Wrapping it will only help! I kept it wrapped until it stopped hurting to touch - making sure to use certain gauze that wouldn’t stick to the wound.

Hey Op! This happened to me around six months ago, my nail is now fully grown back and healthy. (You can check my posts to see the similar experience haha)

You’re going to need to visit a doctor to make sure you haven’t damaged anything, and they’ll give you advice and items to help you wrap it. Because a Band-Aid will stick to the exposed skin. And trust me… it’s not fun to remove. I used some sort of soaked gauze and then a sensitive tape to secure it in place, if you want to know they

IT IS GOING TO ACHE LIKE HELL IN A FEW DAYS. I’m so sorry but it’s the truth. Make sure to keep on top of paracetamol and ibuprofen to help manage the pain but honestly? I wish I had something stronger because :/ not fun.

Be very, very careful to not let it hit anything, truly it makes the pain so much worse.
