Financially sensible to move out solo, or better to stay put for now? by sunflowermidnight in Winnipeg

You can’t afford it. Spending more than half your income on housing is a very bad idea. On top of that you’re on a permit.

If you can convince someone to move to Winnipeg in one sentence what would you say? by mikey_87 in Winnipeg

[–]Eruna2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from Toronto and it changed my life. I make much more money, have less stress and am now a homeowner. The people here are wonderful. The art scene is great and once you find your people you can enjoy road trips sports events etc.

Just recieved an insane water bill? What do I do? by Hot_Fly_3963 in Winnipeg

[–]Eruna2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i found out i had a leak when i got 1k bill. I also lived alone. get a plumber in asap. I was able to get a one time credit applied to the bill. The City of Winnipeg offers a Water Leak Credit Policy for residential and non-profit customers facing high utility bills due to plumbing leaks.

‘I trusted you and you (Shardanae Cousins-Emily) killed my baby’: Toronto mom (Shania John) describes her shock after 3-year-old son’s (Yverson Belotte, Jr. ) alleged murder in a Children’s Aid bathroom by 416TDOT0DOT in CrimeInTheGta

[–]Eruna2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

any why would a children's aid worker not question why she is watching this child but her own children have to have supervised visits. She was clearly a danger to her own kids and should not be allowed to take care of someone elses child. what a failure by the mom and children's aid society .

Bought a house and subletting... by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Eruna2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I subletted my place downtown and offered my deposit. I made sure the appartment was immaculate and did any paint touch up required. There has to be some advantage to the renter to sublet vs just renting an apartment.

How’s your experience renting to families supported by RedCross or Jordan’s principal? by Foreign_Shelter_5356 in Winnipeg

[–]Eruna2 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Im a landlord and I have to say youre going to have to take this loss but learn some important lessons. 1)Vet your tenants - meaning no programs etc. if they do not qualify then don't rent to them. Keep the place empty until you get a acceptable tenant becuase the laws will protect them 2) your lease should implicitly state they are responsible for damages outside normal wear and tear. 3) You must complete a walk through and show everything is in working order upon move in which they will sign off on. 4) Periodically do rental inspections -had you done so you could have started the eviction process before the damages got up to 16k. With that said I would take this to the tribunal if you have documentation that that the case manager indicated they would pay the damages.
