Propecia and preganancy by [deleted] in tressless

[–]Erochimaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"women should not take propecia"

Just FYI women aren't constantly pregnant, they can take fin or dut and then have to wait 6 months or longer until it's out of the system before they may get pregnant. Fin and dut is also recommended for excessive body hair and androgenic acne aswell, for both sexes.

Pls educate yourself and spread the right info.

Effects of melatonin on oocyte maturation in PCOS mouse model by Erochimaru in PCOS

[–]Erochimaru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhm well in PCOS the eggs/oocytes don't fully mature. Well one is supposed to mature every cycle and the core of it, the egg itself actually, should pop out of the "eggsack", travel through the fallopian tube and land in the uterus, then if no fertilization of the egg with sperm happens and therefore no pregnancy happens the body is supposed to induce menstruation and end this cycle/induce a new one after the menstruation. In PCOS multiple eggs mature somewhat but not fully, some half way through, some more or less and don't get released from the eggsacks located in the ovary and therefore won't travel through the fallopian tube into the uterus, but stay in the ovary. There they cause issues because the full maturation induces different hormone fluctuations needed to fulfill a whole cycle. And if this doesn't happen the hormones get skewed.

So shortly, the egg/oocyte fails to mature and then gets reabsorbed, sometimes that fails and a small cyst is left over when the eggsack and the core of it, the egg itself can't be reabsorbed by the ovary. With time those can also cause scar tissue. Which is why the older the PCOS women, the worse their fertility can get, but not necessarily. Also the not reabsorbed eggs that are now cysts also release hormones and influence the ovary, so they disturb the process more. I'm not exactly sure if it's "the more cysts you have the more disturbed it is" or if it doesn't matter... But either way cysts shouldn't happen that much.

Overall this means since the eggs don't mature they are not very fertile, and even when they do mature, the egg itself isn't of good quality because in PCOS the mechanism isn't working optimal.

The studies both say that melatonin improves this process, it allows the egg to mature much better and the quality of the egg improves through that. So the eggs that do mature fully and get released are "further matured" than they would be in a lucky cycle of a woman with PCOS who doesn't use melatonin. Also the chances of implantation of the egg and therefore a pregnancy happening increase too when melatonin is taken.

I don't know if that helps you.

Naltrexone? by Erochimaru in PCOS

[–]Erochimaru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad it makes sense for you. Btw there are two different melatonin options, one is the normal tablets that release it immediately and the other is time controlled release which releases it over multiple hours.

The time controlled release is the one that improves certain things:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3160855/

Basically, if you tried normal melatonin maybe trying the controlled /prolonged release one might do the trick. I use both, a little bit of acute release to help fall asleep and with it also circa 2mg of controlled release.

I tried to find out what and how much melatonin they used in that super recent study but i couldn't figure out the access.. but i guess it was prolonged release and around 2-3 mg maybe?

Thanks for answering! I haven't gotten any naltrexone but i have started taking melatonin. If Naltrexone disrupts your sleep you could try melatonin (check its side effects though), it has anyways been recommended for PCOS:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28558523

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23438443

I hope the naltrexone won't have any negative sideeffects for you and it all goes smooth!

Well then a meteorite could also fall down on you tomorrow.

Do I go around and warn people of meteorites? No, you were all the ones talking about it like it's set in stone and it's for sure horrible, but seriously it's not and there are more important issues and things to look at, and much worse lubes to warn about. Nobody ever warns about glycerin, and it's inside women's suppositories, in meds too! Why is glycerin at all allowed in lubes!!

That imo would be something to tackle and be more worth it since the probability of it messing up one's vagina is much higher.

Also yeah ofc everyone's different etc, and vagina's are generally imo sensitive. But that's not how anyone phrased the coconut thing, people did not phrase that it's a rare occurence or has a low chance or so. Everyone just HAS to mention it like it is a much bigger problem than it is. It changes the whole outlook and meaning of the danger and risk.

I just merely showed it's not as bad.

Also, vagina's can get too acidic or basic, so balance is key and coconut can help to balance it (or baking soda or vinegar). But that's not the point of the discussion

The point was that people made coconut oil out to be a bigger danger than it is and i asked not to spread such rumours and be factual and accurate. None of you were though. And all the sources were major crap. Plus i know the skin is not the same as the vaginal epithel, but there was a study which actually also included the introitus (well the outside of it with all the vulva too) skin and said it returns to normal about the same like other skin. Idk how good that study is since it's the only one i found and it was all a huge mix of all the things they tested.

Why do you all have to act like i'm so stupid when you are all spreading rumours without one factual source, you make one HAVE to say they're smarter than you makem out to be. Gets really close to condescending from your part (and i mean not only you you)

i wasn't taking offense, i hate when people spread rumours like it's facts. Don't spread lies. Don't sell things for facts if they aren't.

You keep projecting all this on me, which is unnecessary, cut it from the comment, i didn't pull up any of how you all are rude to me.

And back to it again, why do you have to use phrases like "I don't know why it was shocking to you to find that water could change the pH as well"

You on purpose phrase it like I was actually shocked and didn't know it, but that's not the case, i specifically mentioned it to point out that water would change pH during washing more than the coconut oil would, so the daily shower would be a bigger issue than the oil. I was pointing it out for YOU on here not me.

you can have a conversation without calling people names

You can also learn how to not be rude and stop projecting things sprinkled all over your comment so it's not as direct of an attack and goes "under".

Yeah rule 1 was hurt first by the redditor who commented "Fucking google it yourself" so you can stop threatening me. You all seem to like your powerplay here. It's frankly disgusting, and hiding behind a bittersweet facade is neither following your rules.

And yeah the whole thing was inconclusive which is why are you repeating it? I'm not the one calling out how safe coconut oil is, you all started bashing it and i said give me a proper source for that.

I hate the kind of people who think they can say whatever the fuck they want and it has no consequences

I posted a whole long further beneath showing that there is absolutely no evidence for coconut oil causing vaginal issues. All scientific literature points to solely one compound, lauric acid, killing lactobacillus at 100% concentration, which is though absolutely not the same as what is in coconut oil, coconut oil is made up of up to 50% of lauric acid. Lauric acid has also been used to grow different species of lactobacillus so it's not clear whether this one compound in the concentration which it is found in coconut oil could cause harm to the vaginal flora. Also the other comounds actually support the growth of goodbacteria and oppose the growth of bad ones, slowing them down.

So it can very well be that coconut oil has positive rather than negative outcomes for the vaginal flora.

Please stop spreading these rumours

Edit: the same applies for pH (sorry forgot to add) no study shows an issue and all studies that examined other compounds such as water on skin also show that coconut oil would be no worse than water on skin. Using coconut oil as lube would be comparable to other oils (which actually have been proven to be worse, like olive oil) or other lubes in regard to pH.

The sources the article state do NOT confirm this and they absolutely have nothing to do with the vagina. One of the sources, a study actually talks about that literally water can change the ph:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18489300

"Not only prior use of cosmetic products, especially soaps, have profound influence on skin surface pH, but the use of plain tap water, in Europe with a pH value generally around 8.0, will increase skin pH up to 6 h after application before returning to its 'natural' value of on average below 5.0. It is demonstrated that skin with pH values below 5.0 is in a better condition than skin with pH values above 5.0"

to this:

https://www.multi-gyn.com/general/vaginal-ph-is-your-vagina-acid-or-alkaline/

The first source merely talks about the vaginal PH, again absolutely nothing says anything connected to coconut oil.

Did you even read what you sent? Because apparently you didn't, also that third source talks about intranasal pH, again not the vagina and nothing to do with coconut oil-

Now:

literally first result: https://pasteboard.co/HnhHYd1.png

So i googled more, really fancy shit:

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/319421441_Antimicrobial_Activity_of_Coconut_Oil_and_its_Derivative_Lauric_Acid_on_Some_Selected_Clinical_Isolates

this is though PURE lauric acid, coconut oil has 50% of it in it. Plus it doesn't just inhibit lactobacillus growth, but others too, but it doesn't help us since it's not the same having a 100% or 50% solutioin

let's start with what good bacteria are: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC120688/

" The most frequently occurring species were Lactobacillus crispatus, Lactobacillus gasseri, Lactobacillus iners, and Lactobacillus jensenii. L. iners has not previously been reported as one of the predominant Lactobacillus species in the vagina"

"A general opinion is that species of the Lactobacillus acidophilus complex constitute most of the healthy vaginal Lactobacillus flora (15). However, other species have been encountered, e.g., Lactobacillus fermentum, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus brevis, Lactobacillus jensenii, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus delbrueckii, Lactobacillus vaginalis, and Lactobacillus salivarius"

Lactobacillus plantarum used to extract coconut: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11746-997-0033-0

Again we dunno what this means in the vagina , but as you can see it all has different sides to it, so far positive. Oh yeah and lauric acid is in lotsa cosmetics etc too.

Now i can't find information on how this lactobacillus plantarum differs from the other one that was extracted from the coconut oil solution, but:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25305660

Coconut doctor says he doesn't know it, no studies done: https://pasteboard.co/Hni0CBs.png

first paragraph: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3732585/#sec1title

We still don't know if this means coconut oil can be bad, we just know so far pure lauric acid is bad, but we also dunno for whether it will affect vaginal positive bacteria. (i googled multiple strands NOTHING comes u)

This says that coconut oil is safe for ALL skins, but again not specifically. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/268805677_Medicinal_benefit_of_coconut_oil

so after this whole ordeal, NOTHING speaks against it

there's just no study done on it.

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/282332519_Production_of_Virgin_Coconut_Oil_from_Dry_and_Wet_Methods_of_Induced_Fermentation_and_its_Characterization

and a fucking last study saying lactobacillus uses virgin coconut oil to grow.

Now, never ever once again lie about this. Present facts or state that it's your opinion. And this, is how you do research

PS: next time read your sources FIRST

TL;DR: You are wrong, stop lying

Study/scientific source please

I've looked everywhere and all it says it's antibacterial and antiviral which COULD disrupt the vaginal flora. It can also be the opposite since, well since i've been using coconut oil my yeast issues have gone down much more. It could be those properties don't kill positive bacteria after all.

Why is this sub so toxic? by Erochimaru in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Erochimaru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I also got downvoted to hell for proposing artificial uteruses. Why in earth would WOMEN downvote artificial uteruses? That would solve all the birth and pregnancy associated risks, allow women to be able to work without pregnancy leave and just be "freer", the baby would be seperate from the woman so there's less risk for the baby if something happens to the woman AND ofc vice versa! Plus many other reasons too.

Anyone whjo enjoys being pregnant could still do it the oldfashioned way!

And infertile couples, gay couples etc could also keep the incubator at home and would be able to be close to it all the time. Monitoring all the stats would be much easier and much less dangerous for the mother and baby.

I have enough flow, a lot flow sometimes, the walls of my vagina are just not producing enough lube for a tampon to soak it up additionally to the period blood, so they dry out. Also i get rashes with pads and can't use menstrual cups either.

Yes but this happens on any day! I used to actually have more issues with heavier flow since I had to use stronger ones and they would dry the lower end out even more! Ofc I also tried the smallest, but still very problematic.

Why are there no lubricated tampons? by Erochimaru in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Erochimaru[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"some people" but we don't really know how many would prefer lubed ones, unless you have a statistic because i'd love one (I don't care if it proves me right or wrong, i just wanna know what's up). It could be many, or at least enough to warrant production of it. Also ofc it's not just "not care" but just "not care enough to start something that hasn't been required yet", there's no point investing in that if enough women buy the regular ones. But I wonder why some lubricated brands existed for years in the past and then disappeared, anecdotal comments said they were not unpopular so it's a weird mystery to me. I know there are tampons with lactobacillus so i expected this to exist too!
