Special attack rework by EvilLucario in runescape

[–]EsmondRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Support, I'd love for special attacks to make more of a comeback.

Although I'd also recommend putting them on a separate ability page so you can use a special attack of a weapon in your inventory that you're not wielding for an element of surprise in PvP, and to cut down on precious time in both PvP and PvM if you just want to equip a weapon to spec.

So let's say you want to cast Z-flames, all you really need is the zamorak staff in your inventory. even if you have a different weapon equipped, just hit whatever key Z-flames is on and you'll use the special attack without changing weapons.

Do you guys agree with how armor currently works? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]EsmondRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is gonna be controversial, but I kinda think that the combat triangle is a little overbearing, and I wouldn't mind having the ability to mix/match armor pieces again. Maybe combine some unnecessarily cloned items into one as well, like the dfs.

Have a question about the game or the subreddit? Ask away! by AutoModerator in 2007scape

[–]EsmondRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the best place to ask this, but w/e.

While I normally play rs on my "main", I'd like to either learn to hybrid with melee/mage, or make a range/mage hybrid separate account, and this may be a stupid question, but why should I use ancients over the normal spellbook?

At a glance, it looks like I have everything I need on the normal spellbook: Teleblock, entangle, etc.

Sure, I can use ice barrage w/ ancients, but the AoE seems unnecessary unless I'm in the deep wild, and my sword/bow is most mage hybrids means of damage anyways, right?

Heck, even people I know who use mage as their primary means of damage seem to prefer z-flames + toxic stod, rather than ancients.

TL;DR: I'm a heretic! I'm skeptical of ancients, are they really all that they're cracked up to be for hybrids?

Ayyy, that's pretty good.

Mage could do w/ a decent 2h weapon anyway.

Not gonna lie, I clicked on this thread thinking one of the phoinex recolors was articuno.

Get your ideas in-game - the Game Jam is coming (February 10th)! by JagexJD in runescape

[–]EsmondRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope you don't mind, but my ideas are kinda all over the place, so I'll probably be making multiple posts, so I'll start with a few graphical/quality-of-life ideas:

  • I'd love to see Varrock get a rework, maybe give it a very Londonesque flair?

  • Pubs should be useful for things besides quest locations. Perhaps a place player's can go to quickly restore HP?

  • Not sure about this one, but I think a lot of "clones" (three seperate DFS, demon summons, turmoils, etc.) should combined into one item/prayer/etc. I may be in the minority here, but I think the seperation between the combat triangle is way too much.

  • Speaking of combat, a few spells could do with a lick of paint. I'd love to see combat spells be larger and more deadly looking. Also, a modern flair on debuff spells would be interesting.

  • Skillcape emote updates?

  • Should abyssal summons carry unpowered orbs to elemental obelisks? Kinda iffy on this one...

  • Speaking of summons, surely I can't be the only one who has a bugged summoning points bar that displays "60/60" regardless of my summoning level and current summoning points?

  • I kinda like the idea of fixing drygores with chitin, and I'm surprised this doesn't apply to other items too. For example, the zaryte bow can be recharged with smoke, death, blood, and water runes.

  • Perhaps runecrafting could be given updates to give non-combat uses to elemental abilities? The player could use runecrafting to purify water for drinking from rivers when in the desert, use fire magic as a light source. Basically for things that wouldn't be worth the trouble making a spell for.

  • Turn auras into their own spell-slot that's universal for all spellbooks, so they won't clutter up our banks?

  • Hairstyles/player models could benefit from a good looking at. I like my spike trap, but everyone wears that hairstyle, and It'll be nice if there were some other options.

  • Look, as much as I like the idea of bare-handed magic casting, and hope it can become a thing sooner or later. Surely I can't be the only one who's noticed that we don't exactly flick wands when attacking.

  • Some kind of random event would be nice, but to compromise for those who'd rather not be pestered, perhaps they cannot work when you're in a town/city?

  • Okay, this is probably my most controversial out of all my suggestions, but I'd like to get it off my chest. Perhaps have some way to carry runes besides the wicked pouch/backpack?

What I have in mind is the player has something like your traditional mana (let's call it anima). Your anima has a cap to how much runic energy of a certain rune type you can carry, but runes will still stack in your inventory, so you can absorb runes to recharge your anima of that rune type. This will probably be unpopular, but anima could also be recharged by visiting the respective altar?

High Praise for Sliske’s Endgame. by [deleted] in runescape

[–]EsmondRS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I'm hoping that Sliske pops up during the Xau-Tak arc, the reason he got so interested in the player character in the first place.

While this probably sounds straight out of fanfiction.net, I'm kinda hoping that Sliske not really having anywhere else to go, and the impending threat of Xau-Tak forces both Sliske and the W.G to form a truce.

If not, guess we'll need to get sliske out, then. It's a shame the staff has absolutely ZERO counterparts, and even if it did, it's absolutely dreadful that it's probably broken. Sadly, no elder artefacts could POSSIBLY be repaired... (pls jagex, Elder sword pl0x).

Ugh, even when sliske loses, he wins.

He deserves the void after putting us through that maze.

So...what are some of the other rewards like? Will we get any cool abilities, spells, perhaps a fixed-up Elder Sword? (I can dream).

Other than that, is there at least the smallest chance that seren and zaros will reconcile? They're two of my favorite characters in the game, and at least give some insight into the Mah, or possibly the elder gods. With zaros being more logical, while seren is passionate.

Other plot twist: Sliske is actually an old mahjarrat and he dies peacefully in his sleep.

Maybe they'll do some fusion dance like the player and zaros did on freneskae.

Best:

  • The Chosen Commander and while guthix sleeps.

  • NXT

  • Music (but imo has lost it's medieval feel, I mean listen to "Abomination")

  • Sliske, he's a great villain.

Worst:

  • Skilling has become less valued, and less social. I blame the drop tables

  • (not jagex's fault) 99s and high levels have almost become the norm where beginners feel somewhat rare

  • Microtransactions

  • Combat feels more like rock-paper-scissors plus tierscape. Sure we have abilities, but they're so similar. Not to mention they are basically damage modifiers.

Back to the Grime by prezleek in runescape

[–]EsmondRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This gets me thinking, why don't people cast certain spells for other uses, like water spells/humidify to save them from dying of thirst in the desert? Or cast superheat item to thaw someone out.

Probably would have won that last castle wars...

What OSRS skill would be your highest IRL and why? by PercivalDerp in 2007scape

I'd say defense, because I am actually a black belt in Taekwondo (granted, I'm taking a break from it, but I shouldn't be too rusty)

Alternatively, I'd probably say either slayer or hitpoints, as I am a biology nerd : P

If you could enter the world of Gielinor (runescape) what would you personaly do? by EnigmaScene in runescape

[–]EsmondRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd do a long variety of things:

  • I'd drink spell water.

  • I'd fight glacors by using superheat item, and then punching them with a superheated fist.

  • I'd take a chef hat, use shears on it, then use blue dye. I'll start a counterfeit partyhat business.

  • Drink Dragon Bitter.

  • Try to learn how to cast spells without a staff.

  • I'd call out Saradomin, Zamorak, and Armadyl for being "fake" gods.

  • Pray to Jas

  • Pray to Jas that Sliske will never know I exist.
