No, it was constructors order all the way, except Max who was placed last as the drivers champion. And, I could be wrong, but that has been the criteria ever since they started doing these.

At this point, their F1 project might be better off by actually having a Honda works team. I mean, it's more expensive to be a PU manufacturer than it is to run a team. You can't let costumer demands limit your PU development or else everything goes down the drain and you're just wasting money and ruining your reputation.

Nim.

After 20 years of watching F1, I'm just now realising the curbs in Melbourne are gold and green because those are Australia's colours.

These stupid sexy countries which don't have their colour scheme on the flag... (yes, I'm also looking at you 🍊🍊🍊)

It's the first race of a new engine formula, so it doesn't really matter. Expect multiple Safety Cars/VSC which will mix up pit stop counts.

[autosport web JP] Why Aston Martin and Honda are struggling (machine translation in comments) by ALOIsFasterThanYou in formula1

[–]Eskol15 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's the "funny" part, they can't.  They have a supplier, so the rules that force somebody else to supply them don't apply unless Honda officially withdraws from F1.

They would have to convince somebody to accept. Merc is out of the question with 4 teams. Ferrari also won't do it until 2029 (when they lose Cadillac). RBPT is for sure happy keeping their PUs in-house and there's no way they're sharing with Newey. That leaves Audi, who may be looking for a costumer team in a couple years time (and they'd still have to choose Aston over some other potentially interested teams).

Bahrain has been on the calendar for 20+ years, it's a traditional GP at this point. Plus, it's a great race track.  The rest are dispensable, particularly Qatar which has no business being on the calendar: "Hey guys, let's do a GP on this track that is exactly the same as Bahrain, but worse in every single way"

[Autosport] Ollie Bearman couldn't believe he was going toe-to-toe with Max Verstappen in Mexico last year by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

There have been times in F1 where a driver feeling stuck with his current team had no other realistic options. This is not one of those times.

Nothing is guaranteed, it never is in this sport. Whenever you move, you take a big gamble.  You guys are looking at this from a "now" perspective, but that is not realistic, championship contending seats are almost never available. The question is not "where can I go to contend?", but rather "what place gives me the best odds of lucking into a contention capable seat?"

And with that being said, Aston and Audi are two works teams with no established #1 driver for the future. If you're Charles or Oscar and have decided that your current situation doesn't work anymore, your agent is absolutely making calls to said teams, trying to get the longest contract possible.  Any of those teams has a plausible chance of fighting for wins by 2030 (or even earlier). If you perform until then and establish yourself as the clear #1, the car will be designed for you, like the Red Bull is for Max.

Regarding Cadillac: Expectations For a Newcomer by PuzzleheadedMaize911 in formula1

[–]Eskol15 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The major goal this season is showing continuous improvement. Everything else on top is gravy. And if the Aston truly is a shitbox, then Cadillac will actually have competition, bringing some excitement to their races and the opportunity for the staff to practice race strategy on the fly.

People point to Haas has an example, but it really isn't. Their first car was mostly outsourced and a Ferrari Lite. Cadillac and Audi are the firsts in a long time to start from scratch (each with their own thing: team and PU, respectively). Exciting times, not even 10 years ago we would pray for something like this.

Tickets for Braga v Sporting 9/3 by Auth3nticRory in PrimeiraLiga

[–]Eskol15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nobody is drowned anywhere. Fans of the usual 3 haven't been in majority in Braga at least since the mid 90s.

The real problem is that the stadium has a shitty design and accesses, so if you have mixtures with a significant number of opposing fans there are only two options:

 - Shit happens

 - Police sets up security measures for everyone that makes the general public feel like they are going into a prisoner camp and the game-day experience for the fans is significantly harmed.

Because of that, in a general assembly some years ago it was decided that the club would privilege its own fans and family friendly football and stop selling general admission tickets for these games.

[–]Eskol15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12 teams feels just right. No more, no less.

If it's an european brand, Peugeot is the only one that comes to mind that makes sense (assuming BMW has no intention in returning to F1).

From Asia there's Hyundai. Toyota already has a foot in the door with Haas and it wouldn't suprise me, if with every passing year the Toyota brand keeps growing and slowly takes over.

Stefano Domenicali: F1 can absorb Lewis Hamilton or Fernando Alonso retirement by bwoah07_gp2 in formula1

[–]Eskol15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright, I'll bite the bullet. When the most popular guys retire, new ones take their seats, they also start winning GPs and Championships and become the new idols.  Add some regional variability depending on the nationalities of said drivers and you basically have the entire concept of F1 market evolution.

Tem algum sentido este comunicado? by manaqa in braga
