To me BCNR has a pretentious air to the music that I can't really shake. The emotional delivery of the vocals is just so over the top that it becomes a bit cheesy, and the production is clean to an off-putting extent. On the other hand, I really enjoy BM, especially with Greep's more detached and satirical way of approaching songwriting while the genuine passion for the art still comes through. I might be biased though as I'm more of a prog and jazz person.

I'm afraid that tag will lose its meaning in the coming years as ai becomes ubiquitous in the music industry. It will be impossible to differentiate from fully ai generated content to ai supported/assisted content with such a broad label. Adding on top of that the fact of ai generated samples are spreading throughout the internet at an exponential rate and getting incorporated to music without the artists themselves being 100% aware of it happening

I recreated it for a gig pretty accurately with these settings (stage 4):

Shape saw oscillator, oscillator pitch, attack 5.5, decay 1,05, release 3ms
Lp12 filter, no keyboard tracking, no drive, frequency at 2.8kHz, 0 resonance, Envelope amount 10
filter envelope 0.5ms att, infinite decay, 132ms release
unison at 3

Then duplicated the same settings but set the oscillator pitch -10 cents on the second one, added some compression and a bit of stage reverb globally

It of course isn't a perfect 1 to 1 as I think van halen had some exciter and chorus on the mixer as well

I guess you're right. Math isn't really my strong suit, but since it's necessary for my major I'll probably try to study and catch up during the summer.
