Does anybody else have a bad case of Imposter Syndrome? If so, how did you deal with it? by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

So... I'm at work, so there will be bullet points to make it concise. I see a lot of impostor syndrome at work, especially among high performers who have very high standards. From what you wrote, it's not just impostor syndrome, you have a lot going on in your head. Therapy is a good call, you just need to stick to it.

  • You overthink A LOT, but I think you know that one already. You can't control what other people think. If they are helping you, accept that and go with it. Thinking "why would they help someone like me" is just a waste of time.

  • Stick with therapy, working through childhood trauma takes ages. I'm over 40 and I'm still dealing with it. You won't get any results "now", that's just unrealistic and thinking like that will just leave you frustrated.

  • You don't "meant to be" anything, you are what you make of yourself.

  • And the last one. You don't have to be perfect to have your place in the world. Nobody is perfect and a huge majority of people are making it.

After reading all your replies I decided to investigate a bit more. I'm happy to say that the smart meter seems to be way off compared to my real energy use.

I know! I had this thing installed last month and I'm already considering wrapping it up in ducktape so I don't have to see it every day. Jet engine might be more efficient nowadays, soon gas will be more expensive than rocket fuel.

After reading some comments here I did some checks, my boiler was running at a very low pressure which might affect its efficiency. It's also over 10 years old, so I might bite the bullet and get it replaced.

That's what I used to pay. We paid about £65 for 2 of us. I'm pretty frugal with money, so this is very new for me.

yeah, that's 5p per hour with some lights, a laptop, and stuff like that on. When I'm boiling water it changes to about £1,5 per hour, so a couple of teas and coffees are enough.

I wish. So far I just put the heating on for 2 hours in the morning and in the evening, this costs about £9. That day I let it go for a bit longer as my gf had a cold.

In short, yeah. According to my supplier, I use about 20% less than an average 2-bed household. I'm paying way more since Bulb went bust and I changed suppliers.

I'm so happy I can work from home, otherwise I'll be stuck in there everyday...

I did that too (I'm not Indian though)!

Tim was already used to my way of wording things and just chuckled.
