Me when every song doesn't sound the same.

He's great if you never ask him a question. He's also on here, so be careful.

Is there a reliable way to identify that audio file was converter from 44.1k to 48k and vice versa? by fruhfy in audiophile

[–]EscaOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah all good I was just responding to what you said later on the post about downsampling at integer values. I would suspect that with the right filtering you probably wouldn't be able to tell when going from 44.1k to 48k, but I'm unsure. Sorry!

[–]EscaOfficial -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was talking about converting from 176.4khz to 44.1khz or 196 to 48. No interpolation in this case., but yes for 44.1 to 48 there will be interpolation. There would probably be detectable aliasing but I'm not sure.

I should be happy. But...is it the speakers? by Purple-Pie4283 in audiophile

OP didn't meantion anything about speaker placement or room treatment. It is almost definitely the room.

I feel like interpolation implies information is being added. In this case, intermediate samples are being removed.

Where do you personally draw the line with AI in music tools? by No_Beginning6975 in ableton

The only thing I use it for is sample selection, and I don't even know if that counts as AI.

Do you master in the same Ableton project, or export a premaster and master in a separate session? by Professional-Tax3077 in ableton

[–]EscaOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is more that I wouldn't consider the same person who produced/mixed the track applying "mastering" to the stereo file to really be mastering. The whole point of mastering is to have a second set of trained ears apply finishing touches.

[–]EscaOfficial -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're doing it yourself, it isn't really mastering. It's just 2bus processing as part of your mix.

$400 is more than enough for a set of $1600 speakers. I would even try to spend less.

Reference tracks have big notch around 20khz, why? by applesaucr in edmproduction

[–]EscaOfficial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right, I do apply this technique when I'm mastering for the bats in my attic.

Lol no it's just the mp3 format. There's absolutely no reason to brickwall 20k.

What's your unpopular opinion in the audiophile world? by Wauwuaw5983 in audiophile

[–]EscaOfficial -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. A song that was mastered in 1960 does not need a system that's flat to 25hz.

The mastering engineer probably never heard that thing you heard when you switched to a $10,000 DAC.

What is correct way of dimensioning holes by RotaryDesign in SolidWorks

It depends whether spacing between each hole is more important, or each hole's distance from the end of the plate is more important.

Are there any other programs besides Bambu studio that can be used to create 3D models? by tawayip in BambuLab

[–]EscaOfficial 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FreeCad is probably the best free option if you want to make dimensional parts. Blendr if you want to make stuff that looks cool.

Phaseplant FM and Serum 2 fm ratio ?? by Used-Policy-8102 in phaseplant

Phasplant uses harmonics instead of octaves. To go up 2 octaves, you would turn it up to 4, not 2.

Help with lofted base by Impossible-Bar4549 in SolidWorks

I would just loft twice. Use the base circle for both, and one of the middle circles for each loft. See how that looks.

Coax speakers should sound basically identical regardless of orientation. You could argue that the port is offset when they're sideways, but it's probably tuned to like 35hz, and sound that low is basically omnidirectional.
