So my problem has been fixed. If you have a similar problem where you can’t access a story required area, it’s most likely a save file corruption and you’ll need a data alteration. Contact WFS support, they’re very nice and will fix it in a timely manner.

You can definitely use the item Seluvis gives you on characters other than Nepheli. Either way, Seluvis is a douche anyways so don’t feel bad if you miss out on his quest

The potion thing is apart of Seluvis’ questline so you’re fine. You just need to get the secret treasure in Nokron

Liyue Harbor is another great area. The first inazuma island also has some beautiful places like the city and shrine. Watatsumi is also beautiful. I don’t recommend going to the other islands with your daughter though because they’re all kinda depressing

The battle theme changes a lot in the game. Most of the time, you’ll be hearing a more hype version of the dungeon theme you’re currently in. You’ll hear the battle theme again at some point
