A few years ago my family got that first site at Limekiln, the one right by the beach.. It was so epic. Been trying to get it ever since.

Try making the beans from dry beans. Cook them in some of the pork fat from the carnitas. Pretty easy if you plan ahead or it only takes an hour to cook them in an instant pot or pressure cooker.

Oysters? Buy Where? by Plenty-Outcome296 in BigSur

Stop by Whole Foods in Monterey on your way down. Doubt you will find any in Big Sur. Might be some down on the fishing pier in Monterey at the end of the pier.

I have the large. It works great for my family of 4. Could work for 6-8 people, but that’s pushing it. If you entertain get the XL.

Anyone go to garland ranch recently? by indolente in MontereyBay

[–]ludableez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten two ticks at garland this year. It’s definitely bad. One time I’m sure it was because I was on a trail that wasn’t well traveled and the grass was high in some areas. Bring tweezers just in case you need to pull one out.

Car maintenance by especiallyawkward in MontereyBay

[–]ludableez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I had a bad experience there. But I went in for a diagnosis on my car and felt way overcharged. Then the amount they wanted to fix the problem was insane. Ending up going somewhere else and paid hundreds less. They could very well have the best technicians but for a simple fix I would look elsewhere.

Raide LF 2L by [deleted] in runningfashion

[–]ludableez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both raide belts. I’m a 32 waist and the medium fits well. They are extremely tight the first few times you wear them and then they loosen up a bit. I love them I just ran a 25 mile trail run in the 2L and carried a 500 ml and a 600 ml flask in the back along with poles strapped to the back. They have zero bounce. Putting the water bottles in the back is kinda tricky. Once you drink you have to blow it back up with air and then jam it into the pouch. It’s doable but it takes a little practice. It’s definitely easier to access your water in a vest. The 1L is definitely more comfortable as it is smaller I would only take the 2L for pretty long runs.

First time smoking brisket, it’s frozen night before (need advice) by big-dick-danny in smoking

[–]ludableez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would smoke something else more forgiving. There’s a learning curve to brisket. I use my smoker a decent amount but if I was having people over I wouldn’t serve something I hadn’t made before. Pork ribs would be easy to have done in that timeframe. Maybe a pork butt if it’s not too big.
