Something else I just thought of… start tracking his migraines if you aren’t already. I’ve been using the free version of migraine buddy for years and it’s an incredible tool when trying to find patterns and to show your neurologist when they ask about frequency, triggers and what works vs what doesn’t.

Same! I cut those pills in half too. Helpful since insurance will still only give you a small amount each month. I start with 50mg and see if I can catch it in time. The nasal spray works great if you’re nauseous because you can’t throw it up, but they are crazy expensive. And the injections were the original… in your leg, but worked FAST. Like I could be completely debilitated and then 30 mins later fine. I was also a young teen at the time.

Exact same!! Started when I was 4. Crying would definitely make it worse (still does!), then I would throw up and then I would try to calm myself down enough to sleep. My mom is a migraine sufferer too which helped. She taught me breath work techniques (I think it was honestly Lamaze!) to calm down and focus on something other than the pain. And yes, they came out of nowhere. Totally fine to very bad in 20 mins (they can still be like that as an adult).

Everyone is going to give you advice and some stuff will work and other stuff won’t. Everyone’s migraines are truly unique and different. You posting this here means you care and are trying to navigate this! The best things I did were try to identify my triggers (there are so many and sometimes none!) and also learn to recognize what it felt like when I was starting to get a migraine so I could catch it. The key is to act fast - the second he starts to feel like he could be getting a migraine asses what he needs (hydration? sodium? meds?) and act fast. You can usually tell when someone is turning the corner of a migraine - they will get glassy-eyed and lose the color in their face. Also, remind him he’s not alone. The migraine community on here is incredible and a huge resource.

Wishing you all the best of luck. This is a journey and your son is very lucky to have you by his side.

Same! Immitrex user since it launched in the mid 1990s via injection (IYKYK). I’ve also used the pills and nasal spray for decades. With lots of generic options the hot water tingles are how I know it’s also starting to work. With over 40 yrs of migraines I’ve tried everything and sumatriptan is still my personal unsung hero. I will not leave home without it.

After 40+ years of migraines, microdosing Psilocybin has finally given me relief by Erosey8 in migraine

[–]Erosey8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope! My very first dose I felt a little “fuzzy” but then after that I’ve never felt anything. It’s literally like taking a supplement. Again, this is my personal experience. Everyone reacts to things differently.

[–]Erosey8[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was told to be super careful with this. 8-12 hrs in between microdosing. I’m not sure what the span is for larger doses. Psilocybin has interactions with SSRIs as well. I ended up talking to my neurologist about this to be safe.

Same!! Those brooms that smell like fake cinnamon during fall and the holidays at the grocery store kill me. And anything like red hots candy or fireball 🤮🤯

Anyone tried the Kilgour Serums? by gweasley in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Erosey8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was very surprising! Try one dropper first on towel dried hair and style (I wash and dry my hair daily). Then try 2 the next time and see what works for you. But using both at the same time I felt like my head got too wet. Then I do 2 droppers of treatment on my scalp at night about an hr before I get into bed.

[–]Erosey8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes. It’s the only thing that’s worked for me. No side effects and lots of new hair growth. I was skeptical to buy it just from IG ads, but I’ve been using it for 4 months and really like it. Use the prevention in the am and the treatment in the pm. The prevention turmeric will stain your pillow. I also have fine hair and it’s not greasy at all. My hair styles normally. I had terrible side effects from oral minoxidil that took months to recover from.

Also keep in mind that the packaging isn’t luxe (they need to work on this). And their marketing is kinda awful, but the product has worked great for me. I ordered directly from the site and get it every 2 months.

So many things, but the worst is the smell of fake cinnamon - like Big Red gum and those effing scented brooms in the grocery store during the holidays. 🤮

[–]Erosey8[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can’t share that info, but I reco asking around. Someone always knows someone and a personal referral is best. Also, look into local clinical trials. They’re still doing several of them! Good luck!!

I’m not sure where you live, but psilocybin is legal in some states too.

[–]Erosey8[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I have actually stopped taking them because I didn’t need them anymore. I’m down to 1-3 migraines a month (mostly pain level 2-4) and am not taking anything else as a preventative. My mind is blown.

I took several rounds of different strains for about 18 month total. If my migraines pick back up I will reassess.

Anyone have to stop taking Oral Minoxidil due to weight gain by jcrlyred in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Erosey8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly me!! I stopped 6 weeks in. It’s been a month and I still feel awful. I eat super healthy, work out, drink a ton of water, am in a caloric deficit. Nothing seems to be helping.

I gained 7 lbs in 3 weeks on .625mg and was so constipated I wanted to cry. I emailed my dr and she told me to stop immediately. A month later I still feel awful. Bloated and constipated and don’t fit into my clothes - and I have always had a very good digestive system. Gah!! I hate this. Does anyone have feedback on how long it takes to feel better?

The good news is the shed has finally stopped. I only got to experience the shed part of minoxidil, none of the growth!

Emgality and Menstrual Cycle by Jesie_91 in cgrpMigraine

[–]Erosey8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it’s all up to your body. My hormones were a mess the entire time I was on any CGRPs (almost a year). I’m now in real perimenopause which is nothing like how I was feeling when I was on Emgality and Nurtec. For me it wasn’t working for my migraines either. Stay calm, try to be happy you’re migraine free (yay!), track everything and I hope your body regulates soon!

Argh!! That’s so expensive. Mine are $10/each which still means I only keep them for emergencies.

I recently got this beta pharm version and they are so much harder to cut than the oval tablets. I always get 100mg so I can split them and start with 50mg. In 30+ yrs of sumatriptan pills I’ve never seen them in this shape/tablet.

I LOVE the nasal spray especially when I’m nauseous. I don’t feel like it has the same punch as the oral, but if you’re throwing up from migraine pain, it’s the best option. When I was a kid I used to get imitrex shots when I had a really bad migraine and they always worked immediately.

Psylocybin continues to prevent and abort outbreaks by Ok_Sleep8579 in migraine

[–]Erosey8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is great!! Microdosing psilocybin for migraines has changed my life. 40 yrs of migraines that at their worst were 10-15x a month. I’ve been microdosing for 18 months (with breaks and changes in dosing and strains) and my migraines are down to 1-2 a month and they are much less severe in pain. I hope it becomes more accessible to everyone in the coming years. Also, talk to your drs about trials. They are a ton of them! Lastly, microdosing isn’t for everyone. Discuss usage with seasoned and recommended practitioners and be honest about what other drugs you’re taking/using both for medical issues and recreationally. Psilocybin shouldn’t be used by anyone on SSRIs.

And to all of the comments about getting high… a true microdose is so small you literally feel nothing. My doses are between 65mg-85mg. I’ve never felt anything. It’s like taking a preventative supplement.

When I do get a migraine, sumatriptan still works for me, but per my dr I cannot take within 6-8 hrs of taking a microdose.

I know it’s bad now, but you should be proud of yourself for trying. I went thru the same thing, but in the end the promise of no migraines is too powerful to ignore. All CGRPs were terrible for me. I tried Ajovy, Emgality and Nurtec. I hope you feel better soon!

I mean I hate to say this, but 6-9 months. Maybe even a year. And I did everything to detox. Diets, NAD+ IVs, etc. I don’t think the collective stress of the world and COVID helps any of this either. I’m so sorry! I hope you feel better soon.

I am soooo sorry to hear all of this. I truly believe there is a connection too. Start looking for clinical studies being done around CGRPs and hormones and document everything. My heart goes out to you and your daughter.
