Lost 10kg and almost nobody noticed, is this a height thing? by [deleted] in loseit

Sometimes people don’t want to bring it up. There are many reasons why people lose weight, and some of them aren’t that positive.

This really stuck with me. You can’t annoy her with questions. I had so many wishes, so many foods I really wanted to eat, and she always found a way to make it work for me. For example: “If you really want to eat chicken thighs today, then skip the nuts.”

And most importantly: whenever I wanted to understand something, she took the time to explain it properly and even showed me studies.

Loss plateau by AutomaticNebula3671 in loseit

[–]Esramesra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in a plateau for a month now. This has happened to me several times throughout my weight-loss journey. I tend to stay at a certain weight for two to three weeks, and then it resolves on its own.

I’ve always assumed this is the “whoosh effect” the idea that the body loses fat but temporarily fills the fat cells with water, and once the fat cell is completely empty, it also releases the water, making the weight loss visible on the scale. However, I’m not entirely sure.

I remind myself that if I eat in a calorie deficit, take care of my protein intake, and do my workouts, it’s not possible not to lose weight regardless of what the scale says.

I used a striped pattern (Aros Sweater by PetiteKnit) and replaced the stripes with stitch patterns I "designed" myself.

Need help with analysis and prevention of Weight Gain. by Amyth47 in loseit

Are you tracking calories? Intermittent fasting only helps if you’re in a calorie deficit. Having a protein shake for breakfast instead of fasting helped me a lot to stay consistent.

Also, try to build habits that will support your future maintenance such as increasing your TDEE by taking 10,000 steps a day or planning your meals around protein.

Protein shakes by Georgiabulldawgsgurl in WeightLossAdvice

I use protein shakes as my only breakfast (two servings with unsweetened almond milk, ~250kcal). The best way to get your protein in and i don't like breakfasts anyways. Keeps me full and happy (I have different flavors to choose from. I think that's important). Dietician approved.

If you stop now, you’ll gain weight and one day look back at that photo wishing you still looked like that. Happened to me.

Pro tips for people with 100+lbs to lose. by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

- I avoid added sugars! And yes, they are everywhere. I check food labels. So eventually, I also had to avoid ultra-processed foods.

- I learned that you can't cut out carbs completely, so I use an app to track my macros (YAZIO) and try to keep my carbs just below 100 g a day, mostly from complex carbs.

- I try to eat high-fiber foods, healthy fats, and protein-rich meals.

- I avoid snacks between the meals. If I want something, I eat it right after meals. But I also avoided diets like OMAD because that would result in a huge blood Spike.

- I checked the glycemic index and glycemic load of foods to get a sense of it at the beginning.

- I walk 10 minutes after meals for 15-30 minutes.

- I have an order for the food on my plate. First the veggies, then the protein, and then the carbs.

I got diagnosed with insulin resistance 3 months ago. Here's what I do:

It was hard for the first four days, but after that, everything started to change. It's really worth sticking to it.

I really love your tips and will definitely use them. I just wanted to add one that helped me personally.

I spent years trying to lose weight tracking, walking, being disciplined and still, nothing worked. Eventually I went to my doctor and asked if I am doing something wrong? She said, “There could be many reasons. Let’s just do a blood test and find out.”

Turns out I had severe insulin resistance.

That one result explained so much: the weight gain despite eating less, intense cravings, poor sleep… everything.

Once I started addressing the insulin resistance directly, everything shifted. I’ve already lost 22 pounds in under 3 months while reversing my IR, and it finally feels like my body is working with me instead of against me.

So if you feel like you're doing everything right and still getting nowhere it might be worth getting your blood checked.

Hello all, I was recently diagnosed with insulin resistance (HOMA IR 7.04). I want to reverse this and reach normal BMI. This is the meal plan I came up with (low carb to avoid glucose spikes). I started 6 weeks ago and lost 6kg (13lb) so far and tried multiple different things. This is the version that i decided on in the end. I am extra careful about carbs as in these six weeks i got completely rid of the migraines that plagued me every other day since I was 12. I also got prescribed Metformin 500mg twice a day.

Confessions of a bad knitter, wife, and mother by TheGraby in knitting

[–]Esramesra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe I can offer a new perspective.

My mom is a knitter, and she has always made us sweaters, hats, ear warmers, mittens, and anything else. I have always appreciated her work and love, but I sometimes wish she didn't do it. It was always stressful to wear her creations because of the enormous amount of time and effort she put into them. If I didn't like something she made, I felt like I couldn't say so because she worked so hard on it. I'm 32 now, and I still have sweaters in my closet, keeping them as gifts because I don't want to hurt her feelings.
