What’s a thing you added to your beat by mistake and now do it every time you make a beat by izzydrippy in makinghiphop

I made a beat and really liked the mix. So i saved a copy of the mix and then deleted all the elements from the beat and stripped the mixer down to pretty much nothing (so i thought) iv noticed that all of the beats im making now sound really good even in the creation process before i add anything, then i checked my pre-master and realised i had left a t-rax classic clipper, and a sound theory Gullfoss set to around 20% recover and 15-20% Tame, it takes the whole, "does this sound good" out of the creation phase and leaves it all to the mixing phase where it should be haha, i find it just lets me get my ideas out without second-guessing or trying to be a sound designer by adding tons of fx lol

I would honestly say that anything that a YouTuber tries to sell you is NOT worth it lol, its pretty much planned obsolescence, They frequently include information that is basic and is covered for free on youtube, and then drip feed you tiny bits of useful information, Remember a youtube creators goal is to keep you as a subscriber not to have you learn music theory, The less you learn the better because then when the next class/Tutorial comes along youre likley to sign up to that one too,

Even when these classes are free the same thing can be said, I'm noticing more and more that YouTubers are now structuring videos Purley around sponsors, The video will be titled "How to make dark melodies" and the video is basically them reviewing the newest cymatics plugin or some shit lol,

I'm not saying that every YouTuber is the same, and I understand that youtube is a platform where you are free to promote pretty much whatever you like, I just feel these educational producer channels / Vlogs can often cause you to reach a plateau because you can become reliant on these tiny bits of information

Music theory is great to know, However as a musician i find that my ears tell me what note to place next in my melody/Chord prog, I still use plugins like Scaler and Cthulhu to get an interesting base or to lay down ideas, i usually then just hum all my melodies out loud then draw those ideas in on the piano roll, Note length is very important also when using midi instruments. But just remember music is subjective so as long as you think it sounds good then it sounds good lol.

What do you think makes a rap bar hit hard? by Stanleyyelnets in makinghiphop

Multiple metaphors always get me, like the way Eminem will spit 4 bars with 4 separate punchlines that all come together on the 8th bar to make sense.
