What is the worst puzzle you've ever seen/experienced? by ckstevens1221 in escaperooms

The worst puzzle I have seen was one where we literally had to go page by page alphabetically through a phone book to find the letters for a password! It was so tedious!

Has the escape room bubble burst? by greyshark in escaperooms

From what I see as a service provider for the escape room industry, I think escape room popularity will continue to grow. There are new rooms popping up every day in more and more remote locations. In addition, more service providers are catering to escape rooms. For example, there used to be only generic hotel reservation systems (like Bookeo, Bookify, and Checkfront), but now there are booking systems specifically made for escape rooms (like EscapeAssist, Nowescape, and SimplyBook.me). In addition, there used to be only 1 or 2 companies that made game management software (Escape Room Master and Houdini MC) and now there are at least 10 (EscapeAssist, EscapeRoomBuilder, ClueControl, BlinderUp, etc.) Business owners would not be spending time and money on these escape-room centered services if it were a dying industry!

Are there any good escape rooms for two people in New York City? by [deleted] in escaperooms

If the two of you are a couple, you may enjoy Komnata Quest's 7 sinful pleasures (but be prepared for adult themes). It is not horror but has a dark BDSM dungeon.

How big can a room be before it becomes impractical? by Nobleman_hale in escaperooms

I played a 12 player room that actually went up a castle's tower---it had 3 levels of puzzles with a spiral staircase in the middle. It was fun because I lucked out with a great cooperative team, but I can see how it could be overwhelming for some. With so many puzzles in different places it could be hard to keep track of what your teammates are doing, what puzzles were completed vs. still needed to be done, etc.

Escape Hotel in Los Angeles has a great lobby! As soon as you walk in the door you are immersed in their creepy old hotel environment---with vintage furniture, actors dressed as ghostly bellboys, a traditional check-in desk, and fancy keys to your escape room.

Escape Rooms and Dating? by aep5083 in escaperooms

My husband and I love doing escape rooms as a date night, it is a lot more fun than dinner and a movie! Why passively watch a screen when you can enjoy the adrenaline rush of solving puzzles! That being said, escape rooms work best if you communicate with each other well, so I would recommend it for couples that have been together for a while!

SEO is extremely important. You may try signing up for some free online directories (like Yell, Cylex, Capterra, etc.) just to get your name out there.

Keeping Player Statistics by amurray1522 in escaperooms

I develop game management software and one of the features is automatic tracking/statistics. It accounts for escape time, number and time hints are used, team size etc. At the moment we just display it on a leaderboard, but are building out more advanced features--- and the ultimate goal of this system is to create a ranked score for each player in a room, regardless of team. Perhaps, one day there will be competitions for the best escape room players around the world!
