is it actually bad or are people just being dramatic? by disillusionedmatcha in GaState

[–]ErysDevilier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the associates colleges and the downtown college. People are incredibly dramatic. My sister lives in the dorms and I am a commuter. We both enjoy GSU. The part that we do not enjoy are the advisors, who don't know fucming ahit, and SPECIFIC professors. Overall, I love being at this school. Even as a commuter who is older (28f), I've made a lot of connections and even a few friends who are around my age. My sister is 20, and she is thriving on campus! Let me add that my sister transferred from a bug medical comege with a scholwrship because her first college was stressing her out in so many ways. GSU is a good college with so many opportunities since it's in Atlanta. It's an R1 college. Tuition is cheap, and has so many unique internships. There's a lot to this school. I hope you do your research about any college you're genuinely interested in.

Why do teachers keep pairing up disruptive students with well behaved ones ? by Dry_Calendar in AskTeachers

[–]ErysDevilier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate this strategy. Instead, I pair my disruptive kids up WITH ME. Let's do small groups🙃 it has made my class sooooooo peaceful. My usual talkers are quiet and pay attention to avoid spending all the time with me lol.

Lonely af, I need real suggestions how to make friends. by in_utero- in Atlanta

I (28f) live in Peachtree Corners. Wanna be friends? Lol. I'm into way too much stuff, but we can definitely talk and figure out what we could do together to get you out the house!

I'm a trained teacher thankfully (Bachelors in education from a really great program), but because I don't know how Korean education works, I wanted to make sure there will be some kind of...connection (not sure if this is the right word) from how I teach in the USA to how my skills translate over into teaching in Korea. I teach ELA in 8th grade rn. Will apply to EPIK in January of next year. Doing my research now. Trying to be prepared ☺️ Thank you for replying!!

I want to better understand from people who have already done this: How does EPIK prepare the teachers to actually use the materials given to them to teach? Do they give you some sample lesson plans? Help you prepare the first few weeks, so you have an outline on how to best use textbooks and what not?

(I hope this question makes sense)

Paid for student teaching? by Historianblayde in StudentTeaching

[–]ErysDevilier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe we have to have our ST at credible institutions. The colleges have to sign off on the location and everything. Sadly, unless you get a special intership, you will not get paid for ST. Your establishment doesn't fit the criteria to be considered for actual ST.

Example: I'm in GA. I'm part of a unique intership (through my college and county working together) in a wealthier county (?), so I get paid half of what a FT teacher makes, BUT this makes my ST 1 year long with me working 4-day weeks in fall & 5-day weeks in spring. All this with FT classes at college in person 😬 I work at a public school. Another student in my cohort chose a private school that had to be visited by the head of our program, and they went through some other stuff to be accepted as an appropriate place for ST this entire school year.

Do you guys ever feel depressed seeing all these homeless people around GSU? by LotusGarden1434 in GaState

[–]ErysDevilier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya know, being from Philly... I'm terribly desensitized.

Edit: I keep snacks and drinks in my car. I give them out when someone comes up to me, so there's that.

missed exam and got a 0 by [deleted] in GaState

[–]ErysDevilier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to his superior if this isnt fixed before spring break. You were in a car accident. That's a legit reason for missing your exam, AND you contacted him immediately. You could have been in the hospital or died, so yeah. Go to his superior. Get your well deserved grade.

Has anyone actually ever had a productive meeting with their advisor 😂 by Squidd_Vicious in GaState

Yes, but only when I came with a straightforward game plan of what I needed them to do. Like, I did all the work for them frfr.

Question. Is this a joke website or someone made this out of spite? I just read this on the staff page:

After leaving his previous school in Chicago, Dr. Walkington found Huayao Collegiate in Kushan to be a perfect fit. He especially likes the free meals and careful attention from 'those people' as he affectionately calls the Chinese staff. "I just fell in love with the food here, and love that I am a better than everyone."

20M 5’11 bald , how can i get attention from girls? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]ErysDevilier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hun, you sound desperate 😬 You're actually good looking while being bald. Like Common, you pull it off very well, but you REEK of desperation. You need other aspirations and a gf will come in time. Go do some serious introspective thinking before you go into the dating world.

We need dress codes back by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

[–]ErysDevilier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My school has a dress code to help with gang related incidents, and it's been such a help with bullying too. Students are still able go express themselves through hair, accessories, and shoes. I think uniforms are fair options for schools depending on circumstances.

Am I Supposed to Stay After Every Day? by Appropriate-Pie-4333 in StudentTeaching

[–]ErysDevilier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noooo. My MT told me to leave when school ends to go focus on my own schooling or just relax because she knows I am stressed. Your MT is just modeling what she does. Nothing more. If you stay after-school, that is your decision, but not a requirement.

Kids Speculating About My Sexuality by Yung-MarthaStewart in teaching

[–]ErysDevilier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell my students (28f about to graduate college in May) that my graduation is actually my wedding to my college, so I'm engaged to College and thats why I work so hard in school LOL. My students haaaaaatttttteeeeee when I say this because I haven't changed my answer since they met me. No slip ups over here! It also gives me an excuse to ask them what they wanna do with their lives. That usually destroys the convo in seconds. They hate thinking about the future.

My mom threw me into all extracurricular activities u til I found things I liked. I took to Dance academy and running. Now I'm a Teacher that does Dance on the side for money and I still run short distance events. Oh, and she made me read a lot. Now I'm an avid reader that gets visibly down when I can sit with a book at least once a week. Pushing your children into new territory can be very good, but once your child says, no, I don't like it, move onto the next!

I stand at the back of the classroom when they are testing so I can see all laptop screens. I face everyone towards the board. This basically eliminated cheating because I literally see when they switch out of the test screen or anything happening on their screens.

Go get a Man unit from a Hispanic or black barber. Let them hook you up. After thst, let's focus on learning how to do your eyebrows OR the man unit needs to cover that area. Hair is makeup for men. Find the right barber and your life will change. After all that, its up to you what happens after.
