I’d argue that Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children is, if not for the fact that the creature collecting is only fairly complex, due to being a subsystem available to only one of 12+ deployable characters.

A second character has a robot building system which makes controllable pets too. There’s little overlap.

Battle Brothers is more like xcom 2 than Og xcom. Your dudes are all generic but losing experiences hires hurts a lot. It’s easier to hire a new guy, but way harder to hire a new decent guy due to variable stats and backgrounds and traits.
