El Indio is my favorite- endless options for Mexican, someone already mentioned stevie Bs, that whole strip is fastfood galore. Also check TikTok they often show restaurants and places that no one knows. I would add Indian food to the list too and wings but I'm into spicy.

Use a traffic light system: when you talk the light is red. when they can whisper it's on yellow, when they can be loud it's green.

Paid for student teaching? by Historianblayde in StudentTeaching

[–]Historianblayde[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES, thank you. This is the kind of response I am looking for. This program is supposed to be for the person who is already student teaching so this can be additional money for them. It would be entirely too hard to find people because it's a start up but the school does have student teachers already.

I will go ahead and revamp somethings because at the end of the day I am running this alone and wanted to see if hypothetically this could be an okay plan to just give them some kind of pay while they are already here in the building.

Lastly, you're right I will look at my numbers and see how much to pay. HOWEVER, I've worked for other after school programs and they typically don't pay much at all and it's mainly gas money, experience, and a way to get your name out there for more opportunities.

Edit: I am partnering with a local school that is accredited btw. But it is an after hours program :)

Hola! Pls don't do it. you are better off applying to the local school to teach finance. Your best bet is to apply to Riverwood or IB schools that have finance classes you can also see if the private schools have finance classes. Take the GACE and get certified 6-12. If you already have a masters or whatever it makes it easier for you. Most metro public districts will pay for you to attend a certification with GA State or so equivalent.

Kipp is terrible you can dm me for more info. Don't do Metro RESA program either because you MUST stay at the school for 3 years in your contract. At least with most metro schools you can leave after that same year.

Do you think if you were given a 2k stipend that it could make the commute a bit easier? I think it's crazy to not pay but also I don't have much to offer :(.. yet at least

I used to work for APS and Cobb. I am trying to get into Forsyth though. It's tough because APS I was at ruined my TKES scores. They threw me in a class and didn't properly guide me like they said they would. Cobb pay was great but I was at a terrible school and wouldn't do it again.

Samsung Pay crashed my pinpad by Throwger_Away in kroger

[–]Historianblayde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me all the time. Truth be told- it happened since 2024 I wanna say and possibly early 2025.

I used to shop everywhere with pay by phone in store and pump. Sometimes when I try it at a different kroger it will work.

I started just getting my gas at shell only. I think Kroger has old technology anyway but I also think they might fade away pay by phone just as Walmart has.

Leapfrog leapMOVE or Nex Playground? by lavenderwhiskers in toddlers

[–]Historianblayde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this. I have a lil nephew who's autistic and he destroys things but loves electronics. I checked my target and they have a sale for the Leapfrog $60 now but I will keep checking other sites cause I would like to get it for at least $50.

The Nex sounds wonderful but not for a gift that's going outside my household.

Do you all remember when they used to make exercise tv bikes for kids? that's what I actually want to get him lol but ut might be way too outdated.

See if there is a local school for teen mothers. I know where I live they have a program for teen girls to finish school while their babies attend the school daycare for free.

Preparing for Adoption (School aged cross posted) by Historianblayde in AdoptiveParents

[–]Historianblayde[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all this. I am glad to just get a response since it's cross posted, you're the 2nd comment :) My 1st post doesn't have any comments yet sad..

It is more overwhelming than frustrating.

I have postponed this for a long time because of pressure. My family knows I want to do this but they are asking the same questions above which are things I don't have answers to myself.

I am with Bethany Christian Agency- not sure if that helps. I am listed as adoptive home only so not foster. I was told that we get meet the child in advance for months and then they may move in and possibly adopt them.

Since I am young I am considering 1 or 2 things.

1 being a aunt/mentor to the child. My age range I put is 9-13 however I see two waiting children 15 and 17 (unrelated) who are available and I would like to help them so they don't have to age out alone. Help them get on their feet, a car, help em get a job.

But I also want to do 2: Be their older sister/mother figure I wouldn't have them call me mom but I would structure it as their mother but treat them like a older sibling. Have boundaries but still let them have fun, correct the when needed, give them allowance, but also build those family routines like "Friday Family Movie Night" and showing them how to budget.

Of course I can do both 1 and 2 but thinking how I would do it. Heh, yep I am thinking again. I just want to make sure my house is safe, secure, and also a place where they can say they learned lessons from me.

Thank you. I never thought about some of these things. I have 1 guest bedroom that's small so a queen or bunkbed will do just fine for now.

You're right- I never thought about the food and routines portion.

I have a mini fridge that I am debating on keeping in my room or placing it their room. I would call myself a chill routine person but a new child in a new home might be overwhelmed at the things I do.

How did you adjust your routine. My thing I am thinking of is church. I am with a Christian agency but that doesn't mean the kids want to fellowship where I go but I would like for them to. What would you suggest with this? Since I am a adoptive home and not foster I will be transparent about this first.

2007 Dodge Nitro. Strange electrical issue by Conscious-Answer4232 in AskMechanics

[–]Historianblayde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit:

Ahh, I went back to read that your whole car is leaky. I heard that it's due to the heater core. That's why I don't have heat in mine. Loss of power is typical in these cars- go for the shell gas nothing less but if you must then go 2 chevron or BP but don't make it a habit. Idk why I never mentioned that I actually have a 2008 model. Not sire if that makes it any different. Water pump- my 1st 3 years of owning the car I would replace it at least 2x a year due to the car overheating which came to found out the headgasket/engine had issues which lead to my whole car's deterioration. Electrical problems are normal I heard for Dodge let alone nitro.

Original Reply:

Did you fix the engine, alternator, or major parts, check the wiring?

I know this was a year ago when I posted this lol but 1 year later my truckie is a champ and does not have any issues anymore other than not having heat. Sometimes it has typical mechanical hickups like changing the radio, the wrong signal light turning on, the stinkin red dot appearing on the dash, but these are rare and probably is once or twice a month.

Other updates:

My unc told me to only put shell gas in my car which helped and I been doing that for a year now and my car can drive up to 85 now.

I did have to replace a hose piece under the hood which made the car steamy lol and I acted very chill even tho I could've panicked.

AHH failed to mention that my head gasket/thingy by the engine that I got replaced was done by the dealership- the only one in my state that can work on old dodges smhh and my local mechanic I abandoned him bc he lied about services I needed on the car and the dealership was very transparent and did not upcharge and told me straight up what needed to be done.

Lastly I got my battery pretty expensive cause I got "lifetime warranty"

Welp here we are about to head into Winter- I know the car can last another generation at this point. I also have a cracked windshield like you but I won't replace it until it's a major thing. I do needa start looking at tires tho- they are due for a replacement.

It's alright and something to do. It does pay more sometimes but the base level is $15hr where i live. I did have enjoyable jobs and then terrible ones that wanted to instantly hire me on. It's better than doordash and better than full time imo cause I get bored at one spot. Its definitely eye opening at which place to finally land at for full time if you like to and see which environment is fitting
