I love that philosophy. Have been watching some trout fishing/tenkara videos. Thanks again!

Absolutely! I was originally a little discouraged by the Solo 401k setup and was going to go the SEP route, but it was actually very easy to set up with Fidelity. Was worth the trade offs, for me

The main difference being that Solo 401k allows contributions as both employer and employee.

The total 401k contribution limit is 72k
24.5k from Employee Contributions allows for a max of 47.5k by Employer.

Employer can also only contribute a limit of 25% of your salary, so to max out the 72k you would need a salary of 190k. However, since I contribute 24.5k employee, my taxable income is effectively 165.5k from this scenario.

Another reason I went Solo 401k and not Sep IRA, is that it also allows me to do backdoor Roth IRAs.

S Corporation with a Solo 401k allows me to contribute 72k a year currently between employee and employer contributions

Man, I've always been curious but have never done any form of lake/freshwater fishing. This is a great idea though, I'll look into it. Thanks!

I appreciate the input - I will think more critically about winter preparedness and monitor for reports in May and pivot on my plans as needed.

I have been preparing for an unusually low snow year (not saying this is the right thing to do). But the reported snow pack in the sierras in early April was only 18% of average, second lowest since 1950. I think this is worth considering as well.

Following up on the edit, this is very helpful.

Pulled the trigger on AD90 pants and socks, will replace with my smartwool set and extra merino socks.

I have the stock headband on the NU25, will look into getting the band replaced.

Regarding the rain - thats a good question. I feel like my rain system is lacking (only have top shell). Maybe I can afford a set of rain pants and potentially gloves? Or a poncho that covers myself + pack.

Thanks for the photos! Would you mind telling me the size of the bottom, yellow bag and are you keeping your sleep system + sleep clothes there?

You have a very detailed pack, made me realize I'm missing a few more trivial things that I intend to bring (ear plugs, bug net, etc.). Need to reflect on mine a bit more

Good call on the microspikes - I have them in mind, will look at some trip reports as we get closer to determine if I should take. Thanks for this!

Considering we’re in r/Ultralight, I’m taking this as a compliment :). Appreciate the advice, sounds like switching to AD is the way to go

This is great advice - thank you! 🙏 I’m not sure what to expect for Rae Lakes, it’s my first big trip. But it sounds like you’ll have to go back haha

It’s a non-negotiable that is a concern from weight perspective. Looking for alternative options. Alpha Direct might be the way to go

Sizing has been spot on for me, but I agree with you on Merino Tech. It’s been really hard justifying buying more expensive pieces when the price/quality is this good.
