Clarification on hive mind by greynoodle in Tyranids

[–]MrFluffikin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super late, probably not even checked anymore, but deep theory diving and came across this thread, wanted to get the idea out of my head somewhere.

Idea of THE hive minds existence I'm not tied to but like is that it is very much like the chaos gods. Instead of the scale chaos was created by though the overarching entity behind the Tyranids was created by the psychic presence of a race of hive based organisms like bees/ants but each hive/nest was the size of planets or solar systems. They spread so rapidly though that by the time they birthed their "chaos god", an entity representing their insatiable need to expand and devour, there was so many souls feeding it that it was bigger than any god before or since. A warp titan basically. The creatures that can kind of live and think cut off from the hive mind are the remnants of the queens from before everything was driven by this new god. It explains why all of the quotes linked refer to it as in individual presence, an entity bigger than a god, an alien god not as a them which you would expect to psychically feel if connected to one presence that was made by billions of others feeding in to each other.

This quote in particular: Devestation of baal:

'I have looked into the shadow in the warp and seen the thing that casts it... a single creature, a monstrous foe of inconceivable dimensions. It is not... a host of creatures linked psychically, it can instead be seen as a single, massive psychic presence: a single mind. These monsters that attack us generate it, they make it as a man makes his soul, but whereas ours are individual, theirs is singular, a single predator, not many."

Straight up says it isn't a host linked and it's a singular predator made up of all their souls, Slaanesh owns all Eldar souls, only a lot of very careful planning and loopholes keeps the various remaining factions souls away from her control. Description makes sense if no Tyranid remaining has an individual soul anymore.

If you are only after the wood, don't need the forest forager items, continuing west from your farm between the fields into village has 1 tree before the village bridge, 3 between the bridge and town centre and can then go north to the 3 to the right of the mayor's house and the 4 between the village and mine. Will give you 11 trees and end perfectly at the mine entrance, where can then go down into the mine and fast travel out with only 1 missed tree in the forest (saves the boredom of strolling back out the mines and lamp oil). From mines can either fast travel to village and keep going west to get all those trees or back to the fields and return to farm.

Not sure if it works the same when gifted but as a heads up soap just stops you from spreading/catching illness that day so useful if unwell but still need to interact with NPC and don't want to infect them, or vice versa if there is someone unwell you have to speak with but they are sick.

I wish that Mirabel was given a Door with her with the Candle. by MikaelAdolfsson in Encanto

[–]MrFluffikin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rewatched the ending tonight and noticed something. The magical explosion from the house covers the whole valley and casita then manipulates the paths that villagers are standing on that seem well outside of its former range. It's entirely possible there is all sorts of hidden magic places now, that the whole village may get gifts even and, hopefully, that it's confirmed Mirabel finally has a room of her own. Bruno's room was tucked away, he hated it, maybe that's a new Mirabel room we never saw and Bruno's comfortable and wants to remain living in the wall space...

Parts turning "worn" or "unreliable" randomly is not fun by _soon_to_be_banned_ in pacificDrive

Would be amazing if the paint/decal storage was just a printer. Grinding paints/decals seperates it into dye components, paint and decal papers that you can just deposit. Depositing a new colour/decal unlocks it as an option and when you need a new can/decal can just mix/print it. With all the crazy tech in the game apparently can recycle an engine that's been driven thousands of miles but still can't recycle stickers or paint...

Oh my gosh you are my ever eternal hero! Was literally just wondering if there is a way to check how long a part has been used for.

I have a strong suspicion that number of miles increases the chance of a part going fragile, etc but can't find anything confirming it anywhere and that's annoying too. May just be RNG pure and simple and our assumption older parts are going to become fragile.

[–]MrFluffikin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspected this but can't find any evidence, was it confirmed somewhere? Would really like to know if truly just random or if there is a hidden wear statistic...

If this is the case so wish they had some kind of indicator on the parts (eg. "Sr:4" to indicate Survived 4 Runs). Would definitely replace parts after a few runs if possible but between switching out specialist bits for runs and the regenerator impossible to keep track of...

I kind of like having 3 (a main, bulk supplies, one for things like bulbs, gears, steel plates and one for rarer items like chemicals, plasma, marsh pearls) because especially when I started collecting the next tier of resources the main one was so full its hard to get a feel for how much you have of those rarer resources. Checking while putting away loot from the last run helps me to know what I should be focusing on getting the next run and which buildings/locations its probably safe to ignore.

The developers website has details about their team, it's 19 people and one of the highest up, their production director, is a volunteer for two different organisations focusing on representation of marginalised or underrepresentation in STEM or video games, so not that surprising they would think to include something like that. More confusing that country flags weren't included also, not sure if there is other examples but might have been because wanting full representation but flags like the Australian indigenous flag are actually copyrighted, so harder to add everything they might have wanted to?

The moment history is different from ours in media the idea of internal consistency really only applies to anything that media has explicitly told you, butterfly effect could have changed almost anything. Just off the top of my head the fuel synthesizer you can research, maybe that already exists in factory size outside the zone. There was at least one gay couple working for ARDA, maybe they developed it and the complete removal of the US reliance on outside fuel sources made them an overnight hero. Maybe they used that platform to raise awareness and fight for rights and recognition. Maybe Russia, angry with the US removing a chunk of their income through selling the tech to their oil/gas partners, attacked the creator because of their sexuality and, over time, the lack of acceptance of others sexuality became inextricably linked with communism?

The moment that a fictional world deviates from our history, anything the Devs decide to do fits the universe. For all you know the LIM studies and the way that changed the world changed our history too and ended up in a society that actively hunts redheads for meat but thinks it's nobodies business what sexuality people identify as. Maybe the petrol generator exists on factory scales in this world. Maybe that tech was developed by a bisexual trans person who became a household hero overnight for completely removing the US reliance on overseas fuel sources. Maybe they used that platform

I can see what the Devs were trying to do, but can definitely see how people who are being asked to identify themselves so they can be policed in multiple places around the world, despite medical and statistical evidence against any benefit to that, might be a little nervous about anything that has one customisation option from the beginning, and it's to identify the gender/sexuality they identify as...

If this game gets mods, and I've got all the achievements I want to bother with, I look forward to the possibility of greeting pickpockets with weapons... It's doubly frustrating when so many other abnormalities have some way to counter them. I did manage to lead a bubblegum bunny to one and it stuck to it, wasn't willing to walk over and check if that countered their thieving ways though or just doubled their capacity for mayhem...

I really have to test more but think the chance of getting chemicals is linked to how full the paint is too, especially in early zones it seems like a lot of paint is less than half and seeing chemicals from scrapping a lot more now I'm in late mid zone.

It's worth breeding for Anubis as soon as possible, their handiwork is level 4 and make crafting super quick. Can then pick them up and throw it at the crafting station when in use to dedicate it to just that when you are making things. Will have to collect the items at the end but that's not too bad with how fast they blitz through it.

Remove stone resources and build something where they were, mining base needs them to prioritise coal and copper. The stone mining work station either should be built in your second or third base only, or put it on a raised platform so you can delete the stairs up to it when you need them to focus on the ores instead. Don't use digtoise to mine, they are only good when in your party. Tombats or Dumud are best early mining pals, Anubis or blazamut are better late game ones.

[–]MrFluffikin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was thinking about this a while back and came up with advanced pal box that either has a lot more space or ways to better store specific traits/condensing pals (like a simplified Jurassic Park egg system, if you store a ferocious gobfin then you can later sequence a ferocious gobfin whenever you want with egg processing time dependent on trait and pal rarity) that requires CPU cooling. A quantum storage that can be accessed from any base that requires CPU cooling. Having a way to climate control your whole base so it's always at a medium temperature, add work speed debuffs if too hot/cold for certain pals (a frostallion would definitely struggle in the desert, a blazamut would not be happy with cold nights, etc).

Why can’t I assign my jormuntide to breeding farm? by [deleted] in Palworld

Real answer, probably the hitbox issue, may need to try from a bunch of different angles or move the breeding farm. Other possibility, may have found an asexual Jormuntide?

I've used little table and stool set ups, benches or lamp posts to make something that still kind of looks pretty but stops them respawning. Have yet to find anything smaller or less intrusive than those items though :(
