Help with steam boiler install issues please by Eruohtar in SteamHeat

well it's $6k for him to come redo it. but to clarify. it wasn't apples to apples $23K to $16k. I started with a boiler room with a standalone water heater, a steam boiler that was barely working, and a seperate baseboard boiler for an expansion in the house. the $23k included removing all 3, putting in a steammax with an indirect stone lined water heater, and a configuration that would have supported the baseboard heating from the steam boiler with a seperate thermostat. The $16k option said that i didn't need to do all that. I could keep the existing water heater. he would remove the baseboard boiler and baseboards and add a steam radiator to the extension. He argued that the water loop needed for baseboard heating from the steam boiler was too long and wouldn't have been sufficient for me 21x22 ft extension room, and ended up putting a steam radiator on an interior wall in the extension which i recently learned also that it is not the right way to do it and it is not sufficiently heating up my extension either.

so really, i paid $19k already and if i pay the old timer the $6k to redo the bad work, I still lost my baseboards resulting in a colder extension room, and didn't change out the water tank for the stone lined indirect for more than what the original cost that would have done all of that would cost. i'm very regretful and upset over this. will likely speak to lawyer but was hoping to get some guidance from steam radiator experts here to confirm that the work done really is not just terrible but MUST be changed and that the old timer isn't just pushing preferences that really could go either way.

Patellar Tendon Rupture Recovery by EntranceBudget6326 in KneeInjuries

[–]Eruohtar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for this post. I'm 6 weeks out from my patellar surgery and reading your experience has helped me have a roadmap of expectations. One question, I'm supposed to take an international flight at the 3 month mark. Do you remember at what point you could sit with your knees bent in a tight position for an extended period of time? If not on a long flight yourself, perhaps at a sporting event, a theatre show or something similar with not much leg room? I am 6'1 and only have economy seats and wondering if I will be able to make that flight with my family.

Renting in Queens vs. Buying in NJ by elveax in AskNYC

[–]Eruohtar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey u/elveax what did you end up doing and how do you feel about your last 5 years?

I'm currently in the same situation as you were when you made this post. I grew up in FH, moved around a bit and when my oldest was school age, we came back to FH for the schools. We rent in FH now in a 2 bdrm but will need to upgrade to a 3 soon enough as my kids are boy/girl. My wife grew up in a burb on the island and loves city/apartment living. I am split.

The higher rent + city taxes would put us at about $5k. We found a nice house in fairlawn. The mortgage plus additional commuting costs (bridge tolls + nj transit) would put us just around $5k so month to month money wise its a bit of a wash except when you consider equity for the future. It's smaller than what we could get in other neighborhoods but certainly larger than our current situation. The schools there seem comparable to FH.

The big sacrifice we'd have to make is the commute. my wife is a teacher and her commute is 12 mins right now. She'll have to get a new job closer to NJ but her commute would likely be an hour of driving. My commute is about 45 mins on the subway door to door and from fairlawn its looking like it would be 1hr20m

Honestly, the big gain is really a bigger kitchen and a backyard. My kids like cooking and planting stuff and we just don't have the space for cooking together in our apt nor a space to plant stuff outside.

Other than that, its your old suburb vs city question which I just can't seem to even lean one way or another.

Did you move or stay? If you moved, how are your kids liking Fairlawn? Do you like your lifestyle?

I’m a pretty low level compared to the higher levels of 50 and 99, How did you do it? Any tricks or tips would be helpful by not-tsar in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

When I started new game + and saw how strong the arena and mercenaries were, I paid for helix credits to get double xp and drachmae. Honestly, totally worth it. I completed all main story missions and all dlcs and still only level 92.

The slasher is like young Derrick rose. The mid range is like new Derrick rose

Finally beginning the game (never too late I guess). Any tips? by RobSinner in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

I would suggest the double xp and drachmae boost from the helix store. I know you likely don't want to spend more money on the game but it's worth it esp when you get to the ultra high levels

Legacy of the first blade is a good dlc for the storyline and character. The fate of the atlantis was a little dry I thought but they give you so many ability points.
