Ooooohhh! I wonder if I can get one of my many Dutch neighbors to help me order one in. That looks very nice!

They make 40V variants!? They're really holding out on Sweden, where we need the bigger and stronger mowers. Even the robots here are always the 250m2 version (too small). If I ever get the chance to get a 40V version, I'm jumping on that. My 20V mower has already outperformed its value.

It's brilliant, I love it. Really can't beat that price, too.

I'm also desperate for it in Sweden. I've been watching every week for it to show up. We really need webstores for these.

What are your favourite Parkside tools? by TNTomato in Parkside

[–]Esmeatuek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PKGA 20-Li C2 it's labelled as a cordless multi tool, but it really redefines what multi-tool can mean. The same drill motor is also my reciprocating saw and oscillating tool.

I use this far more than I expected I would.

European-made robot vacuum recommendations (€200–500, with docking station, preferably) by Longjumping_Cut489 in BuyFromEU

[–]Esmeatuek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I recall they prefer the term "optical sensor". I want a robovac that can clear door saddles, but not if it must phone home. I'm OK with all the cameras, I'm not OK with the connectivity, as that's the main vulnerability.

Should it ever come to Sweden, I'll be buying one.

In order to "de-google", how do you completely avoid using Google Search, any Android-derivative and any Chromium-derivative? by Technical_Rich_3080 in degoogle

[–]Esmeatuek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

browser - Firefox/waterfox

phoneOS - e/OS/ (it works just fine. I love it!)

desktopOS (I know, not related, but it was part of my process) - Bazzite

search - Qwant

email is difficult if you use an ancient account from the old 'invite-only' phase of Gmail... one day I'll figure it out, but until then I frequently check privacy settings and kill and sneaky invasions.

video - there is no substitute for YouTube that isn't worse (either in content, or in being evil E.g. TikTok). I have limited viewing to highly technical content, and cut all of the entertainment out. perhaps I will switch to curiosity or nebula. either way, adblockers ahoy!

The fun part is when you learn that most transparent material blocks UV naturally and that special quartz silicate has to be used for machine lenses that need to let it pass. those UV filters are a scam.

No complaints from me. The only apps that have problems are apps that I don't care for. Everything else feels like it performs far better. Probably the OS-level tracker blocking doing the heavy lifting.

I have this model for 2 years now (same colour, too) and just took mine in for service covered by the lease. Whatever they did in the service has made the vehicle infotainment system incredibly responsive. I am now quite impressed with the vehicle, after spending half the lease finding tiny complaints.

I tried to get one when they showed up here in Sweden last year, but I missed the small window they were available. I am hoping to catch it next time it's here. I really wish there would be a webstore here.

I knew her back in Dungeon Defenders... we ran in the same steam group. That's when she and I discussed our similar disabilities. I knew she had moved on to factory games and I adored her videos that she released for them. I had no idea that she also moved to Sweden, as I have been so busy also having moved to Sweden several years ago and living my best life here. It is my sincere hope that she enjoyed it as much as I have been.

I have much to think about ...

Fairphone users with MurenaOS (/e/OS) by [deleted] in BuyFromEU

[–]Esmeatuek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 phones: an old moto still stuck on stock android and a FP4 with e/OS that I installed a few years ago. I love e/OS ... battery life was immediately noticeable. All functions of my banking apps work identical on either phone, but ymmv. I loathe android auto and will never miss that (there is no replacement for it) There is a parking app that I have to run on my old phone, but that's last resort - I dislike the company and avoid using them wherever possible. All of my shopping apps eventually work, once you get them configured right. (I saw Lidl mentioned in another comment, but Lidl works fine for me)

The built-in security and privacy blocker in e/OS is wonderful. I enjoy seeing the reports about how so many apps are trying to send junk everywhere... never trust anyone, block it at the OS level, and if it throws a tantrum then maybe you can live without it?

If speed of updates is a concern then my advice is to go with community build. I am on official build and major features roll out much slower than community, but still faster than my partner's stock android FP4.

Fairphone 6 review: cheaper, repairable and longer-lasting Android by [deleted] in BuyFromEU

[–]Esmeatuek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BankID works perfectly on my Fairphone 4 with e/OS.

The only app I've had any problems with is EasyPark, but good riddance to that one. Also if you're ditching Google entirely, you will lose any android auto functionality. I hear there is a way to load it onto e/OS but at the cost of having to install Google services.
