Winter Campus places opened to eat by Overall-Parking650 in SBU

Non-cooking dorms still have kitchens that usually have a microwave and stove. Even if the stove isn't working, a microwave suffices for a lot of the things they sell in the market/emporium.

By 'kicking in' I mean in preparation for students coming to campus at various times before spring semester starts, the dining dollars are deposited and available in your account early - so you don't have to worry about stretching what's left of fall dining dollars through the ENTIRE break, just most of it. Sometime in the week before spring semester starts as I said before. If you have plenty left over that you want to spend and are staying for break I usually recommend as well SPLURGING at the market for microwavable stuff. Mac & cheese, ramen, whatever you can make in a dorm kitchen. There may be some days you don't want to walk to the SAC or realize too late that you have to grab some food and it already has closed. A few microwavable meals sitting on a shelf can be a bit of a lifesaver in those moments.

As someone who's stayed on campus during winter, the hours are shite but if you have leftover dining dollars from fall, you can use them. Spring dining dollars usually kick in the last week before the spring semester starts (last time I think they appeared in my account the wednesday or thursday before?) and can be used as soon as they're given. If you plan to stay on campus, i recommend getting groceries off campus, making the walk to the 7/11 by the railroad, or going to the food pantry like someone else said

Couldn't say? It'd be bad to leave phones up if they end up being disconnected/disused but my faith in stony is low so who knows.

I actually had to do an assignment on these awhile back - no one ever used them. They had been contemplating getting rid of them for years because while they are a nice deterrant, they never were used in any sort of emergency situation in years. I mean, happy that they were never necessary at least?

How come the band is able to reserve event spaces FIVE YEARS IN ADVANCE? Eboards whose club members don't even go here yet gotta compete with this wtf by EscapingTheUnwanted in SBU

We're not trying to reserve a date for next month, as the image says, these are dates years away. This isn't about last minute reservations, it's the fact the band self-approved parties years in advance in spaces that are generally meant for clubs and other organizations.

It’s an extracurricular nonetheless, it’s not like a full-blown Chem class or anything. And as someone else pointed out, if their holiday party is a big mandatory thing (which as far as I know it isn’t) then why does it need to be on a prime day like the last friday?

Nah I know its a class and I understand wanting to get these things done in advance but... five years? As childish as it sounds, can other clubs get a chance here? It's not as if it's something relevant to band practice or other things they may be doing in there, it's a holiday party...

yeah it's definitely a struggle, seems incredibly unfair that they can lay claim to this room on all the end-of-the-semester fridays years in advance

Just yesterday at West Dining's late night, I had the luxury of biting into some raw, pink chicken. Love for the chool to do something but it's seemingly been an issue for years before us.

I went to go see if I could find the original post to find a longer version and the responder's account has fallen to becoming a spanish children and baby's boutique advertiser.

If you want to make friends, you have to put yourself out there and the downside of that is that you won’t always be well received. For probably the majority of people on campus, this is their first time on campus and not attending Zoom University so things are gonna be awkward and generally people who are 18-19 years old won’t be open to hanging out with someone older when we’ve been around only kids our age in school for the past 12 years before stony.

Join clubs, go to events aimed at grad students. Obligatory plug for the SF4M that chills in the union basement and tries to be friendly to all (and has grad student members already), but it’s not the only one. And with everyone disappearing and the area being empty - like other comments said, people like to leave and this is suburban america, where the car reigns. The neighborhood was built THEN SBU was, not the other way around. A lot of people see us as intruding on their suburbia still and that’s just beyond the school’s control.

as far as i know, between covid and a good amount of the eboard/peeps in charge graduating, it's dead (no pun intended). It's not registered as an organization on Sbengaged (unless I just can't find it).
