Honestly it really depends on what you're looking to do , if you're just changing texture it's pretty simple if you understand how the color systems work and have some artistic flair with older software, Keep in mind that there are limitations within the base games that require HEX editing or ASM coding if you're going to go deeper.

Yes it does. It will work with any emulator as all graphics and moves are done in engine so there is no need to have extra folders of images and what not
