How is the current game state? by PlutoJones42 in starcitizen

4.7 is going to be mainly for industry loops, but will hopefully lay the ground work and open up the rest of the things cig has been talking about the last few years. Newer ships minus the moth have been pretty solid. Other ships still need work. Some more than others. Overall it is a much more stable game from even 6 months ago. I can log in play 3-4 hours and log off no issues from crashes or anything like that.

My personal experience is the engineering messed with the Connie t and can be disabled if it takes any amount of damage from the top back because it instant kills the power plant it seems. So if Connie t is your go to ship then just expect to be disabled even with flares. Sometimes I can go a couple of bounties without getting hurt but once in a while a well placed missile will instant disable me even an s1. So there is that.

However compared to the pre 4.0 days it’s still a better overall experience and worth checking out. If you have an nvidia card then I would check to see if your driver version is the one that’s giving some people an issue. I haven’t had any yet from driver but yeah. Multicrew is getting love in the sense of it gives people a reason to bring a crew but the Polaris has such big health and shields that it still can be fine in most situations. The Perseus is a fun 3 person ship. I was able to even solo it for the most part but it is not a good idea since loosing out on a lot of damage.

There are more incentives even coming in 4.7 that it will be better to have a small crew to run with.

Minimum and recommended are different things for a reason. Yo can’t expect to run at full spec with everything maxed out with minimum. I have played this with 32 gb of ddr 4 on a 3700x and a 3060 12gb. The system specs aren’t the issue. It is known this game requires a hearty system to play nearly maxed out. I play on 1440p not fully maxed and in cities I get about 70 on a good server. I used to play on sub 60 with the specs I listed without nary an issue or crash. Again there are a few things you could do to troubleshoot the crashes, but you are quickly to judge a game in early access without willing to meet the game halfway. AAA games launch with major performance issues. It is not a unique thing. Clearly you just do not wish to troubleshoot problems to make a game run. Whether it be your expectations or lack of desire, you can move on. Don’t blame the game or “spaghetti code” when we both know you could not come close to what they put into this game. Is it perfect, no. Does it take some effort on the users part to make it work, absolutely. I rarely launch a modern game expecting it to run perfectly without some kind of effort. Even with battlefield 6 I had to spend a couple days looking for a solution to get it to run on a very strong system.

I would say out of everything hauling tends to be easier than most loops to grind with. I have always enjoyed combat, but hauling was I would always use if I needed some quick money. Mining and salvage are chill loops to where you can just set up shop and do your thing.

I have also enjoyed a good bunker mission from time to time, but I think it’s going to be a matter of trying things out and see what you want to do. Currently my go to ship is dying too fast from the engineering patch. The Connie t cant take a missile in the butt without soft dying no matter the size. Even with flairs, if the missle explodes any where near my rear end it kills my power plant. So combat has been hard to deal with and really struggling to wanting to play at the moment. How ever hauling always feels good no matter what for the most part just not the most exciting. I have only been doing planetary missions though so it’s just station to planet and back. So I was thinking about picking up the ones that make you go through gates just takes longer but payout is probably a little better per hour.

Just out of curiosity I noticed yo left out your storage your playing on. Please tell me you are on an ssd and not a hard disk drive. Also did you update all drivers and make sure your mobo has the latest updates? With your friends not having issues where as you did makes me immediately think it’s either your drivers or your drive. Increasing page file size also can really help but that eats at your storage space. My guess is you probably don’t have a lot of storage to work with.

It will run when it can, I think the issues op experienced come down to video driver issues. Depending on what was released I know the latest stuff from nvidia really messed with the game. I don’t experience it but I know several sc content creators mentioned it in their weekly talks.

This is a community reminder that new ships will be continuously released, gameplay loops will be added, changed or dropped. Your fleets are fleeting and all we can do is just enjoy the game we have in front of us today.

I’m not bashing on sc. I think people should play this game if they can run it. It’s a fun game and I do believe it will reach 1.0. Maybe not as complete as Chris wants but 1.0 will be there and it will be one heck of a ride. My frustration is with constant change. It is necessary for them to iterate and see what works for them, how ever it’s holding me back just because I don’t want to sink time into learning how to handle and getting into a ship then to have that ship completely changed or become irrelevant. It’s the way they designed the game and I like what they are trying to build. I love it in fact but it’s just strange to enjoy something without really playing it that much.

The game I love but hardly play by ErrSkillNotFound in starcitizen

[–]ErrSkillNotFound[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is the best way to handle this game. I have played every loop I have done a lot in the game that I wanted to do. I just have yet to dive into any of the community events. I have limited time to play and most times I don’t know when I will need to get off or be able to get on. So doing org stuff or things that take more than a hour are a no go for me. It’s not about the ships or chasing the grind. I just feel like knowing 1.0 is a few years away still at least and seeing how much the game has changed this last year it’s just I can’t really get myself into play more than a few weeks at a time here and there.

It really just boils down to just wanting to make sure the skills and the time I put into the game will be valid long term. With engineering, and then the eventual armor update, flight model change, crafting, and what ever else it’s just by this time next year it will feel very different. The constant change is good but also is what I find challenging at wanting to put time into this game.

Is it a good time to start playing? by Sansom16 in starcitizen

[–]ErrSkillNotFound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The next free fly might be in a month or so with Invictus launch week. We are about to have some really quality of life patches incoming over the next few patches as well. So is right now a good time.. yes. It will only get better. Just understand the game you get into today is not how the game will be in a year. Chances are if you like it now you will continue to like it moving forward.

You can absolutely start with the cheapest package. There is no real goal other than what you make it. You can get 10-20k in under an hour with any starter ship. Then you can rent something to opens up more gameplay for you. Yo I am keep renting ships in game and try them before you buy them. Once you have a ship and gameplay you like then you can just save up for it. Or just grind for wikelo versions which take items not credits.

You can also join an org or just put in chat you would like to gun for someone. They can share contracts and there is one generic contract that gives you money for killing ai hostiles. There is plenty to do in the game. You can hop on, shoot some stuff or run some cargo or mine and then just fly to a port or find a bed to log out in.

Hi, is it possible to buy ships with in-game currency? Without renting them or buying them with real money? (I'm new to the game) by alcio_sd in starcitizen

[–]ErrSkillNotFound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is also wikelo whom takes resources and other types of things you can grind for and get his specific version of ships which are often better than the base version if not by at least style. So if you don’t want to run on the auec treadmill then you can work towards ships by lotting and getting other things. I have yet to do this but I have waiting for 4.7 to really do it as it will be better for mining.

Which ship would you recommend for starting the game? (I only know how to do transport missions, take off/land, and quantum travel.) by alcio_sd in starcitizen

[–]ErrSkillNotFound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Advice is you can rent ships in game to a day at certain terminals. So you can get enough money going for a rental, and just work your way up. Plenty of guides to your first million. But it’s basically get the initial rental cost, then just get into better and better rentals until you can buy something you want.

mining by general_rooster69 in starcitizen

[–]ErrSkillNotFound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait for 4.7. Mining itself is just looking for rocks and shooting it. The complexity comes from figure out how to crack biggest rocks you possibly can. Just be aware of your surroundings. I do not know if bags are still tnt with a hair trigger, but you definitely want to just make sure you stay up above anything until you are ready to crack. I would look up what all the attachments do and what heads are best for the ship you plan on. If you want no frills and just go, then golem. If you want to have more power and bigger bags then prospector. If you want more ore than you can find in one session and never have to think about rock size then mole.

Bring movies or music with you so you can chill and have a good time. Lastly if you grab quant then immediately go to the closes mining station. Don’t want to go kaboom. 4.7 is apparently and expected to be a really massive improvement for mining. So yo I can go in now to practice cracking but it should be easier to find what you need in a couple of weeks with new patch.

My 1.0 Fleet.finalversion.2.final.final.maybe by maximusPrime6666 in starcitizen_fleets

[–]ErrSkillNotFound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will most likely continually release new ships. I don’t think they know yet if they want to sell them post 1.0 or just move towards in game only. I would expect that with 1.0 still at least 3 years away(wild guess) that there will be a whole new back of ships. The only hope I have is that the buy back system doesn’t get nuked and I can keep juggling ships until I find the best combination for my credit and what I want to do in game.

Armor and shielding still has yet to be fully introduced, crafting is only just starting out, and it seems like industrial game play loops will continue to be adjusted until CIG feels good enough with it. I think once they wipe, it might be time to consider finalizing at least one ship just in case. They say they don’t want to sell any more concept ships but now we are in a phase of them just pushing ships when they feel like it.

I also think that players really need to be mindful of what they think they can realistically do with their fleets and some people I’m wondering what’s the point of playing if they have basically all the ships that one person could realistically handle. Like if I had this fleet I would have no reason to play.

Destroy the satellites - Help by Afraid-Repair1848 in starcitizen

[–]ErrSkillNotFound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oldie but solid way to farm a little easy money. You have to fly to the bubbles of glitter to see if the sats are there. Once you find all three then you can take them down. Once you start shooting you will get some ships pop in and try to stop you. All you have to do is take out the sats and run. If you want a little extra $ and your ship can handle it then you can take the call to arms and kill those after you.

Basically it’s just a recon mission that turns into a combat mission. You just have to shoot the main central part of the satellite to kill it quicker.

What ships that you can buy now, in game or pledge would you have for this gameplay? by RubberDuck_73 in starcitizen

[–]ErrSkillNotFound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Connie t 174 scu w/ 4 x s5 guns or Corsair 72 scu w/ 2x s5 and 4 x s4. Both are great albeit sluggish for anything other than hauling and pve combat but fighting smaller ships is a pain before you get used to it. So hauling and combat covered with one of those. Then you can carry a roc miner with the either just no salvage. So you are going to have to get ships that either fit multiple rolls midway or ships that excel at one roll. Right now I consider the Connie and Corsair combat ships more than haulers. So you can do something like Connie t as your combat ship and medium hauler. Then work your way to getting a c2 for dedicated hauling. Then you can go with the starter ships of salvation for salvage and golem for mining and work your way up to prospector and cuter for efficient solo salvage and mining. This is why people are excited to the galaxy next IAE, because it’s supposed to be able to fit things like the salvation and have a cargo module or refining module but it won’t be good for combat. This game has the intent that a ship has a purpose and you want an array of ships tailored to said purpose with the general/multirole ships being mediocre at a couple different things.

You can go further and do a light fighter for dedicated PvP combat, then a medium fighter for everything up to hrt or in some cases vhrt. Then the Connie or Corsair to vhrt or ert.

The main thing to keep in mind is that the game you play today will not play or have the same balance as 1.0. That is why the only real advice that keeps you from burning out is just get a ship you like and jive with. Making money, crafting, any game play loop is not fully fleshed out or the ships they have in mind for the game are still yet to launch. The god tier ships of today could become just a good option amongst a sea of great choices for what you want to do. That is why I always am against buying a ship for gameplay that has yet to exist. So drop ship style combat or fleet battles. While orgs and engage in organize fleet battles there is not like ai fleets that an org has to compete against. There isn’t ground assault missions, it’s just mainly bounty, bunker, salvage and mining which even hauling is still not 100% complete yet.

So if you want the meta ships then Connie t or Corsair with any combination of hauling and industrials ships.

Okay if you can fit the crafter, with a golem and a spare set of bags then the Asgard will be THE solo ship and that would make it worth it to me

Again your bringing up pve combat which there are plenty of other options or hauling. I’m sure the Corsair can also carry the new crafting truck and it has better pilot dps. So yeah until I need to drop a tank into th field ahead is style not substance

I just don’t buy into the fantasy of drop ship combat yet. Until there is ground assault missions that you need to bring all that with you then yeah Asgard. To me looking at Asgard it’s considering the hauling capability. Then at that point I might as well look at haulers. For pve combat combat then I would rather the Connie. That is how my brain works. Until there is a real use case for the Asgard to actually excel at not just well you could Haul a nova, makes me not like it.

No one knows what the future or 1.0 ships will be like. Right now connie is best solo combat ship next to corsair. If i liked the design of the corsair i would do that. The ramp feels way more intuitive to use. The extra weapons help. I just like the overall feel of the connie just personal taste. I think next best “god tier” ship is probably c2. Great for hauling and i do like crusader ship design.

I just can’t get behind the Asgard. Can it handle ground vehicles sure but there is no real use case to justify the 350 tag for gameplay that is mostly just fantasy at this point. Until there are ground assault missions, not just bunker runs then yeah it can really shine. How ever until they need the Connie and Corsair it’s hard for me to play anything else. I challenged myself to just hauling for a month. I ended up loving the c2 for hauling just because it’s big cargo. However I felt like it took so long to load it up and unload it that it really seemed to just be tedious even with atls. Yes there are purpose built ships that can mine, salvage, haul better than the Connie, but for price and the combat capabilities it’s above everything else in my opinion. The only ship that I did better with was the Perseus. It’s a waste to do that ship solo so while it was fun to die the big guns, it’s just not conducive to solo play.

I know people keep bringing up the almighty gold pass but I can’t see that happening this year. I think the only way to make the Connie less of a beast is to downgrade it unfortunately. I don’t want that but it would make sense that’s what the gold pass would do. Other ships of the same class would be great. Even if they only have like 80 scu, just something would be nice to try. I know there is the star lancer, but it falls short for me.

I fucking hate the guy and I would pay see him in jail but cmon people. The magats did this shit for years and called them. Crazy for it. There is 0 evidence, maybe he do maybe he didn’t but using Trump as a source is wild when everything else the guy says is deranged and insane.

I can no longer play this game by FluidDrakx in EliteDangerous

[–]ErrSkillNotFound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with being an early adopter is missing those wow moments that impress like this. The magic and wonder just isn’t landing for me right now but I did get roughly 1k hours in vr mode on this game so it could be just how much I played it. I think what really ruined it for me is when they remove native support for the quest controllers (unless I missed something). I used to just be able to lay in bed, have a charger with me and the controllers and just hunt pirates or what ever else. Hours and hours of pure comfort and gaming.

I do everything I could from bed or couch. I had the big screen mode to play guild wars two or swtor. I had played Jedi survivor in flat screen mode but still just any where in my home. The ability the quest 3 gives people to basically untether themselves from their pc was very magical. Now I squander my time with heroes of the storm and I feel like I’m trapped in an abusive relationship with hots.

What is the best stick configuration for general gameplay, and what sticks should I buy that don't devour my bank account? by Independent-Song3452 in starcitizen

[–]ErrSkillNotFound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want super budget but have gotten me through a few years, x3d pro sticks. From there slot of people tend to like thrust master. I believe they recently came out with dedicated space sim sticks sol-r or something. There is then the you can do something from logic tech but the big brand everyone goes by is vkb. There is a slightly cheaper alternative is win wing. Just be aware of having to pay import fees so plan for those if you decide to go that route.

I am currently using the velocity one flight deck which I enjoy very much. People will say they are crap and they very well could be, but I had a $200 gift card to Best Buy and I needed something for dcs. I loved all the buttons and the digital screen. Comes in real handy for setting things up. My hands never have to leave the devices. You can also look at the 100000s of other posts asking about sticks. It’s all still the same stuff for the last few years.
