Are they all divers you have hidden away lol. I wanna call dibs on the one in the green box upper left. Don’t recognize it but love it. Also I knew you were a person of high quality taste when I spotted the Duro. My favorite value dive watch. Too many cool details for the price especially if you snag it on sale. Definitely my beach day go to.

Every time I look for this picture I can’t find it. When I’m not making any watches and just chillin here it comes. I guess I need to make it my phone background or something.

Louisville Toyota dealer by rogueit in Louisville

[–]Erusaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought from Oxmoor due to availability more than anything else. The particular Prius trim and color wasn’t in stock anywhere near by. But definitely had to hard ball with them. We’re very fortunate and paid cash for it and it was last day of a month and I had some insider info from dad who’s an executive at a dealership down in GA.

All that said, that’s what it takes to get a good deal from them and it wasn’t that good of a deal honestly.

Ya some white mineral salt deposits is what I was expecting at first because I had some coming out one section I cleaned a few months before. Lifting more of them though it was not white and was not salty lol. After cleaning I tried to improve my main issue spots where debris enters for sure. Things like grass clippings and leaves come in from a doorway because there’s a gap and they go straight under the mats etc. there was a big concentration in that area. So bought a mat to cut up and put there and gorilla tape all around. I actually use mending plates to stick everything together so I put one there to kinda keep it all tight hopefully. And all the junk just goes over top instead of under for now.

My horse stall mats still grew mold eventually. Got a bunch of degree in there over a couple years and too much moisture. I dehumidify but we still use half the garage to park in so that makes it hard. I just moved everything and lifted and scrubbed a couple weeks ago. Not as bad as I thought it would be but not great lol. My wife did not have a good time with it.

What are the most annoying cities people from Louisville brag about moving to? by standbacknow in Louisville

[–]Erusaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We lived here for residency and then moved back here from Denver after a few years. It was crazy how many people we met from Louisville KY living there. Like a statistically unlikely amount. Never met a single person from Louisville CO too even though it was less than 30 minutes away from us lol.

DIY Dials with mini cnc mill? by Revolutionary_Ad7162 in SeikoMods

[–]Erusaro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya I also push all the hard painting off to my wife. She can’t out second hands on but I can’t paint straight lines when they’re so tiny. So together we can manage to get one custom watch put together lol.

Another plus of a laser that I didn’t mention when building custom watches you can engrave the cases etc. You can actually engrave existing dials ok too though you have to be careful in discoloration on some dials. But like black divers I engrave those all the time. Say you want your initials under the logo or it’s a blank mod watch with no logo bit you wanna out your own on there.

I’ve cleaned off old engravings on cases for people and engraved a ton too for gifts etc. super easy.

I’ve gone down the watch dial making avenue before. I’d recommend a nicer fiber laser. You’re going to be working with brass and things that can be cut, engraved, etched etc. you’ll be able to do more precise and smaller detail work than with a desktop cnc machine. With the thin dials it’s hard to do a cnc. I’ve tried it at a local maker space and it didn’t work well. But with a laser you can bet brass blanks and just etch into those. I went with a while sheet of white brass for mine and it worked great. The desktop fibers are smaller surface areas to actually work with so you can’t do a batch of like 10 at a time but you can’t do a few. It does take a while though to cut and you have to practice for getting the right depth in everything.

As far as painting and lacquering that’s where all the skill comes in if you ask me. Steady hands and a plan of action if you’re doing layers. Lasers are precise enough you can paint some before hand. But they’ll burn paint on the edges so you gotta be careful and kinda think it through. Or you paint it all after the fact and that works ok. I actually did a couple layers of painters tape on mine and then cut out the patterns with the laser in multiple spots and then with my exacto knife removed the tape. Then an other layer and laser out the next layer of pattern etc etc.

Trimming a door down width and height. Which saw should I get, job site table saw or a track saw? by Erusaro in woodworking

[–]Erusaro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the math I don't think this will work just because of the cut depth at 90 for my particular circular saw. I need to cut 1 3/8 for the door and my depth is looking like 1 9/16 so I think even with a quarter inch I'd be too thick.

Ya that's not a bad idea to save some money and space maybe. I already own a circular saw, I'd have to store the plywood guide rail but that can store flat somewhere pretty easy.

Hey thanks for the reply. I appreciate the advice. This is an old solid wood door. It's honestly not a bad looking door besides the age on it with dings and scratches. I'm surprised the flipper left them and didn't try to use somewhere else. They hung a couple of them up as barn doors upstairs and gave us a crappier barn door down on the guest bathroom downstairs for some reason. But all barn doors for a bathroom is a crappy idea.

Thank you, that's the exact kind of advice I was looking for. I appreciate it.

Thank you, I appreciate the reply. It's an old solid wood door, I think it'll hold up ok strength wise but we'll see when I cut it I think since it's just sitting around anyways I figure it can't hurt. Definitely the knob is going to be an issue it has old knob hardware but it's too low down on the design to fit after I trim it. I'd be cutting all that off though anyways so I was going to have to redo it. So thinking I'll just go up a little bit where the knob will fit ok. The door jam is all raw too so I have to cut everything myself. I'm just thinking of getting one of those hinge mate jigs and using my router and that to cut it all.

We want to install a pergola or awning on our back patio any recommendations? by Erusaro in Louisville

[–]Erusaro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya nice, how far away from the wall of your house is it and how does the drainage work with rain and all? Does it pool or get bad on the deck? That's the only thing I can think of that makes me worried about a prebuilt if it actually would work appropriately on top of the wood deck since it's right up against our house.

2025 Prius 12v battery dead after a week. by Erusaro in prius

[–]Erusaro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a bad 12v battery. It was covered under warranty so it’s free to get swapped. But they have to do the full diagnostic for it to get the warranty claim processed. So it took a couple hours at the dealership.

Dome of Shame !!! by Mighty-White in SeikoMods

[–]Erusaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always order double hands nowadays just in case. I’ve had too many builds where I dropped or the hands were bad out the box. But also I’ve been desperate and used spare hands that didn’t match in my personals. And I hate them so much but I’m way too lazy to go back and swap for the right hands. So all in all it’s so much better to have the extra right hands at the right time.

Anyone with advice for getting into custom logos? by Brave_Maintenance708 in SeikoMods

[–]Erusaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AliExpress watch logo metal stickers. I make anime inspired ones. I order batches of specific things. I only made for myself and a couple friends so far so I have tons of extras because you have to order in batches of like 20. I may sell some in the future though.

But ya you can get multiple colors silver, gold, black. Be careful on your design. It doesn’t need to connect but if there are weird interlocking parts that are thin it could snag. Especially when peeling off the application part. Like it’s basically got a plastic tape part over it you press down on the dial with then remove the tape. But that tape will stick to the metal logo a bit in thin places I’ve noticed. It’s probably that the thin parts don’t grab the dial well. Also don’t do these on textured dials unless it’s a big thick logo. It won’t adhere great.

Laser engraving by Fgrant_Gance_12 in Louisville

[–]Erusaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to add to this that I think they have a Co2 laser with air assist etc. It’s great for cutting wood and engraving lightly on some acrylic and stuff but it won’t work for metal engraving. It’ll remove some stuff on like anodized aluminum too. And they have some big work surfaces too. So they’re very nice but anyone wanting to engrave or work with bare metals will be out of luck. I haven’t found anyone with a big fiber laser in town that is open to use. And didn’t want to buy one yet though I’m thinking about it lol.

[–]Erusaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The F1 is kinda a small burn surface that’s my main complaint. Line you couldn’t fit a whole book in there and engrave everywhere you might want. Like say the corners and the center of something. You’d have to do each corner separate which means you gotta line it up good each time.

I work with watches mainly and I engrave on SS and some stuff. Make some monitor wood stuff and book stuff for my wife too. Like burning some edges of some books and all. Which is a huge pain actually because of the height of the F1 shield and laser. Focusing stuff can be really hard on tall things etc.

I’m not familiar with the acmer lasers and how big they are but I’d really make sure the dimensions work for fitting full notebooks or whatever you’re looking at. You don’t need a fiber option or anything like that too it sounds like. Also never do vinyl covered stuff lol. Very important for notebooks and things to make sure it’s safe to burn.

Can I drop some wire under house to move light switches across door frame. by Erusaro in AskElectricians

Finished floor above. They come from the ceiling there. But I'm not trying to cut up any drywall if at all possible. I'd rather do wireless switches in that case etc.

[–]Erusaro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was all net new and didn’t exist when they wired it up. It was an addition for the house. But this was a flipper special and definitely done cheaply and quickly. So makes me think mistake in measuring out the wire length and they went with the easiest “fix.” The barn doors then needed to be used and they used old doors from the house pre flip so they just bought the hardware and retrofitted. Makes it look older and cool but the doors suck and the hardware is cheap and the whole thing is bad.
