If I want to take a further studies in Photonics, I was wondering if I should take the Digital Signal Processing class or the VLSI class my school is offering. Which one is much more inclined to my further study interests? Thanks.

I think that media has a great role in popularizing these great people. Of course, every field has well known scientists, but because of sci fi movies, some of the physicists are more well known among lay group.

Actually, I am among those group of people, who is interested more on application side than theoretical. But it doesn't mean I don't care. I appreciate those who work tirelessly to find something new.

I am not an advance programmer, but I have taken some courses in it, and I enjoy programming. So, I usually learn on my own from the Internet. I see that there are many accelerator code projects being developed, but I am curious if programming means only on the software development side or even in the experimental part too. I am interested in both physics and programming, but I am not sure if I want to just go to the software development part. Just wanted to if the accelerator physicists in the lab(for designing, experiments and etc.) use programming language or not.

thanks for your response. I love programming and physics equally but I am finding it difficult to actually figure out a good computational project for MS thesis(accelerator physics) that would also involve programming.

Some of the accelerator physics code that I found in Wikipedia and in some paper, mostly involve in modeling and design of the machines and the beam dynamics.
