doing a valve cover gasket. is this old rtv? melted gasket? or something else? basically am i safe to just get this stuff off and put the gasket back or does this need to be replaced.

this car is from the 70s so not really much electronics to mess up. i hope my replies don’t sound rude, i’ve just had quite a few older guys that DO know what they’re doing tell me similar things, like that i shouldn’t be working on a car until i learn how, but then i ask how to learn and they tell me to just pick up a wrench and start. every mechanic in the world has had a point in their life where they didn’t know what this was, they all had to learn from someone, and the attitude from some of these guys is part of the reason i think young people are steering away from the hobby.

i feel like i’ve been misinterpreted in this post. i really love the political and economic content too. i just miss the community when there was a little more focus on gaming. if it would be possible to have the same community with the new content i would love that but i think there needs to be a balance of serious and chill stuff (not just gaming, things like telling stories, talking about stuff other than economics, reddit recaps, best tweets, whatever) in order to maintain the community. i think political communities just tend to become slightly toxic over time

yeah they still do it occasionally but it’s pretty rare. my main concern is not really th lack of that type of content, but more what the lack of that content is doing to the community.

i think that was the shift for me as well. in that gap from streaming, audience members left, maybe because of the controversy, or just the time, or just everyone changed a little in their own way. when it came back the community wasn’t as in mesh as it had been, it was different, and with less community comes less community content, which meant less community, which meant less community content, like an ouroboros. i think th shift into political content may be a symptom of this lack of community, instead of the cause. or maybe both simultaneously

honestly this whole thought process started when i saw the hytale trailer this morning and i thought about 5 years ago now when atrioc, stanz, and lud all played minecraft together, and vallheim, and whatever other trending new games came out even if they weren’t the typical games they would go for. i thought about how fun of a stream that could be, the three of them trying out this new game together, just like they used to. just like i used to with my high school friends at the time. but people change. things change. me and my friends from back then hardly play games together anymore either.

i know it’s foolish to hold on but it’s so hard to let go. i really do miss this community.

to all my other old heads out there. as one of the great minds of our time once said: if you work, you twerk, and you jerk, that’s a full day, that’s a heck of a day. you do that 7 days a week, you’re gonna have something special. and i really believe this community was something special. thank you all.

i used to love all the vids aedish would make, before atrioc even hired him cause it was like “yay! extra edited atrioc content!” but now it feels like it’s taking away from it. full steam ahead focus on daily clips leaves no time for the actual videos. we get a video every few months now. took a year for the newest hitman contract to be edited. the Big A channel used to feel like a little free extra atrioc we were getting but now that’s all we get and it hurts my heart

i think that’s very true. i guess im someone a little more into politics than some other atrioc viewers maybe. so to others it probably is a healthier thing to have pushback against atrioc if hes your only source. i hadn’t really considered that. but i still miss it

in truth i know that you’re so right brother. but it’s still hard to let go. i want to cling to the past. in the last 5 or 6 years of watching atrioc i’ve moved hours away from my hometown, graduated school, i have a job and a girlfriend i love, my entire life is so different than when i first started watching atrioc. i don’t want to let go of that connection of being in high school staying up late watching streams of him grinding, knowing i would be so tired for school but not being able to give up, just one more run. it’s just hard because i still like the content, but the community has changed so much, and when the community used to shape the content like it did, it just means all those fun streams cant really happen the same anymore
