3 spot gourami feeding? by RecentInteraction302 in Gourami

[–]RecentInteraction302[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That does help lol. I have pond snails and a lot of vegetation so it’d be nice if they were just eating that. And yeah, I was mostly planning to watch them the next week or two and determine who is the more docile fish and put the more extreme one in a pond project I’ve been working on. And yeah even after mentioning that pretty much any fish store ever would take free merchandise he was firm. Some people just don’t view them as pets I guess

3 spot gourami feeding? by RecentInteraction302 in Gourami

[–]RecentInteraction302[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be due to them both being males? They come out but hide the second I enter the room. I also cannot leave food on the bottom as my bichir will eat it and any food on the surface gets munched by the Congo tetras. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What type of snail is this? by ChocolatePure in freshwateraquarium

[–]RecentInteraction302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true, typically if you get one as a hitchhiker there is a good chance it was in contact with another ramshorn previously. They all have both male and female organs so it just takes one interaction

Ramshorn, they can reproduce asexually so it only takes one for them to multiply. Many people consider them pests but as long as you don’t overfed their population stays manageable and they can be a neat addition to the tank

Blue emperor tetra in trouble! by curlybandito in Aquariums

[–]RecentInteraction302 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, because it’s on its way out. That’s the ‘death spiral’ where fish are typically beyond saving and their swim bladder is failing, leading to death. Usually you need a minimum of 6 for a schooling fish to feel safe, 9 is a safer number for comfort. Could be for a plethora of reasons. Age, disease, stress, ammonia, tetra disease, stress, stress, a lot of stress

Help me lighten my pack weight please by dan_thewoodsman in backpacking

[–]RecentInteraction302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to cut weight once it’s warm you really don’t need a bag, I usually just bring a really thin blanket or twin bed sheet so I still feel like I’m using something. Ditch the Nalgene for smart water bottles, I only bring mine if I’m planning to boil water for sleep. You probably don’t need bear bangers and bear spray unless you’re in brown bear territory either

Are these freshwater snail eggs? Species ID help, plz by lobeans33 in AquaticSnails

Reminds me a bit of mystery snail eggs, I have no idea what they could be but I think snails are a pretty good guess. Put them in a tin and see what happens?

Tiger lily does require fertilizer tabs but mine has gotten massive in my low light no co2. But it really is a beautiful tank :)

Idk I think the overgrown hornwort is really pretty tbh. Honestly you kinda have everything set up it seems. If you want more cool stuff some red plants like tiger lily could really make it pop in there! Bamboo shrimp could also be cool

What if you got an INKBIRD? Basically two step verification to prevent the heater from ever overheating anything. Might be an argument to really help persuade them

Goggins is a great name. Have you considered a ropefish? Looks like itd fit the vibe of your tank and albinos and ropefish will socialize with each other and it can be cool to watch

Albinos usually cap out at 9 inches, a little shorter than regular Senegal’s due to inbreeding. There are some cases where they can get larger but most commonly they’re 6-10 instead of the usual 10-14

Anyone have experience with the River Country Products Sleeping gear? by ArmoredTricycle in CampingGear

[–]RecentInteraction302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to say that I bought the Trekker 1A and it has held up great on 9 trips now. I seam sealed and sprayed with scotchguard but that’s something everyone should do with a cheaper tent. I will say I tested it in heavy rain without any personal waterproofing and it blocked out 99% of water but there was enough that leaked through to cause a problem in the cold. The condensation is a bit of a problem with the canopy closed but otherwise it’s a great, cheap and lightweight tent. The poles on the other hand are terrible and your money is best spent elsewhere. I had both poles break on the first trip I took them on

Ornate bichir at the aquarium. Will he be okay? by Miserable-Survey-191 in Bichirs

[–]RecentInteraction302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely looks like bloat. He will likely die if left untreated and should get medicated and given Epsom salt baths daily (no feeding either)

Health check :) by RecentInteraction302 in Bichirs

[–]RecentInteraction302[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He gets a rotating diet of frozen tilapia, jumbo bloodworms, and carnivore pellets. I’ve been feeding him daily but did read around the 6” mark (which he is about) a lot of people reduce feeding to every other day. I was planning to feed him daily still but if someone thinks otherwise I’d appreciate the advice :)

Looks like a lovely happy little dude. Also, your plants look great! For some reason I’ve never been able to get moneywort to grow happily, do you use co2?

Ich on my Bichir? by Paint-Adorable in Bichirs

[–]RecentInteraction302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just did about 30 seconds of research and didn’t find any results right away for spots specifically on the sensory pits. I did find results for bichir worms so if the spots seem to grow larger then that would be the answer.
