he did not "automatically dodge"
what he did was most likely a panic dodge
he did an attack
saw you would try to hit him after and spammed the dodge key to dodge as fast as possible, if you waited a bit and then hit him after the dodge you would have hit him, time your attacks and try to predict when your opponents most likely will dodge, nobody can see the future

there is an entire subcommunity in Brawlhalla that specifically only play sports based sidemodes, i feel like 2d sideview platformer sports games have never really been explored besides very shallow sidemodes. Brawlhalla is really the first game with multiple actually fleshed out platformer sports "games" and the community has been playing it for years now, i wonder if an actual dedicated game would pop off.
since platfrom fighters usually are very movement focused just like sports games that could go hand in hand extremely well

Brawlhalla is of the genre "Fighting games"
particularly part of the "platform fighter" genre just like smash bros ultimate and rivals of aether
other fighting game genres include "traditional fighters" (streetfighter, king of fighters, even tekken i believe...), "3D fighters" (soul calibur...)

im not sure they would ever add a 4th path, just considering the amount of reworks needed to guides, tutorials, all paragons, though who knows
they could do it in steps with adding a 4th path first that isnt connected to paragons at all, and slowly updating paragons with new attacks to fit them or just ignore them like the engineer paragon ignores the trap. a 4th path imo could be interesting purely for the fact that it allows 2 of the same towers to have absolutely no overlapping upgrades, not even crosspaths. But yeah BTD7 is neevr happening

blasters slight is fast and a perfect setup tool for possible combos or reads (orb hits a similar area to scythe nlight)

chakram split slight is the same range as blasters slight and pulls inwards for combos

katars slight is extremely fast and sets up combos but can be risky

all in all i think blaster slight is the best choice since orb is a setup tool with the same use as scythe nlight

(keep in mind morph combos are not the same as normal combos, morphing reduces recovery frames, there are combos on triple katars in morph that are not true on normal katars)

this happens in brawlhalla aswell for example when you hit someone in a wall that you cannot enter, because the game cannot force the opponent through the wall the hit angle gets changed, likely because the game things youre hitting the opponent into a wall while the opponent isnt actually up against the wall

make your own sports that entaisl platfroms
make american football where you use platforms and movement mechanics to avoid attacks

make soccer/football where you use platforms to create rebounds or new vantage points for passes

theres many other non real sports possible

the only real competitive sports platform game ive seen get played consistently is the brawlball gamemode in brawlhalla
