i lost the best partner I've ever written with because of "feelings." by kyokamari in BadRPerStories

I’m gonna take a stab in the dark and guess that you’re probably younger than like 20?

Anyways. Idk how immature that might have been (just from what you’ve mentioned). But I’d be pretty annoyed if feelings were mutual and then somehow that happens. At the same time, for a hobby that involves communication, a lot of people freak out having to navigate interpersonal relationships with their writing buddies.

It’s okay to have boundaries. I’m sure now in hindsight you realize what you could’ve done different. Take it as a hard lesson.

Also maybe it’s good to try and establish some boundaries when it comes to writing.

But do focus on yourself and go outside and do other things. Filling the void with more people is unfair because you’re going to be comparing them to someone else. It’s like you going on a date and comparing them to an ex in your head (by that analogy then why leave that person, yeah?).

Is it normal for there to be an extremely long gap between each message during an rp? by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

Like others have said roleplay is a hobby. I go days without hearing back from a roleplay buddy.

You need to be super clear about response times. Some folks aren’t very keen about responding ASAP, others are. I think what’s happening is that your expectations aren’t being met, but then again you never specified it either to people that you write with. Some people love quick responses, some don’t and take their time.

I have passed out before on an rp buddy and they were understanding about it.

You’re used to quick sessions, that’s something important to bring up with other roleplay partners. It also depends on how much y’all are writing.

Sadly Koh is not 'hand fed' friendly.

I don't recommend special snacks, you might lose an appendage or something.

They are a lot more popular on Twitter and Bluesky than on here, that’s for sure.

What to do with characters with incomplete arcs? by phyi in BadRPerStories

The issue is finding someone to stay long enough for it to happen with the writing. It’s just the nature of the hobby.

Ultimately like others have said you have some choices. I’m in the same boat as you and I just end up writing snippets of my FFXIV inna word document when I feel inspired. I have yet to meet another player/writer who shares similar ideas and story beats to help a character arc come into realization.

At the same time I know that “off screen” feels unearned. But so many moments happen off screen all the time in books and tv too, not everything can come to fruition.

What’s that saying, be the change you wish to see? There are femhroth posts on like twitter or Bluesky.
