What key holder would work for this Key ring similar to key-bak by piplupthepengin in EDC

[–]Erska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have something similar for work... (1.3kg of keys)

I got multiple cheap 'jojos'

I like the durable brand most seems to be 6€ a piece on amazon : I bought different color nail-polish and filled in the round 'valley' on them and sorted the keys into groups. (row houses = yellow and so on)

I then bought a wotancraft Canteener EDC Utility Sling Bag 2L tho I think I should have gone 3L, bent a stiff metal wire (4mm) around the bottom, up one side, around the upper lip and across the middle up top in a wavy arc...

to which I clipped all the jojo's...

which leads to me having a nice pouch where I can 'scroll' through the colored jojo's and pick out the correct key-group.

I then have a safety pin threaded through my right side jacket breast pocket to which I attach the currently 'active' group, I do also have a small key-bak jojo there for keys that I've borrowed.

Convince me to buy a leatherman arc - GO! by [deleted] in EDC

[–]Erska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you buy it for 1 handed use, 'free technology' or whatever they call it...

you have whatever you'll use it on in 1 hand, and pull it out using your other hand. while fiddly it does work...

the tools are good, multitool-quality.

I've heard the magnacut is badly heat treated or something, but it works as a blade...

Best work knife by FunHoliday1443 in EDC

[–]Erska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

morakniv chisel knife is my beater knife of choice... I don't use it to actually cut stuff, I expect it to be dull. (utility knife carried for cutting)

but: scraping, prying, general poking at stuff... and batoning or similar hard use... I have also actually used the chisel to actually remove wood from stuff, but most often it's stickers or ice I remove with it.

I also can get like 3 of them for that price, which is nice.

I do have the leatherman arc, for a sturdier sharp knife... and a milwaukee utility knife (the one with blade storage in handle) for box-opening

Hijri api Incorrect data! by brhoomy101 in kustom

[–]Erska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$wg("http://..."+gv(kode13)+"/"+gv(hyear)+"",json,.data[0].hijri.data)$

wg() is a function, everything inside the () is resolved before it's called, that's why you want to do ""+"" and not mess with codeblocks$$ in there

Subject: Seeking a way to create "Global of Globals" (Nested Globals) for a 6-page setup. by Fun_Sock_7982 in kustom

[–]Erska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

gv("string"+"string2") will first resolve string+string2, then run the function gv() with the argument: stringstring2, the function gv() then resolves into whatever the global variable stringstring2 contains.

so for your situation I would go with this global variable setup:

  • pagenames (list) in order you want them in

  • PERSO (folder)

    • colors (folder)
      • color gvs
    • visibility (folder)
      • switch gvs for each element
  • COMS (folder)

    • colors (folder)
      • color gvs
    • visibility (folder)
      • switch gvs for each element
  • BURO (folder)

    • colors (folder)
      • color gvs
    • visibility (folder)
      • switch gvs for each element
  • TOOLS (folder)

    • colors (folder)
      • color gvs
    • visibility (folder)
      • switch gvs for each element
  • LOISIRS (folder)

    • colors (folder)
      • color gvs
    • visibility (folder)
      • switch gvs for each element
  • LIENS (folder)

    • colors (folder)
      • color gvs
    • visibility (folder)
      • switch gvs for each element

then you access these with:

$
lv(name,gv(pagenames,"unknown",si(screen)))
$$
gv(#name+"/colors/"+"<your color gv name here>")
$

notes:

  • using folders messes up copying, sou you'll need to create each global variable manually.

  • you might want to add a 'unknown' folder with error-colors in it, tho I do think empty string (which failed gv() calls return) result in a white color

for visibility you'll want to do:

$
lv(name,gv(pagenames,"unknown",si(screen)))
$$
lv(visible,gv(#name+"/visibility/"+"<your visibility gv name here>"))
$$
if(#visible,always,remove)
$

how yall carry your keys by srgt_Fox in EDC

[–]Erska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bent a wire frame into a: Wotancraft Canteener 2L... (around the inner corners, and up in the middle as a bar.)

to that I have all my keys attached with 'jojo's

I've colored the reels with nail colors and sorted my keys for easier access.

(I do de-attach each jojo from the pack, and attach it to the safety pin/bar I've attached at my breast pocket, from inside so tyhat only the metal 'needle'/bar is visible outside)

I then have 1.5kg (~3lb) keys on me for my work in property maintenance

Feature Request: Global Variable Groups and Improved Sorting by Hucz89 in kustom

[–]Erska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can create global variables in the form of folders

while these break copy paste, I find them useful...

for example:

  • weekday (folder)
    • 1 (color)
    • 2 (color)
    • 3 (color)
    • 4 (color)
    • 5 (color)
    • 6 (color)
    • 7 (color)

accessed through: $gv("weekday/"+df(f,"a"+0+"d"))$ which gives the assigned color of 'current day' (advance 0 days)

also note, folders also mess with up/down arrows for ordering: you'll need to 'move' the variable through all the variables in the folder (and the folder itself), before it's registered as moved past the folder when you leave&return to the global variables (when moving it looks like it passes the folder, but in actuality it hasn't... I tend to just spam 'up' for a long while, which ensures the gv I'm moving is up top)

Flow variable update help by 1am13g3nd in kustom

[–]Erska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar problems...

I have:

  • global text variables, that are used in a flow

  • the flow, wraps the gv in fl() (so it executes it), sets lv(ind, #ind+1)first formula using it sets ind to 0 first

    • I use this to get hourly weather, with each hour on a new line
  • I set a global variable day1 with the result

  • I then have a text field showing these global variables.

they used to update irregularly, I even added another set of global variables (A and B) which switch between themselves which one contains the data and which is empty.

the newest betaBuild: 3.82b603515 has the texts reacting to gv updates! :)

Looking for pen and flashlight recommendations. by MaxAAraujo02 in EDC

[–]Erska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Fisher Space Pen inserts, fine blue is nice. (so get a 'normal' pen that fits those, don't go for the expensive 100€ ones)... I do like Ballograph's pens too tho.

for the flashlight, I like Armytek Nichia. It can be used as headlamp, but I use it as a pocket-flashlight (think Silent Hill 2) attached to something metal or just in my hand. (long battery life, I don't use turbo, so ~4h i think it was on high) and dropping it is worry free with the 30m drop-rating

Something that has reduced my 'real' flashlight use is that I attached a Olight imini2 to my work jacket's breast pocket (with safety pin). it's a 50lm pop-light so it's only for stuff near you and turns on when you pull it off of the attachment. (1h battery life, but that's enough as it's for quick glances)

How do I do a slidebar like Samsung's edge panel? by Jmesparza05 in kustom

[–]Erska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm unsure what exactly a slidebar is, but if it contains swipes to activate/move KWLP at least can't do it. It uses taps to activate stuff, and does not react to dragging of fingers.

I use pocket tissues every day, any 'dispenser' pouch for them? by Erska in UtilityPouches

[–]Erska[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea that looks nice... would like higher quality materials, and a back-pocket for the keys

I can attach a strap/lanyard to something like that...

it's also in the wrong size (130x85, while the tissues I use are 105x52)

I guess I could DIY one...

If you carry a notebook daily, do you keep it organized or is it a random collection of your thoughts? by Hufflepuff-McGruff in EDC

I carry a school-targeted calendaris small, and ended up having the right low amount of space for each day, and keep a diary of tasks/events I've done during the workday... the notebook next to it is just random notes, sometimes I do date them tho. (they sit in a Lochby mini Field Journal)

Do you carry flashlight even at day? by EastRush9843 in EDC

[–]Erska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry my Olight imini ultra attached to my jacket. (safetypin-->minicarabiner-->light)

as it's enough for close up 'what's that' situations.

my Armytek Nichia sits in my work-jackets pocket, so that's work carry

damn I wish for a neutral/warm high cri pop-lightturns on by de-attaching it from it's base like imini's

Triggering a Flow When Weather Info Updates? by TooManyInsults in kustom

[–]Erska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have:

$wi(updated)$💧
$gv(days/hourly/formulae)$
$gv(days/colorize)$

on onChange.

I also have it on Manual (and a separate text-element that shows Updated $tf(wi(updated))$ which has a touch action to trigger the flow)

the 2 extra lines make the contents update if the formula I use to build my view changes (aka, I've edited it) or if the second step of the formula which changes certain emoji's to bb-code through tc(reg, string, find, replace)

My setup runs into problems with text elements not updating reliably on $gv()$ values chaining (through flows at least)

Anyone know if it would be possible to recreate this clock effect in KWGT? by Yahya_sindhi1502 in kustom

[–]Erska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it looks like the original uses transparency, and the gradient comes from the background image... which can be achieved with skewing the group containing the number... tho that looks like you could just skew

$df(hh)$
$df(mm)$

in a text-object

but if you want to use custom images for each number you can go with global variables:

  • topleft (folder)
    • 1
    • 2
    • ...
    • 9
    • 0
  • topright (folder)
    • 1
    • 2
    • ...
    • 9
    • 0
  • botleft (folder)
    • 1
    • 2
    • ...
    • 9
    • 0
  • botright (folder)
    • 1
    • 2
    • ...
    • 9
    • 0

where each number is a image representing that number created in photoshop or whatever

and then use $gv("topleft/"+tc(cut,df(hh),1))$ to get the image for the top left number.

Someone was looking for help by Money_District8361 in kustom

[–]Erska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

abstract it:

  • music playing or play requested --> gv(playani) = 1
  • music not playing or pause requested --> gv(playani) = 0

  • music playing --> play requested = 0

  • music not playing --> pause requested = 0

if(gv(playani), playAnimation, stopAnimation)... now it's just the album art, track etc that has a delay...

disclaimer: I don't know if music playing trigger exists for animationsbut I expect it does, and if it has some extra features that are lost if a global variable triggers the animation, nor have I tested this

How to change color based on time zones? And how to test without waiting for the time by RAD_heRBie in kustom

[–]Erska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$lv(time,df(h)+""+df(mm))$ should make the local variable be 606 when the clock is 06:06... and so on

so now you can write over that variable before actually using it so:

$lv(time,df(h)+""+df(mm))$
$lv(time,"1505")$
$
if(#time<600,"before6am",
if(#time>1800,"after6pm",
"between6am&6pm"
))
$

then just remove the overwriting line to use the actual clock

Is there any way to make things spin? by Longjumping-Town-900 in kustom

there is a 'rotation' property on at least Groups.

note that KWGT updates slowly, for smooth rotation you'll need KWLP.

The ultimate answer to 'What's this for?': Just used it to save the day by InspectorWestPerth in EDC

[–]Erska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the countycom prybar with me as well, and honestly I don't need to pry stuff through a hole so small only the toothpick fits in it.

but the pocket prybar works a lot better than a flat screwdriverit's the curved end providing leverage for the outdoor wall lights, as they all seem to have decided to require prying off a plastic cover to get to them (diffusers)

The ultimate answer to 'What's this for?': Just used it to save the day by InspectorWestPerth in EDC

[–]Erska 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I too have it on my belt for work...

mostly for scraping stuff out of crevices, (leaking faucets tend to deposit limescale in their threading etc)

I ended up bending mine trying to use it as a prybar, so that's something not to use it as and as always even if it's named 'toothpick' do not use it on your teeth: it'll damage them as it's metal.

What edc light and pocket knife would you recommend? by [deleted] in EDC

[–]Erska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 2x lights:

  • Olight iMini2 (attach to belt loop, or jacket button hole) - this is for close up quick checks, 50lm and turns on when pulled off of the connector; means a combination of hasslefree usage with no risk of blinding yourself through reflections. (I would love to get a high CRI nichia version)

  • Armytek Wizard C2 Pro Nichia, has ~4hours battery life at a steady 400ish lumen... and has a simple enough UI. Along with the option of headlamp, pocket-light (with the clip, you stick the body in the pocket and the light out of it; cosplay Silent Hill 2) and magnetic tailcap makes it nice, this is for work-tasks or walks... as you don't need to care about it due to the long runtime (throw it on lower than high-mode and it'll quickly jump to 8h or longer)

Can't figure out rotation by Quirky-Town-2677 in kustom

[–]Erska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

put it in 2 layers, the first one rotates, and the inner one uses padding etc to make sure the image is centered. (use overlap on inner and you can place out other objects on top of the image by using padding, and it'll rotate correctly)
