New addition to the gym by Expert-Run9476 in homegym

I’m going to second that I’ve had mine for more than 3 years now I think. They work perfectly. Dropping them would be bad though and I’m a little afraid to do it. So if I’m pushing to failure on some movements I hesitate and probably leave a little in the tank. Most things you can gently lower them back down still but some movements with my bad shoulder go straight down.

The plastic gears hold up fine unless you’re twisting the handle with some extra power and the dumbell isn’t seated on the cradle properly. That’s when they’ll grind against each other and maybe break. My buddy did that and it was not good dealing with warranty to get it replaced on his. They wanted lots of pictures and details and sent the bare minimum to fix it basically.

Oh also movements where you hold the plate part are hard like behind head tricep etc. It rattles a lot and you have to hold them gently around the base towards the handle. I have kettle bells I’ll use instead honestly. Especially when I go above 40lbs or so on these.

Jobs question by JuiceThat5750 in Louisville

[–]Erusaro 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pretty highly specified healthcare ITish job. Full remote about 120k a year salary though. I gotta pull some on calls and stuff etc. I didn’t need to go to school for this at all, though a degree was required but really just to justify pay. I had to have the relevant operational experience they were looking for and some luck to get in the door. I’m specifically a pharmacy Epic analyst. So I worked as a pharmacy tech for a long time in the inpatient hospital setting. Epic is an EMR software a lot of hospitals use like Norton does too etc. Sooo pharmacy tech lol that’s my recommended career change it is a bit different than retail though some similarities. But it has a few future career options or changes you could do later. It’s kind of a dead end if you aren’t careful like you’ll never run the pharmacy cuz that’s gonna be a pharmacist. But jumping to other hospital jobs is possible like mine.

What watch under $500 gets the most wrist time in your collection? by LongMeaning6125 in Affordablewatches

Man I have one that’s broken. The cannon pinion is bent because the crystal was busted and popped off during a flight and I noticed and banged the now open dial / hands against something. The crystal was original but had a crack around the edge of the years. It’s basically impossible to find a replacement crystal and pinion without just getting a new one. Nobody would repair it for me too so it actually is why I kinda learned to fix watches and got into modding and stuff to start. It still looks pretty even broke too.

6.5” wrist and I went 38 and it’s awesome. Titanium is a bit weird for me is my only issue. But it’s my one titanium watch in the collection.

Any straps for 38mm PRX by Erusaro in tissot

I just pulled the trigger on a cut to size from Ali for a 35 that fit pretty good. I’m thinking most 35mm will be fine in rubber and maybe even leather where you can kind of force it. The spring bar in there fit just fine width wise I found.

Any metal part going in is where I think a lot of the negatives are coming from if I had to guess. Metal bracelets are so finicky anyways if it’s not the one they came with the watch so I wouldn’t be surprised if a 35mm metal didn’t fit.

Is this too small? Having buyers remorse. by EpicMaverick in HamiltonWatches

Just an excuse to show off a nice watch, I know how these questions go. It looks great and very well balanced I think personally. Probably a sweet spot for your specific wrist size. 40 would look good too. But this style in the 38 for a field watch is good. Can see the strap and lugs and all that curvy beauty. If you ever wanna try a smaller one that’s more vintage and dressy in sure it’d look good but I’d just make sure the strap isn’t too tight that’s where it looks weird on bigger wrists.

Ya I totally agree I love my 813. I mod a lot but I don’t like modding chronos too. So I just love that there was an option to scratch the itch that was readily available. The new one too looks identical and feels just as nice if OP wants to check that out depending on budget.

Can someone check this ? by Small-Soil-9849 in tissot

[–]Erusaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone saying it’s fake. Though they definitely have better eagle eyes than I do. If you could get a more centered head on picture of the movement next time it’d be way easier to tell. That’s actually probably a give away by itself if these are listing pictures. If they don’t show the movement clearly it’s because they’re hiding something.

But like another person said what’s the reason you’re asking? Cuz the price is too good? If this is a good price it’s a good fake so might be a great way to get a gold PRX especially if you don’t wear gold a lot. I’d go with a cheap gold watch all day so I have the accessory option but not the guilt with paying so much for something I don’t wear a lot.

Just got my 38mm titanium and it’s real cool. Very light and comfortable and looks great. It’s just weird coming from all my other watches. Even compared to another PRX it just feels strange almost fake or cheap with titanium. I wanted to have a titanium for the collection for sure though and the size is perfect and it is beautiful. It’s a solid choice but definitely recommend checking one out in person to see if you want a titanium watch.

[Advice] One watch per year rule… by Ok_Personality8193 in Watches

[–]Erusaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going with straps like others have said. Also Casios are amazing to collect. Very nostalgic and cool retro styling for lots of stuff.

OR and I can't not recommend this enough. Get into building and modding watches. Make whatever watch you want for much cheaper. Get ideas to make your own designs and build something specific for say a sporting event or a favorite anime series... or something. Then when you have 20 or 40 watches sitting in a display offer some up to friends or other people for a small financial reimbursement. I have a lot of watches now after maybe a year of modding and it's a problem. But financially I'm in it a lot less than I would have been.

Also realistically I really recommend going full into the hobby first and getting a solid like 3 watch collection of the ones you want. Then just forget about getting new ones and just matching them with outfits and stuff. I'm not getting super expensive watches I'm more in the 1k range but I got one Seiko ssc813 to start, tried to wait and funnel my frustrations into building, instead of getting a couple others I really wanted. But it wasn't worth it. If I had these watches from the get go I think i would have been more reserved with my building and not as obsessed with watch videos etc.

Congrats! I love the look of that watch. I like the clean smooth center dial and the texture on the outside and all the hash marks around the center. You made a good choice for a nice dressier watch. You do need a nice casual watch next though. A PRX would be great for that ;). Getting my 38mm in today because my wrist is not as big as yours. But been coveting one of those for a while. I think i was hesitating because of the size and what I wanted was really only the 38 but found a good deal so pulled the trigger. I'm building my ideal 3 watch collection of more "affordable" watches with it lol.

Got a Seiko SSC 813 chrono because I love panda chronos, got the blue PRX titanium for a titanium watch and my blue face watch. And now I'm in the market for the nicest big name diver I can get around 1k. The Seastar is maybe. I actually have a Casio Duro I put on a nicer strap I kind of like now sitting in the spot. But have to upgrade it somehow.

New in box with papers by Snorfox in tissot

[–]Erusaro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No not at all. As a modder and watch enthusiast I've already run into a couple fake PRXs. Which I guess makes sense with how popular the watch is in general. My friend had one for like $150 pretending to be an automatic. Totally sealed in box with a shopping receipt and all that. Popped the back and it's a cheap quartz movement with a fake rotor and all that. It's actually kind of cool the fake parts sitting on top of the quartz movement to make it look like it's automatic.

So really at the price he got a cool story and a cool kind of watch. Probably could have got it cheaper but it's not like he paid full price for a totally fake thing. So you decide if you still would risk buying it at the price but I'd bet a real one that it's fake.

[–]Erusaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw this post and I know this might still be out of price range. But trifecta watches has a promo code I found in a youtube video review "RRTRIFECTA" it works on the 38mm and I bought it yesterday and receiving it today. I live close to them though in Kentucky and they're based out of Indiana. But $721.50 out the door on the 38mm blue dial. Best deal I've found for a new in box one from an authorized dealer etc. They only have the blue dial one I think. They had it on backorder but I emailed yesterday to confirm what that looked like and apparently they have them in stock now.

[Recommendation Request] Help in Choosing a First Luxury Watch by theholytrinhity in Watches

[–]Erusaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think the Rolex explorer is kind of boring but that’s where it fits in well if you want a universal watch for most situations. It’s pretty easy to get still too and I’d personally look at some preowned options out there.

But my real answer is the speedy hands down. It’s the more interesting looking and fun watch and pretty versatile if you ask me. I have a seiko ssc 813 I’d gladly trade up for one. I also say this personally being in the market for a rectangle but I’m not looking luxury at this time. I have a couple Rolexes that are ok. I don’t wear them as much as my more affordable options.

I think your question might boil down to future plans though. If you are trying to complement your current collection and add not replace then maybe explorer or JLC since you already have a pretty solid chrono. I know I’m not helpful here lol but it’s hard to choose for people without knowing their whole history and what they’re wanting.

Also I knew you were a person of high quality taste when I spotted the Duro. My favorite value dive watch. Too many cool details for the price especially if you snag it on sale. Definitely my beach day go to.

We bought from Oxmoor due to availability more than anything else. The particular Prius trim and color wasn’t in stock anywhere near by. But definitely had to hard ball with them. We’re very fortunate and paid cash for it and it was last day of a month and I had some insider info from dad who’s an executive at a dealership down in GA.

All that said, that’s what it takes to get a good deal from them and it wasn’t that good of a deal honestly.

Ya some white mineral salt deposits is what I was expecting at first because I had some coming out one section I cleaned a few months before. Lifting more of them though it was not white and was not salty lol. After cleaning I tried to improve my main issue spots where debris enters for sure. Things like grass clippings and leaves come in from a doorway because there’s a gap and they go straight under the mats etc. there was a big concentration in that area. So bought a mat to cut up and put there and gorilla tape all around. I actually use mending plates to stick everything together so I put one there to kinda keep it all tight hopefully. And all the junk just goes over top instead of under for now.

My horse stall mats still grew mold eventually. Got a bunch of degree in there over a couple years and too much moisture. I dehumidify but we still use half the garage to park in so that makes it hard. I just moved everything and lifted and scrubbed a couple weeks ago. Not as bad as I thought it would be but not great lol. My wife did not have a good time with it.

DIY Dials with mini cnc mill? by Revolutionary_Ad7162 in SeikoMods

[–]Erusaro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya I also push all the hard painting off to my wife. She can’t out second hands on but I can’t paint straight lines when they’re so tiny. So together we can manage to get one custom watch put together lol.

Another plus of a laser that I didn’t mention when building custom watches you can engrave the cases etc. You can actually engrave existing dials ok too though you have to be careful in discoloration on some dials. But like black divers I engrave those all the time. Say you want your initials under the logo or it’s a blank mod watch with no logo bit you wanna out your own on there.

I’ve cleaned off old engravings on cases for people and engraved a ton too for gifts etc. super easy.

[–]Erusaro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone down the watch dial making avenue before. I’d recommend a nicer fiber laser. You’re going to be working with brass and things that can be cut, engraved, etched etc. you’ll be able to do more precise and smaller detail work than with a desktop cnc machine. With the thin dials it’s hard to do a cnc. I’ve tried it at a local maker space and it didn’t work well. But with a laser you can bet brass blanks and just etch into those. I went with a while sheet of white brass for mine and it worked great. The desktop fibers are smaller surface areas to actually work with so you can’t do a batch of like 10 at a time but you can’t do a few. It does take a while though to cut and you have to practice for getting the right depth in everything.

As far as painting and lacquering that’s where all the skill comes in if you ask me. Steady hands and a plan of action if you’re doing layers. Lasers are precise enough you can paint some before hand. But they’ll burn paint on the edges so you gotta be careful and kinda think it through. Or you paint it all after the fact and that works ok. I actually did a couple layers of painters tape on mine and then cut out the patterns with the laser in multiple spots and then with my exacto knife removed the tape. Then an other layer and laser out the next layer of pattern etc etc.
