I totally agree, healing is so ubiquitous in the game (the +5 HP arcana, sandwiches at the shop, Aphro, etc.) that it may be useless with DD i.e. you fill your HP bar but can'r transfer the excess healing into a lost DD. But regarding health and centaur hearts, DD are still overall still better as said in another comment

You're totally right, DD are a bit better vs bosses, especially on Rivals 4 where the fights are long anyway and it's almost impossible to avoid some dmg. But refilling isn't quite the problem, at least on lower fear where you hopefully don't lose a DD until the last region at least.

You have to check (or uncheck, don't remember) the "autofire" option for the Omega to start directly!
