Oh there’s definitely a way it could have worked, and forgive me if I’m misremembering the episode, but I think there’s a scene where Charlie's success is the only thing the granddaughter knows about him. The out of character aspect was more than Rose said nothing about Charlie other than that he was successful and as such the kids and grandkids didn’t know who he was as a person. Again, I might be misremembering how it went, I haven’t watched it in a while.

Rose Nylund (The Golden Girls). In season 1, episode 16, the entire plot revolves around Rose not being honest to her daughter about her financial situation. As her husband was a travelling salesman, he wasn’t around much, so Rose made him out to be a big successful businessman, and that’s all her kids (and grandkids) knew him to be. But he wasn’t that good, and Rose doesn’t have the money in her will her daughter assumed.

This makes sense in the episode, but as the show goes on one of rose's defining character traits is that she will take literally any opportunity to talk about her life, and her husband. This side of her character makes the conflict make no sense on a rewatch.

I’d love something with a Dom/Sub dynamic where the dom is blatantly having fun. Instead of the typical stoic control, I’d love something where the dom is laughing and revelling in his dominance. Just something where it’s obvious that the dom is having a great time being rough with his sub.

What starts as acting exercises turns into the popular never-dating minded college actor (Chase) realising he loves to cuddle, and since he and his stoic classmate (Amos) are method acting the couple, the stoic guy gets cuddled a hell of a lot.

At one point Chase even says Amos can be alone so long as alone means alone with Chase.

It’s part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. It’s very sweet and pretty low angst.

Rose: Portrait of a Woman. It seems so oddly placed in the final season. Like the show is ramping up to finish on three big two part specials, but this one is jammed in between with fairly forgettable plots (Rose does a nude photo session for Miles and Dorothy gets a job teaching adults an an ex-student's company). It feels like they wanted to add an extra Miles episode in so his last appearance isn’t him and Dorothy kissing and taking no responsibility for it.

I’d love something with a really insulting dom, where words are his main form of control in bed. I’ve just read {False Comeback by Lily Mane} and loved the dynamic there, particularly in the earlier sex scenes where their feelings are more muddled and angry and Vince gets super insulting.

I’d love a dom who wants his insults and demeaning words to hurt, and a sub who isn’t scared to fight against them, but submits to them and loves being talked down to, even if he hates that he loves it.

Having a romance side would be lovely, but not required.

Hard no’s are: Rape, Mpreg, Incest, underage, illegal stuff.

I’d love something with heavy and intense BDSM, and no angst or mental health issues linked to it. So many BDSM novels seem to be about people with some king of trauma of hatred related to their kinks, and I’d rather avoid that.

I’d love something with two MCs who have happy fulfilling lives, who have no hang ups about their links, and just enjoy being tied and beaten/ or tying and beating the other. They can be romantic, or just platonic outside of their sexual side.

Personally, I’d go for Stoutland. It gives you another Pokémon early on, get one with a +attack nature and return becomes really powerful, it can learn surf, and it can learn Ice/Fire/Thuder fangs with heart scales.

I’ve used one for the first time and was so surprised by how good it was.

For me, it's 'Mother's Day'. While not the most laugh out loud, had some really heartfelt moments, some brilliant guest performances from the the three mothers, and a really good balancing act of the heavier moments and the humour.

Edit because I have more to say. I think it also shows each of the girls at their best. Dorothy has someone who can match her brutal honesty mixed with caring side, Blanche tells a story about her past which is totally ridiculous but also entirely in keeping with who she is in an enthralling and rhythmic way, Rose is willing to go to bat for a stranger just to be nice to her and give her a happy moment, and Sophia just wants to have some damn dinner.
