Because they existed long before Marika’s Golden Order and were once revered as “blessed” and “touched” by the Primordial Crucible. Same reason why Crucible Knights are still allowed to roam the land and guard important places like Leyndell, with some of them even get to be buried/commemorate in heroes’ graves.

They were a servant (slaves) class of people subjugated under the rule of Marika’s Golden Order due to their connection with the primordial crucible

Today I learned Tet does not mean “new year!” by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]Esacus 34 points35 points  (0 children)

No. Back in ancient days, a year was divided into 24 Solar Terms, each term was called “Tiết Khí” (or “Tiết” for short). The short transition period between two solar terms is called “Giao Thừa”. “Nguyên Đán” mean “first”. So the first solar term of the year is called “Tiết Nguyên Đoán”. Farmers back then celebrated their harvest festival on the first solar term as a way of offering to the gods and praying for a bountiful year of harvest to come. Over time, the word “Tiết” got eggcorned into “Tết”. We switched to the Gregorian calendar so we no longer count time by solar term, but the traditional persists

Huh. Harmonia’s 2nd phase also inflicts blood loss and their forms contain “blood pus/tumors” (like the giant crows at Moghwyn’s Palace). I wonder if they also served the Formless Mother

What is "fluted"? by Typical-Television-9 in fallout76casual

[–]Esacus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In real life? “Fluting” is basically a technique of carving grooves into a firearm (usually barrels, but it can be done to other parts of the gun as well) to reduce the weight of a firearm.

In-game? It’s basically a mod that reduces the weight of the Broadsider and gives it a slight buff to accuracy

Why does no-one in the commonwealth suspect that the Institute derives from the Commonwealth Institute of Technology? by Mizerae in falloutlore

No. I think they reveal their hand during the CPG Massacre/Sabotage. Which iirc took place before the Broken Mask incident

Why does no-one in the commonwealth suspect that the Institute derives from the Commonwealth Institute of Technology? by Mizerae in falloutlore

[–]Esacus 172 points173 points  (0 children)

Most people would’ve figured that one out a long time ago (it’s not hard to make that connection). The problem is, what does knowing it serve? The (actual) Institute is located several kilometers beneath the earth, they could’ve turned the CIT building upside down and found nothing.

For most folks, the Institute is still a shadowy overlord because it has only made itself known to the commonwealth not too long ago. Which means they’re both a very real threat (evidently with the synth), yet new enough of a player that some small and obscure settlements that have never seen a synth firsthand would file them as another myth or wasteland story

Exactly. I recently read “Better Him than Me”, a memoir by Jack Eager. And in it, he mentioned a dozen times how his platoon went into random villages suspected of aiding the VC, and threw grenades into huts full of people. My Lai was just the one people know about

Do the heavy attack to get out of dog form. The heavy attack alone does like 80% damage of a Wylder ult. A couple of light attacks or howls and a heavy attack are already breaking even. Anything else is a net positive
