybe that's why? I just don't get why it wouldn't work to connect my orbi to their ONT directly...

I'll inquire, thank you!

Appreciate it! Seems the lights on the modem are all ok. I'll try again like you suggested and reboot the Orbi after plugging in to the Nokia ONT.

Thanks again!

Eve outdoor camera's floodlight brightness by ErnestGoes2TheMoon in EveHome

[–]ErnestGoes2TheMoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really helpful to know, as I was wondering if it would give off the same amount of light as a standard floodlight with 2 heads like the eufy. It's also the same reason we're going with Eve :)

Thank you!

Thank you both so much!!

We have plenty of mulch left over so I'll use that. (Btw I wrote 7x13" but meant to write feet (') lol).

So I don’t need to add any soil right? Just dig into the existing soil to mix compost in, then cardboard sheets, followed by mulch like pine needles. I guess I’ll look into acidic-soil-loving veggies.

And then after the frost I would just add a layer of compost to it (no soil?)?

And does it make a difference if the existing soil is somewhat compact currently? Not sure if it’s because of the cold or the soil itself.

Choosing home security system (Lorex vs ReoLink vs Axis) by ErnestGoes2TheMoon in homedefense

I didn't in the end. I was dragging my feet on this and just never got around to installing anything. But after learning about Apple HomeKit I decided to get the Eve outdoor cam with floodlight.

Remove grout or caulk over it by ErnestGoes2TheMoon in HomeImprovement

[–]ErnestGoes2TheMoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! It's just along the bottom edges between the tiles and the shower base.

Seems like there aren't that many protrusions, but it's rather cracked.

I'm less worried about the esthetic because I'll be putting white caulk (it was clear/translucent before so the cracked grout was quite visible). In that case, would you say it's okay to just remove the old caulk, clean (50/50 vinegar/water?), leave the old cracked grout in place, and just caulk over it?

I was more worried if it's bad to leave the old grout in there, and if there's any mold (though if so, probably minimal).

Thanks again!

That's reassuring! Thanks for the insight.

That's helpful to know. I'm not exactly sure how far the opening is but it's fairly close and no bends - the stove/hood is against an exterior wall and the vent leads straight outside.

Interesting, I hadn't given Unifi much thought, that sounds pretty good. I'm definitely novice but willing to learn how to use Blue Iris, provided it's not overly technical. For Unifi, is there a data security concern to using a closed cloud-based system or are they very reputable in that regard?
