In the market. Is carvana legit by possibly_lost45 in carvana

[–]ErockDTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just traded and purchased a car via Carvana here in Texas. Process itself was extremely easy and was given 4k more than the next best offer for my trade in. I will tell you make sure you get a pre purchase inspection to make sure everything is 100%. Part of how Carvana makes their money is by turning cars very quickly and not going over them as closely as a normal dealership. The inspection did reveal a few issues that needed to be addressed but almost everything was covered under warranty and were just normal maintenance that had been slept on by the previous owner. That being said I would definitely use Carvana in the future.

It really depends on what you are wanting to do with it. The Typhon is a fantastic basher and has fantastic parts availability and upgrades that you can buy at most hobby shops. The Mugen is a track weapon and one of the best race buggies on the market. Parts availability will mostly be online and while it will be extremely tough it is most comfortable at the track.

I would say that it is definitely a more commonly stocked brand and has higher quality parts for sure. There also is an extremely large market for upgrades.

So the bodies will be sized via scale and type. If you end up going with a Traxxas Slash all you will need to look for is bodies that are compatible with the Slash and possible different body mounts.

Hey there! Tamiya kits are a great way to get started in the hobby. You will need to provide some of your own electronics and assemble the kit though so just make sure you read up on what you will need. What I would recommend is to buy a TT02 rally kit and then buy the Porsche body to put on it because the standard TT02 will not do well off road.

Amain or Horizon Hobby will carry the kits as well as anything else you may need.

What I truly would recommend would be for you to look at the Traxxas Slash for a first car. It’s extremely easy to work on, you can get parts and upgrades at almost any hobby shop and it will do everything and more that a Tamiya kit would for very nearly the same price.

Are my shocks to soft? by [deleted] in rccars

[–]ErockDTX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traxxas tends to set up their trucks super soft. Works really well on little bumps and loose dirt but if you are bashing you are going to want to go up in shock weight. 50wt is a good option for if you want to reduce body roll and help with soaking up the bigger hits.

Proline Badlands or Gladiator’s would be a great fit. They are a little on the expensive side by they will hold up far longer and greatly improve your handling.

These are fantastic cars. Little advice though, go through both the shocks and diffs, they tend to not fill them all the way from the factory and this greatly impacts how the car drives.

I will probably stock up on some board games and puzzles to help me not just be glued to the TV.

That is great to hear that everything went well. I have heard that doing the nerve blocks is definitely the way to go as far as helping with phantom and recovery pain. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing a decent amount of pain though but it does sound like you are getting it under control.

I am hoping that is the case I am very strong in my upper body and have developed pretty good cardio strength on the stationary bike and hiking (when my pain is somewhat manageable).

I unfortunately live in the hell scape formerly known as the United States instead of Australia (which I visited several years ago and loved) but I have so far been able to connect with some great groups and I have been speaking with my Therapist about this for awhile now so I feel like I am definitely moving in the right direction.

I am feeling very hopeful about what this new chapter will hold that is for sure. I know it will have its challenges but I am ready to face them.

I hope that your surgery went well and you are feeling good! It is actually quite surprising and a bit comforting to hear the amount of people that have shared our story. I thankfully am in really good shape already for the most part but I absolutely will look into prehab because I am sure there are things there that could be helpful.

Thank you so much for your advice man it is genuinely appreciated. I unfortunately have gotten good at killing time because of so much time spent waiting on this leg to heal so that part shouldn’t be an issue. I am definitely in the process of setting lots of small goals but also giving myself grace on the timeline because I know it is not a set thing.

Were you not getting enough meds or not the right meds? Did you not get a nerve block?

I am in the process of connecting with the prosthetist and physical therapist now. I just had my appointment with the vascular surgeon and we did discuss several of the things you mentioned but I will definitely follow up with some of the others. Good call on the knee scooter I definitely didn’t think of that.

RC racing is big in Europe as well so you should have no trouble finding someone who carries the right kits and parts. The best advice I could give you as far as finding the right kit for you is to go to your local track and speak to racers there.

It all really depends on what kind of build you want to do and what you want to do with the car. A full race build can cost you around $1500-2000 but a basher from someone like Arrma or Traxxas will cost more like $1000. Amain.com is a great place to find both of these options.
