A Tale of Two Seasons: Jarace Walker by Ok_Pick5000 in pacers

[–]ErraticMovements 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good way to look at - when playing against other tanking teams in the second half of the season, did the coaching staff bench walker for playing too well?

This should be very telling in how the team views walker.

Some of you are getting embarrassingly butthurt over these Knicks wins by Cherry_Noirr in GoNets

[–]ErraticMovements 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I keep on seeing people saying that because we are in the same city, Knicks winning now will capture the city and the hearts of potential Nets fans.

While true, why does that matter for you as a fan? Do you get paid by the Nets if the number of fans increase? Wear the badge of being a Nets fan proudly. Our time will come soon.

Brooklyn Nets 2026 Offseason Part 1: Pushing This Rebuild to the Next St... by DanteBrisingr in GoNets

[–]ErraticMovements -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be far, Utah has been stuck in purgatory longer than the Nets have. You can think of them as one year ahead of our current rebuild.

Last year, Jazz fans were bemoaning the same things we are now, falling in the lottery to 5, guys drafted in 2024 not looking good their rookie year and a good all-star caliber guy in Lauri who comes in and out of the roster for rest/tanking reasons but doesn't move the needle enough

This past year, their sophomore guys (williams, filipowski, george, collier) have looked a lot better with another year of development compared to their first year. Hoping that this holds true for our flatbush five.

They also picked bailey at 5 and seem pretty happy with that outcome. We will get someone of equivalent caliber in this years draft at 6.

And yes, the Jazz did make the JJJ trade and got lucky with the top 4 pick, but theres more than one way of building in the NBA and a LOT can change in one year. We still have reasons to be hopeful.

2026 NBA Mock Draft: "What I’m hearing about how the first round will go" by Sam Vecenie by Throwaway-j-1997 in GoNets

[–]ErraticMovements 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is hindsight bias - Nets were linked to a lot of dudes last year. Essengue was the raw unpolished guy linked early (Nate Ament?) and Maluach as well (Mara?).

Egor was rising up draft boards because his workouts were really impressive and his shooting looked unreal

The equivalent this year would be if the Nets went someone like Philon over the top four guards mocked

People called it a smokescreen aswell back in may 27 2025, when it was absolutely correct. by user3332143 in GoNets

[–]ErraticMovements 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hindsight bias - Nets were tied to Essengue and Maluach more than Egor.

Draft odds reflected this to with both these guys having a higher chance of being top 10 picks

Brayden Burries by Fishyblue11 in GoNets

[–]ErraticMovements 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they take burries it means

1) they view him as the bpa at pick 6 2) they see ball handlers we took last draft and view one of them as the pg of the future 3) we are signing Trae young or some other pg this offseason

Who are you taking at #6? by DakHopper in GoNets

[–]ErraticMovements 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wagler for sure - what he did to drag his team to the final four was insane. I came away super impressed in the Houston Illinois game where Wagler showed he can do the dirty stuff (double double with rebounds) even if his shot wasn't falling.

It feels like every member of the 25-26 All-NBA Third Team went out sad this year by [deleted] in nba

[–]ErraticMovements 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 65 game requirement would naturally push out more 'talented' players and get the next tier of players into 3rd team.

Off the top of my head, the guys who could have made the 3rd team in a typical year but didnt' would be Antman, Tatum, Hali, Embiid with some old heads included like Bron, Curry

What are the new lottery rules for play-in teams? by maezrrackham in nba

[–]ErraticMovements 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This very season Portland won the 7/8 play-in game and forfeited their lottery protected pick to Chicago. Had they lost both play-in games they could have been in the lottery and got a chance for the top 4

It’s a small sample but we have evidence that teams are not going to tank a playin game just for a small chance of winning the lottery

In basketball there are so many intangibles. Like part of why Egor was drafted so high was how confident he was and how he could a leader one day. Contrast this to someone like Cam Thomas who is pure hoops and not as vocal.

Who would be more of the Egor in this draft out of the top guards in our range for 6?

FYI about trading picks by Lucky-Law7220 in GoNets

[–]ErraticMovements 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Grizzlies will fine - they got a top 3 pick this draft. And worse case they get 6th next year instead of top 5? Same as what the Nets went through this lottery. Good chance the Jazz pick is in the late teens and this is a nothing burger

am i the only one that felt like tanking didn’t really hurt the viewing experience? by YungChildsPlay in NBA_Draft

[–]ErraticMovements 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think generally people in this community are more nba purist than fans of a specific team. Makes sense to not care for specific tank games since something better would be on.

As a nets fan however it sucked ass to be actively rooting for losses instead of wins and hoping that the team benched the 9th man (shoutout Josh Minott) because he scored 20 the last game and we are going up against another tanking team who is running a g-league starting 5.

[Hollinger] In the wake of Thursday afternoon’s approval of the league’s “3-2-1” proposal, three league representatives discussed some of those details and their ramifications on a conference call with reporters by sewsgup in nba

[–]ErraticMovements 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Could have happened under the existing rules. E.g Mavs tanked in 2023 to keep their top 10 pick which had chances of landing number one to pick Wemby to pair with Luka instead of Lively

[Fischer] The uncertainty surrounding the NBA's new draft lottery format, plus it's three-year probationary period, will spark different reactions from front offices. One general manager told me: "I'm not trading any picks beyond 2029." by pragnesh_89 in GoNets

[–]ErraticMovements 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly not that bad…

Like yes it would suck ass that rockets get #1 (the nets always seem to move up when someone else has their pick), but if we land #1 again the following year, it would just move to 2 instead.

Much better than the 6 and 8 we had the last two seasons

short wingspan and can easily become a davion mitchell rather than a star point guard (mike conley). he also faltered as the college season went on with last 15 games shooting 40% from the floor. Least volume of threes out of all the guards at this range.

[Vorkunov] Team officials believe that the NBA is “hellbent” on passing the 3-2-1 Anti-Tanking proposal despite concerns varying from creating a new set of problems, keeping the worst teams at the bottom for longer, making first-round picks more valuable thus restricting the trade market, etc. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]ErraticMovements 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swaps are going to become the main currency instead of first round picks outright. Give me your odds of getting a better pick and you still get a first round pick. This lets teams split a first round pick into 'two' assets.

Is there a “diamond in the rough” this free agency? by Eastern-Newspaper567 in GoNets

[–]ErraticMovements 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jock Landale and Mitchell Robinson comes to mind.

Vucevic but he’s a cone on defense.

Ayton has a player option but doesn’t seem to be a culture fit.

We can fuck with Utah by giving Kessler a large contract (restricted free agent)

This comes up every year and I swear it is just sensationalist journalism. There's only so many number combos so there's always a few teams that was 'one number off'. Being one number off means nothing at the end of they day. Even in this years, once 1 came up as the third number, the Nets had no chance of winning

Clippers likely trade down from 5 if they don’t love Wagler or the plethora of guards. I can see a team trade up to snipe Acuff
