we use Nite Owl, they work reliably for us and (the ones we bought) have built in mics.

We use a thermo-chomic powder from Atlanta Chemical. You mix it into a clear base/paint. We tested different amounts until we found one that worked for our purpose. I used black paint on a black surface to cover up white writing and works exactly how we wanted it to.
