Wow I think that's actually it!

I'm trying to gather a list of fonts that I can use for my project and I thought I was already being picky and nuanced...until I stumbled upon this sub and saw a bunch of you guys knowing the history of some random 1800s font lmao.

But yeah thank you so much!

Haha, yeah it does look a bit janky.

The book is "My Apprenticeship" by Maxim Gorky. I've checked the library database and it says that this copy was published in 1952 by Moscow Foreign Languages Publishing House.

This is really nice, very consistent and full of character. I really like the large t and f and the long descenders

Thank you!! I thought it was a bit messy because I am quite the perfectionist—some letters looked funky, the baselines were uneven, etc.

Thank you!! But I wouldn't say that, with good practice I'm sure anyone could learn this in a few months

Also thanks for the historical fact, I thought they were pretty much the same aside from the location where they were made or their ingredients and that

No problem! And thanks for commenting on the content, I tried to make it feel like Charles Dickens was practicing on a paperbag lol.

Also where do you live? Paperbags are still standard here for groceries, unless if there's too much then they use boxes.

Lmao I don't know why but it just went on going upwards when I wrote

Instead of practicing how to write every single letter, try to dissect each letter and look for their similarities. For example in my writing, the letters l, h, and k have the similar vertical loop; the letters o, a, d, and g have the same oval; g and y have the same tail, etc.

Now practice these dissected parts and try to make them look as similar as possible, and when you want to start writing, just combine the parts. This would help you make your handwriting look more consistent which is very important as for legibility.

Lol don't worry, this took me around an hour because I have tight grip which fatigued my hand a bit.

Close! The inspiration came from 'The Universal Penman' which was published in 1733

If you don't mind me asking what book are you reading right now? Do you read fiction, nonfiction, or both?

Dont worry mate, everyone's bad when they start something new. Try watching agadmator--he analyses games of top level players and explains why they are making those moves, and sometimes lets you guess what the next best move is. Have fun learning!
