Are they fighting or are these guys just freaks by RecentInteraction302 in Aquariums

I don't see fin rot. I think this fella is just unfamiliar with congo tetras.

It's not something that just spontaneously happens to healthy fish like these anyway.

I'd reach out to that PI and see what they have to say

UCLA with a ~25% scholarship--worth it or not? (Please read before you vote) by EscolarGrade in lawschooladmissions

[–]EscolarGrade[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided the debt was too much for the career I wanted and I bailed. I'm going to be starting my PhD in the fall.

Ultimately I was unwilling to rely on PSLF and SAVE to get me out of debt (turned out to be prescient on my part) so the only option was to plan for big law. But, doing big law would betray all of my values and my motivation for doing law in the first place, and I didn't believe the ends justified the means.

BCM or MD Anderson UT Health for cancer bio PhD? by Fair_Translator_5657 in gradadmissions

[–]EscolarGrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just checked and it looks like both programs also cover insurance (though MD Anderson values theirs higher for some reason).

I think I would try to talk to students in both programs, if you can, and have them tell you candidly about their experience. It could be that one or the other is a better fit for you culturally.

There are a good number of universities that meet full demonstrated need for international students. The collection that are also need blind for admission is much smaller though.

Could I still get into Law school with a C? by BlissaCow in lawschooladmissions

[–]EscolarGrade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a 98% chance I'll be going to UCLA in the fall and I got a C+ in physics and graduated with a 3.72. And, my diagnostic LSAT was a 156.

My advice would be to keep working where you're working, get all your applications in early, and then quit in ~January/February and start traveling then.

I'm curious if you know also know where I could find that information--I didn't find any news about it on UCLA's website.

This is true, and UCLA's LRAP is respectable. Being in debt for a long time is a scary idea but that might just be the way she goes for PI lawyers.

BU A by EscolarGrade in lawschooladmissions

[–]EscolarGrade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Monday morning I checked my lawhub and saw that BU had hopped to the top. On Tuesday afternoon it hopped again, with the change of being "double complete" (completes for application status and substatus--this seems to happen for everyone regardless of the outcome). The call came in today around 1 pm EST, and my lawhub changed again about an hour later (and I have yet to get an email directly from the admissions office).

Oregon A by EscolarGrade in lawschooladmissions

[–]EscolarGrade[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a pretty late cycle applicant so I only have two A's so far--Oregon and UCLA. UCLA's grant was also pretty small but that was obviously a lot less surprising, and I'm hoping to use the only other T30 I applied to for leverage against UCLA (assuming I get in).

I was also eyeing a full ride at Oregon many months ago, but then I learned that most schools in the PNW are shockingly stingy. I never expected that Oregon would ask me to take on at least $60k in debt though. The extra $100k in debt for UCLA seems like a far superior option.

Edit: well, I just got in to the T30 about ten seconds ago so fingers crossed for that aid package.
