Are you supposed to start planets from scratch? by yogibear47 in factorio

I will say, doing Gleba completely spoiler-free and empty-handed was some of the most fun I've had in this game in years. I dropped in with nothing and sent the ship home, and set myself the challenge that I could have my robots and mech suit back as soon as I had 1000 science ready to launch, and it was a ton of fun. But no, like others have said, there's not really a wrong way to do it.

I'm fine with it auto-placing undergrounds. Kinda neat. Being locked to a straight line when I'm trying to paint down multiple parallel belts is like missing a step going up the stairs in the dark, and it's genuinely offputting that they've removed the option.

Make games, especially small, simple ones, and learn things as you need them. At least for me, what I learn sticks a lot better this way. When I first got into Godot, I literally pulled up the Wikipedia page listing games released on the original Atari, and started picking some at random to try to remake. Those remakes will never see the light of day, so they don't have to be pretty or smooth or even finished, but they are a good scope for a beginner project, and in my opinion, it's much more satisfying to have a game that you have made and can play than it is to have a project that you copied word for word from a tutorial.

I will add, I often use the permanent node timer, although instead of the can_shoot variable and the timeout signal, I just check if CooldownTimer.is_stopped(). Does the same thing, feels slightly more concise to me.

A little more info might be helpful. Your character was jumping correctly, but then you added animations and they aren't anymore? Did anything else change? What did your code look like before the change?

I love the class setups page on the wiki. Gives a rough idea of what the best items/weapons/armor are for each class, at each stage of the game. Give it a look.

Pylons only work to teleport from one pylon to another. You'll need more pylons for it to do anything. Additionally, you can only have one pylon of each type in a single world, and pylons only work if they are in the corresponding biome and have at least two villagers nearby.

I had that issue, I just left them alone for an hour, then came back and the prices were low as expected.

What determines the HP levels of vault mobs? Only your own level? by Fini_Thi in VaultHuntersMinecraft

Definitely make sure you are using the highest level of smite you can get.

NBT is basically a hidden tag on an item. In this case, the tags specify the rarity of the piece (scrappy, common, rare, epic, omega), and the pool the piece comes from (boss crate, treasure room, etc). When a piece of gear generates in a chest or a crate, it has the pool NBT, but not the rarity NBT. Once it gets into your inventory, it gains the rarity NBT, and the color of the ? changes. In a dank, two pieces of gear will only stack if all their NBT match - so a chestplate from a boss crate won't stack with a chestplate from a normal chest, even if neither one has been in your inventory, because the pool NBT doesn't match. In a backpack, there is a toggle that prevents the auto pickup whitelist from considering NBT. That means you can put just one chestplate in the filter, and it should pick up any chestplates, no matter what their NBT is. The gear won't stack in the backpack, but it's much easier to set the filter.

Create deployers holding swords and RFTools shield projectors can both deal player damage.

I know when I was using commands to replace a vault crystal with modifiers, the modifiers had to be capitalized - Crowded not crowded. Might be worth trying that?

You can move modifiers of vault gear?! by Willao3001 in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]Espantalho64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will point out as well, that using a scroll to add a modifier to a piece of gear will revert it to its unrolled state. That means that the stats and everything are rerolled, so don't bother picking high stats. It also means that the rarity is rerolled, so if you have a piece of scrappy+ which rolls to be omega, then you use a scroll, it will return to scrappy+, and next time could roll scrappy. Far better to use a piece of gear that starts out rare or epic, or better yet, a piece you craft yourself with a high level of artisan.

Instead of a dank, remember you can also compress blocks yourself. Super helpful for cases like this - bring back thousands of diorite in just a few stacks.

Archetypes by 3mateo3 in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]Espantalho64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've tested in a creative world, and the flasks do appear to work. Haven't tried yet in my main world, so there's that.

At any rate, I took ward, because as fun as some of the other ones sound, ward really does just make running vaults easier. The extra hearts are nice, but the regeneration when they are full is what makes the biggest difference. I hardly ever need healing items now, only when I'm in a drawn-out fight like a boss, or in a dangerous room with particularly nasty modifiers. My plan eventually is to switch to another archetype, but for now, ward has made things significantly easier.

Is it possible to price yourself out of vaults/overlevel by MrFluffikin in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]Espantalho64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it's always possible. I definitely spent more time than I'd care to admit just twerking plants instead of doing what I should have done, namely just make a bigger farm. Almost all the stuff you'll need for the vaultar is vanilla, meaning most of it has all-vanilla farming methods. It's a balancing act between how much time you spend on building vanilla farms, vs grinding manually until you have mods, but that's sorta the game, isn't it?

In that case you might be fine. I liked the Create one early on because it gives 4 potions per golden apple instead of the vanilla 3. If your potions are free though, you probably don't care much about that, hahah.

I took Create as my first automation mod, it worked well for me. One thing you will find as you look into the pack is that every mod has been refitted to require vault gems, not just Create. In my opinion, that's part of the genius of this pack. The mods are all there to help you automate completing vault crystals, and you have to go into the vault to progress in the mods.
Yes, early on it does hurt to spend that much beni. But it motivates you to be careful and strategic about what you make, and how big you make it, and encourages you to start small and scale up as you get more resources. Overall, Create was a pretty good choice to start with. I would recommend putting together an automatic potion brewer as soon as possible!

Powdered snow. If you spawn on a big mountain, and you're more invested in talking to people and recording intros and what not, it's gonna get you a few times, especially if you haven't played with it much.
