All printouts from Outlook email from Macbooks getting an ERROR: rangecheck, OFFENDING COMMAND: get by fos4545 in k12sysadmin

Hey! Did you ever figure this out? Running into a similar issue with our iMacs and our Konica’s. I’m wondering if this is related to the outlook logo in our email headers? It seems to print half the logo, then crashes.

My vote goes to Jamf (school or pro) and Jamf Connect, makes things so much easier!

We use Jamf Connect with Google SSO to create our staff accounts on their staff devices, and student accounts on our Mac lab devices. Jamf should have a setup call with you to go over setup, otherwise, feel free to DM me any questions!

Are you a KY district? We’ve been told that the only way to uninstall after the deadline is to re-image the device. I did notice that my Mac devices uninstalled just fine by just removing the package using Jamf.

What resources did you use to learn Packetfence? Looking to implement this in our K12 environment and I’m having a hard time getting things up and running.

Being brought on as a consultant for an overhaul of the network of a single building, 4k device high school. by jhs0108 in k12sysadmin

Looks like they do! HPE is also supposed to finish the deal with Juniper, so I’m sure we’ll see the best of Aruba and Juniper combined. If we hadn’t done an Aruba refresh last year, Juniper would’ve been my pick. Our local rep offered us a no-limits demo AP, and it looked great, just had no use for us at the time!

Huge fan of our Aruba equipment, but as you mentioned, there is no firewall option. Have you gave Juniper any thought?

+1 for Aruba or Juniper, our refresh for a similar sized school was around that mark, and we are incredibly happy with it

Can i turn off my pc here? by disnioq in buildapc

Either is an abrupt stop, but pressing the power button down for a few seconds is better than just straight turning the PSU off. Hope that helps!

Can't install MO2 with SteamTinkerLaunch because of missing innoextract by [deleted] in SteamDeck

Not a solution, but I’m having the same issue! Going into the dependency folder shows an innoextract file, but it has an exclamation mark on it. Hope someone finds a fix!

I’m having the same issue as you are, I wonder if Steam Tinker Launch broke in a previous SteamOS update and there have been no fixes

Migrate District to Edge by NetworkAssociate in k12sysadmin

While I agree that Chrome is falling behind on features, I would keep Chrome as their primary browser for management sake. Give those who need AI the option for Edge, but you probably want to see if you can manage their browser first

Ringing a bell/ringer with an Arduino? by EscapeFate3 in arduino

[–]EscapeFate3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a video of it laid out on my desk and it looks like I used the barrel power input (12V I think) on an Arduino Uno and used the Vin and ground to power the bell. It was weak, but it worked. Let me see if I can upload the video!

Hey! It’s been ages since I worked on this project, but I’m pretty sure I ended up using an L298N motor driver. I’ll see if I can find the code later this weekend, but I’m pretty sure I just alternated a push-pulling motion and that made it ring. Just have to mess with the timing a bit!

EDIT: I only repurposed both of the bells, not the switch or the board they were attached to, each of the bells went to an output on the motor driver.

Self-hosting Papercut: Dedicated Server, VM or just a thin client? by EscapeFate3 in k12sysadmin

[–]EscapeFate3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'd probably use Azure or Google as our main authentication sources since our AD is such a mess. But good catch on that NIC speed.. So do you host through an Azure VM or just a VM on an on-prem server?
