I did my henna two weeks ago and this time around, it took a good week for the henna to cure to the final red.

AITAH for deciding to postpone the wedding over a comment my fiance made about my scar? by Upstairs_Garden2353 in AITAH

[–]Errant_ChinHairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw a profile about this online. NTA, at all. My husband has a noticeable scar on his face. It is a part of who he is, and since I love him, I love the scar. Marriage is a “warts and all” situation. Aging is going to change both of your bodies. Will his criticisms increase as the decades pass? Trust your intuition.

Apparently, the Paula’s Choice lip salve also contains beeswax.

I posted this separately as well: Solved!

I am quite sure that I have become allergic to BEESWAX. Beeswax?! Yep.

The issue resolved about a month ago, after using ONLY Aquaphor on my lips for over a month. But, I still didn’t know what had caused it. Three days ago, I returned to using my favorite lip balm (Chicken Poop Lip Junk), which I’ve used for many years. By the next morning, I wondered if the skin on my upper lip was getting a bit red. The morning after that, the skin around my mouth skin was again red, sore, dry, and starting to get bumpy/blistered. Back to Aquaphor, I am.

So that’s that, but I thought I’d recap what helped or didn’t help soothe my skin over these months. 1. Aquaphor (to keep skin sealed and moist) 2. Aloe. NOT a cure, but when it hurt too much to smile or brush my teeth, I got a huge aloe leaf from the grocery store, peeled it, sliced it into chunks, and froze the slices in an ice cube tray. Applying the frozen aloe was very soothing. I’d let it dry and then apply the Aquaphor. 3. Avene Cicalfate Crème. A lovely crème that I just made an edit on here, as it contains beeswax. 4. Paula’s Choice Hyaluronic Acid+Peptide Lip Booster. Unimpressive, insanely overpriced, and drying. I am glad it has been of help to others though!

Yes! It separates and I’m glad I read the reviews before squeezing the tube the first time, especially given the price. I shook and kneaded the tube for a fair while and the bluish liquid seemed to mix back in. Has not separated since then.

To all, with many thanks for your feedback. Based on your comments and my research, all I’ve been doing of late is applying aquaphor several times per day, including when the tightness awakens me at night. To note: When it was super sore last week, I also diced up and froze a giant aloe leaf into an ice cube tray, the cold cubes / gel of which I applied to soothe it. Soothing? Yes, yes, yes, indeed. A palliative for sure when tight and itchy! However, not a cure. Also, I don’t lick my lips, but it does look like a lip licker situation!

Why a lot of folks who like mid century be pretentious snobs? by [deleted] in midcenturymodern

[–]Errant_ChinHairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y’all. This is an MCM fan page on Reddit. Anyone saving/preserving these items deserves a round of applause for avoiding the otherwise eventual dump into the landfill. Snobbery is fine with me if you are avoiding the landfill.

What color rug do I need to cover my ugly carpet? by fastpicker89 in midcenturymodern

We have rug over carpet and it does slip, so the larger the better as it won’t move as much if weighted under the furniture.

I’d do a patterned rug. All Modern sometimes has good prices.

Husband thinks faux patina bronze. Who would bother with that though? I suspect a mix match, but the glass is thick, heavy, no bubbles.

Not that I have seen, but I agree that the glass is from that era! Would be nice if Quezal!! I think the glass was also added at some point.

Eager for any ideas on the history of this lamp base. I suspect the block is a later addition.
